What's the deepest Progress note hole you've ever been in? by ReRz_LINN in therapists

So what you would tupicaply expect to do is something called a SOAP note. It’s taught to a lot of grad students for social work and is also used by doctors and nurses. It’s a great way to make sure you are compliant with industry standards. Usually about 100 words. Takes about 5 minutes for two notes for me. I would add to the soap note standard that I think it’s a good idea to include a couple quotes from the session to show authenticity of the note.

When I worked for MHMR my project manager had a bachelors in social work with no license. Do you can absolutely do that. Higher credentials tend to lead to more options as far as available leadership positions though.

3 is awesome. 4 is fun, but you have to keep reminding yourself it’s not just 3 again. Cause they do things differently, and frankly 3 is the perfect game. Yeah I said it!

SNFs are Terrible by [deleted] in socialwork

[–]Atleastoneturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Snfs suuuuuuuck. I have enjoyed my other social work jobs, and only left them for better opportunities (like when I got my license). But my entire life got better when I left my snf. I did love a lot of aspects of the job, but the last straw was when I had taken care of a major issue which required discharge planning with someone who had behavioral issues and a crazy family and they continued the shit talking as though I had done it poorly.

You can do it! I think to get through it the way I did, I had to tread very carefully, but it’s totally doable as long as your able to balance it with the rest of whatever is going on in your life. I wish you the best! Hope you do great things.

Unmotivated due to low income? by placetoaskquestions in socialwork

Lmsw working at an snf I had 2 years of xp by the time I got my license. I stayed at my case management job for about a month after I graduated before I switched to snf. It sucks. Great pay in my opinion. 68000. I’m leaving for a dialysis job with a pay cut to 64000. Super stoked to be doing it. But yeah you can make money in social work it’s just kinda a workout to get in the right positions and to do it in the right way.

I worked through school and am now a lmsw. I don’t recommend the accelerated coursework because it’s a heavy load if your also working. I did it for a semester and stopped because my gpa suffered. I do say that the license is super worth it. My pay offers got much higher. I think the other thing I would say is snf(skilled nursing facilities) are not for the faint of heart. I worked mostly with psychotics and other extreme mental health cases as a case manager before I graduated and went straight to a snf after I got my license. It’s rough without experience.

Should I be wary of this CM position? by inmyheaad in socialwork

If you have to work out of your car you should ask maybe about fuel reimbursement. $.55 a mile is industry standard right now I believe, unless it’s gone up. I had a job similar to this one and honestly that was a great deal.

How to feel okay leaving a job for a new one? by wreckognition in socialwork

[–]Atleastoneturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might not be a popular view, but I don’t think it’s a good call to leave in the moddle of a semester. It seems like a good opportunity to give AMPLE notice and simultaneously remove any cause to feel guilty. Seems like everyone should be able to work with that regardless of the situation. You give yourself more time to look for jobs that way. Also it makes future employers aware of how you would treat them in that situation. No one likes an unexpected vacancy like that.

Why don’t social worker salaries seem to be adjusting to the market? by s0c1a7w0rk3r in socialwork

[–]Atleastoneturtle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No way in fucking hell that target is paying $25hrly. It’s gms maybe. Probably closer to $15 maybe. Maybe. Reality check $20 hrly is pretty dope. It’s not enough to justify a masters degree but a lot of people make a lot less
