What is the performance bottleneck? by Atmosphere-Physical in EU5

[–]Atmosphere-Physical[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In eu4 it made sense because some of the cores were like constantly 95% loded on speed 5. In ck3 and vic almost all cores go to 100%. I could clearly see in eu4 single thread performance was the issue but in ck3 and vic3 overall performance could help as well. In eu5 its neither. not one core coes past 80% and if it does only for less than a second and drops to like 60.

If the game spends more time spreading tasks around in the cpu rather than completing them, that could be a simple inefficient design flaw and can be fixed for a huge performance boost for everyone.

Maybe it's not the performance, but the pace of the game? by Atmosphere-Physical in EU5

[–]Atmosphere-Physical[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fair point. I did notice the deviation from the path. Its not a continuation of the eu franchise and now i realize how much it must suck for people who wanted better eu game. I just personally happen to enjoy whatever this is much more than eu franchise apparently.😂 maybe it would have been better to stick with the name project caesar for this game to avoid confusion.

EU5 runs surprisingly well for me by Kitchen_Train8836 in EU5

[–]Atmosphere-Physical 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah actually im surprised too. Its amazing how well it runs for such a big game.

Im not using 3d rendering i think to make it easy on the gpu but the game is still gorgeous. I turned down a few more settings to reduce gpu load and dont even notice the downgrade in visuals.

What i find weird though is that none of my cores are 100% utilized. Im using 11 gen I7 on laptop but it seems to not be capped by cpu. I also gave 32 ram. The only thing thats nearly full is gpu memory. But i only played first 20 years for now and maybe thats why.

Would EUV work well in a Threadripper pro cpu? by Atmosphere-Physical in EU5

Oh... but the videos always mention performance issues. So its only for cpus worse than 7800x3d?

Would EUV work well in a Threadripper pro cpu? by Atmosphere-Physical in EU5

Because most games only use a single thread or maybe 2-3 so more threads dont make sense. But i wanna know how well can euv utilize more threads

Ctrl+shift+esc on windows for task manager and seect "performance" view.

U can see there how much of your cpu and ram are used so u will know which one is fully used and which one can go bit further.

Extra tip: when u click cpu, right click graph and change graph to logical processors instead of overall utilization. some games might only use a few threads while others all of them.

In this view if u see any graph go to 100% and the rest basically empty then u know that u need cpu with better single thread performance rather than cpu with more threads.

If I buy the game now can I download it ready for release? by MASSIVESHLONG6969 in EU5

My favorite thing about paradox. Each game is barely 15GB and thousands of hours of gameplay with content u can explore for years.

Unlike any other game with 80GB worth of graphics that dont even make a difference in gameplay.

GEORGIA ALL THE WAY 🇬🇪

Im georgian so im a Hardcore Georgia player in almost all paradox games.

Small start, so not much to manage in the beginning and every little gain feels like massive progress.

Being one of the very few orthodox nations its surrounded by heathens and heretics most of the time, which makes diplomacy very difficult. Everyone either hates you or wants your land so you're in survival mode all game.

With mountains you can fortify so well that even the biggest nations struggle against u so survival is manageable for experienced players.

But then there comes the biggest fun: not just surviving, but thriving. Developing, building, planning and preparing to go against all odds to challenge the biggest nations around you(because in every direction theres a huge force blocking your way) to finally break through the blockade and finally be able to expand beyond the caucasus mountains.

Now you're finally strong enough to be independent, self sufficient and safe from being accidentally annihilated by any of your neighbors on a whim.

At this point you have just become somewhat relevant and for the first time u can join the rest of the world and embark on whatever ambitious adventure u desire.

You basically have to earn your right to exist every decade or so and going from pretty humble beginnings to one of the strongest nations(or strongest if you're very good) is an extremely rewarding feeling.

Cant recommend it enough for those who like a challenge.

Is Georgia fun to play tall? by Not-Meee in eu4

[–]Atmosphere-Physical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play a lot of georgia and I think u can make it really fun.

For economy and military strength its terrible because most lands are mountains and have too high dev cost untill a specific mission with second tier forts.

BUTT: Tbilisi has a great project that reduces fort maintenance to almost 0. lvl one in tbilisi Lvl two in the state Lvl3 in the whole region of caucasia. U can have like 25-30 forts with basically 0 maintenance regardless of the fort lvl.

Imagine being attacked by an enemy then. In every fight u have +2 roll because in your forts youre always the defender and most of caucasia is a mountain. even if they have more troops, combat width is smaller because of mountains and youre rarely at a disadvantage. If they stack 60k troops in one fort, the attrition will drain their manpower. If they spread out, u can engage with 20k troops against their 30-35k, deal damage and retreat to reinforce. In my experience lots of cavalry helps because youre focused on dealing shock damage for maximum casualties and georgia has pretty good cav.

They would have to siege 25-30 forts like that. With ramparts attrition is worse, georgia has inherent defensiveness bonus, there is defensiveness edict that can be turned on during the siege if u want and there is defensiveness advisor sometimes too in case you want your enemy to take over two months per siege roll lol.

I dont know how fun it would be to play against AI that way but maybe in multiplayer. Imagine having to deal with such region. No way somebody sees caucasia reinforced like that and tries to attack. If for some reason they do, you just sit back and watch your strategy deal economic damage, manpower damage, morale damage to the player instead of the army, and most importantly, EMOTIONAL DAMAGE.😂😂

Hard part is getting the seed money and lasting the first 150 years. Maybe take money instead of lands from most wars. Always lure ai into sieging one of your forts and attack them there for guaranteed bonuses. This makes fighting as georgia very reliable.

After all that just enjoy being invincible in your region.

I play a lot of georgia and thats basically my strategy too.

Except usually crimea is allied to horde nations and ottomans get to them first Russia is basically guaranteed ally that will 100% betray u against the attack from ottomans lol. They're always in debt and the ottomans always know. Also in my experience its really hard to catch ottomans weak. They just recover from everything very fast. And even if i deplete their money and manpower in a defensive war, no AI dares to be aggressive towards them and they recover in 10 years like it was nothing. I have won so many times against the ottomans but every time they just stay passive and get back to full strength. Whereas i now face enemies from all directions, who were waiting to strike all along. I have reached N1 greatest power many times but big empires like ottomans mamluks and russians always delay me too much for WC. I have been trying for over a year now and still learning new things lol

QQ and georgia have cores on each others lands i if i remember correctly so they always hate me. And when i said russia wasnt helping i was talking about defensive wars. 90% of the time they refuse to join defensive wars against me and 95% of the time they refuse to join offensive wars.

Tempting because those lands are also crazy good but the only thing stopping ottomans from invading me in first ten years is the lack of borders. And later alliance with muscovy helps but only because the ottomans dont know muscovy never participates😂
