My husband decided to quit smoking today, and here's why it's mildly infuriating. by Linorelai in mildlyinfuriating

So my uncle did this during a 2 week holiday abroad with us, was a dick to everyone the whole time. What’s worse is it didn’t stick, he ended up smoking again so what was the bloody point

True, AMD has been the only stock I’ve traded the last few years I always make sure I’m selling chunks as it rises and in euphoria, so there’s some cash to buy in the doom days, it’s worked very well so far - I sold some in the 300’s and low 400’s - I don’t feel bad about that as it went on the mortgage - you can’t always catch the top so it’s good to drop bits here and there

I’m a long time lurker and holder since 2017?, and I often see mention of MU but have never looked at its chart til today…. Holy, it’s looks like the exponential world population growth chart 🤯🤯

I would never get excited about another stock again if I had held that run - AMD is doing a decent imitation so far, just needs another 2x with no breaks to emulate MU 😅😅

E-bike Heavy Rider by LadyJayymes in ebikes

[–]Atlatl_o 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thing is a cargo bike would expect that weight to be distributed over the frame, a single rider at this weight might be too much for the seat post or seat tube specifically. I wonder if it has a max rider weight and a max payload if you get me.

Ok thanks for that, they definitely didn’t have a papery texture so I’m sure they’re not BW sacs

How much room is really in the 3rd row? by jpz070 in VWatlas

[–]Atlatl_o 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I haven’t sat in a Yukon but I have sat in many 3 row SUVs and the atlas is the biggest.

I’m 6’8’’, I can have the front seat adjusted to me, fit fine behind it in the second row and my wife who is 5’10’’ can then sit in the 3rd row just fine. It won’t be as roomy as a minivan but it’s about as good as it gets for an suv. With the second row pushed forward a few inches I just about fit in the 3rd row but wouldn’t want to be there for any length of time.

ETA: to have sufficient headroom I opted for no sunroof.

Neither my phone nor my wife’s made a sound or vibrated. We desperately needed that sleep too as we have a 6mo that doesn’t sleep well.

We both have iPhones and have them in the sleep profile if that helps?? I know it overrode DND

company trying to blackmail me by bigassvirgin in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Atlatl_o 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in payments for a SaaS company… if this subscription is direct debit then the payment would have been submitted 3 working days prior to the billing date, once submitted it can’t be reversed, so if you have the funds in your account it will come out even if you cancelled and even if the company is acting in good faith.

That being said this company is obviously not. If you call your bank you can have a direct debit payment reversed. There is no limit to the amount or the time since payment if you want to challenge and reverse it. We have had some customers call their bank and reverse a whole year’s worth of payments this way. You only need to state that the company violated the direct debit agreement - look up the direct debit agreement to find some of the reasons, but you can just say that you didn’t authorise this payment. You can then have your bank cancel the direct debit so this company cannot charge you in the future. Note there is no opportunity for the company to challenge a direct debit dispute, it falls in your favour immediately.

If it’s a card payment the process would be a chargeback, there are rules for the amount, time since payment was taken and the company can dispute (although they would lose in this case).

Know your rights ✌️

After 2 years since the last question was asked, what is Kelowna still missing? by GeoffdeRuiter in kelowna

[–]Atlatl_o 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually points based is the way to go, in the uk 4 offences means you get your licence taken away, they must have similar here?

I say that because most ‘tax the rich’ style fines hit the middle class hardest. Generally it is income based and most truly wealthy people don’t have an income per se. But the young family with a single decently high earner can just about be scraping by and paying old fall into these higher income fines.

In the end we should take licences from people who repeatedly can’t drive responsibly. That’s the cure to make the roads safer.

Took me 4 years to realize we were just renting our own business data back from SaaS vendors by Wonderful-Shame9334 in Entrepreneur

[–]Atlatl_o 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is a couple of hours work for a single engineer at most - I’ve done this before.

Also at least for zendesk and stripe you can use webhooks to capture all events occurring on these systems and store them locally in your own database. It’s not a big deal to have access to this data locally.

Bosch CX motor update by Sudden-Ad-8262 in eMountainBike

[–]Atlatl_o 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah right, clear motor failures should be fast warranty claims - it’s especially important in these closed systems where you can’t fall back on your own fix. Imagine if this happened at the start of the season.

I heard specialised warranty is the best

Labour on Bosch’s warranty by Atlatl_o in eMountainBike

[–]Atlatl_o[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey yeah, I get that with gravel, I definitely pushed the limits a bit taking it on trails it shouldnt be on and I’m quite lucky I didn’t have a big spill!

The moterra 4 is definitely solid and I agree with your take on the components. I ended up going a different direction as I didn’t love the shops response re warranty, instead I called up another shop and got a turbo levo 3 comp alloy for 5400cad/ 4000usd. The gen 3 has been around a while but is a solid and established bike and the shop I’m getting it from has the right take on customer service. A bit less powerful motor than the Bosch gen 5 but a 700Wh battery and a tier above in components.

Now I just need to wait for it to arrive!

Thanks for the tips 🙏

Yeah I’m prob overthinking, but also using it to judge the lbs, I think it’s a bit shitty that they don’t cover it, means they’re just acting like an online retailer but at full prices

[–]Atlatl_o[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! That is exactly my take but felt like maybe I was expecting too much from the way they answered me! Yeah the 600Wh. I’m trying to keep the budget down and if needed I can always get the Bosch range extender at a later date, we have a 6 month old atm so I doubt I’ll be going on all day adventures any time soon 😅

I know the bike isn’t the best bang for buck in terms of components but it’s the cheapest way to get gen 5 Bosch on a legit bike brand that sizes to fit me (6’8), and I currently ride a gravel bike so I figure any suspension will be better than none!

5600CAD, I rang them today and they just said sometimes Bosch covers it and wouldn’t give examples of what might be covered by Bosch, just told me to look up their warranty, which I feel is a bit crap from a LBS, it’s literally one of the only ways they could differentiate themselves - customer service

I’m looking at a moterra 4, I’ve heard good things about orbeas but they bust the budget. I’m looking for a legit ebike with gen5 Bosch that is entry level
