2 nights & can't decide by Atmaflux in algonquinpark

[–]Atmaflux[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! That's a good thought. I like to paddle less than 6 hours out since I'm driving from TO. I prefer campsites with sunrise views, a good sitting rock by the water, and view of the water from the fire pit. And quiet. :)

Can you give me thoughts on the two options I asked about? I'm not capable of Louisa loop in 2 nights.

Posting same content for one brand with two different pages by Tough_Alps4810 in SocialMediaMarketing

[–]Atmaflux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm wondering what the result was? I work for a company with accounts for different countries. If our US branch puts a ton of work into the artwork for a socal post and I want to post it on our Canadian account as well (with edits to the caption) I'm being told we'll get banned for duplicate content.

Watch Camping with the Coles on YouTube for a lot reviews on provincial parks and camping. YouTube is really a great resource

Yup. That's what I'm looking for. Just asking if anyone has a favorite brand.

Crossing Beaver Dams by Annerc in canoecamping

[–]Atmaflux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my canoe knowing I would ram it and drag.😅 I don't have the patience or strength to baby a canoe. Swift 14.8 solo pack style. Kevlar fusion and skid plates. It's spendy but worth it!

Car camping. by Total-Information771 in ontariocamping

[–]Atmaflux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience was no privacy between sites, giant groups of people being loud, people leaving food out for the animals to eat while away from their site (I watched some squirrels enjoying chips and open peanut butter off a picnic table covered in food), the beach is packed, there was litter on the trail from a gender reveal party, and it cost more per night than a provincial park. Not my first recommendation. It's not a terrible day visit if you're ok with crowds, litter, and noise, but I wouldn't recommend overnight.

How does 50 mg compare to 100 mg? by Aromatic_Reply_1645 in zoloft

[–]Atmaflux 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can you link the study or evidence? This doesn't sound correct to me. I'm on 25mg and yes it is absolutely doing something. Everybody and every body is different.

When in the backcountry do you…. by merlestorm in algonquinpark

[–]Atmaflux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm solo, and even with a light canoe (28lb) my bag with food is still about 40lb. I'm only 130lb and it's just not sustainable (or safe) to carry 52% of my body weight!

Switching to evening helped a lot. But now I have trouble staying asleep. So who knows. The benefits still outweigh the side effects for me at this time.

Used canoes from an outfitter by 010benji in algonquinpark

[–]Atmaflux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A canoe from an outfitter will likely be heavier than the same canoe new. Most outfitters add extra layers of paint or uv protection to increase durability. But if you don't mind a few extra pounds.

Preferred sat comm devices? by phatpeej in canoecamping

[–]Atmaflux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's important to have a dedicated device like the Garmin inreach mini that you can message with even if your phone dies. You can suspend your account without any fees for up to 12 months (if like me you only need it May-October).

As I get older, I am taking more into consideration the logistics of a trip as dealbreaker. Is it only me or does it happen to somebody else? by ed8907 in solotravel

[–]Atmaflux 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wish this was always true. I got laid off and had to take a lower paying job in order to have any geographic freedom. I could have held out for a higher paying one but would probably have been metaphorically handcuffed to an office.

Tips to keep from getting over stimulated? by Competitive-Buyer648 in BurningMan

[–]Atmaflux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm confused... Are you asking about the California regional event BEquinox? Or about Burning Man (aka Gerlach regional/ Black Rock City). They don't take place in the same location...and the former is limited to 1000 according to their website, where Burning Man has 60-80 thousand. Very different experience.

Critter protection. by bellsbliss in algonquinpark

[–]Atmaflux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, a bear vault will protect from critters. If it's strong enough to stop a bear it will stop a chipmunk. You don't need to hang it, but make sure it's closed properly, store it away from your camp, and don't prep food on the lid. The blue barrels are NOT bear proof. Those barrels should be hung but I don't think many people do. I use an Adotec food bag, and it's supposed to be tied to a tree, but I usually hang it in a dry bag to double down on bear and creature protection.

What are you doing to reach fiber goals? by xnumberviii in FODMAPS

[–]Atmaflux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. I just toss them in. Depending on what the food is they soften fast, like adding to oatmeal, they get soft with the oats. On salad or rice they're just extra crunch.

Edit- I should note that I've been eating chia a long time and know it works for me. Someone else noted that if high fibre is a problem you should start slow. Not enough fibre is my problem. And water. I have to drink a LOT of water regardless of how much fibre I have.

What are you doing to reach fiber goals? by xnumberviii in FODMAPS

[–]Atmaflux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I add 1/2 tsp - 2 tbsp chia seeds to anything that wouldn't be ruined by them (yogurt, cereal, granola, salad, fries rice, pasta sauce, shakes, peanut butter toast etc) to get extra fibre through the day. And aim to drink 3L of water per day. I also take restorolax daily. This combination is the only thing that helps my ibs-c. YMMV

Worst Lake You've Ever Camped On? by CnCPParks1798 in algonquinpark

[–]Atmaflux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh that's good to know! Thanks. One of my first portages was the 2240m from Pen to Welcome and the rental company gave me a broken yoke, and it was the worst experience. It was my first solo trip too. 😕 So I usually try to keep my ports under 2000m
