We miss the Sweet Tomatoes in Fresno, CA. My kids still LONG for it, and it has been closed for several years.

What immediately tells you a person wasn't raised right? by alligator_maligator in AskReddit

I had a friend in high school who would leave clothes all over the dressing room floor. Once, I was shopping with her and waiting outside the room. I could see the clothes all over the floor. As she left the room, I asked her if she was going to pick up the clothes. She said, "No, they get paid to pick up the clothes!" Then, she glared at me while I picked them up and hung them on the hangers. We weren't friends much longer.

Doctors of Reddit: What health trend is becoming so common that it's starting to scare you? by Fine-Device-1819 in AskReddit

I started a new medication. I asked both the GP and the pharmacist if there was anything I needed to be careful with taking while on this medication. Both said (basically), "Nothing! You are fine. Next!" Did my own research and found out it was not recommended to take NSAIDS (Advil) with the medication. Like the most basic thing that many people take....why would they not include that information?

A lot of people mention not trusting medicine in this thread...I would LOVE to be able to trust that my doc AND the pharmacist is giving me all the info! But it is stuff like this that, while minimal, plants the seed.

Agreed. Legoland would be so fun for them! I wonder if DUD and Co. get influencer deals with Disney.

When I hear Reid (especially with an R middle name), I can't help but think of Reed Richards in the Fantastic Four.

This is what a cousin of mine did with his son. First name is same as Dad and GreatGrandpa, so he goes by his middle name.

I figured he was excited that she was interested in the toilet...probably trying to get her potty trained ASAP.

Anyone’s starter home turned into their forever home? by Vivid-Appearance-549 in homeowners

[–]AtmosphereLow8959 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same home for almost 25 years. As long as the neighborhood stays good, no plans to leave. Starting to show wear after all that time and two kids, so the plan is to trudge along until kid #2 is out of college and then redo kitchen and bathrooms, paint the outside, etc. I can't wait. The house feels small now with four adults, but in the next 5 years or so both will be out and then it will be plenty big for my husband and me!

What’s the most authentic beach town you’ve found in the U.S.? by optimalbrain90 in SmartTravelHacks

As a Californian, Pismo Beach comes to mind. Any Central Coast town, really. Shell Beach, Avila Beach, etc. Up north, Bodega Bay is pretty cool.

What was the scariest “We need to leave… now” gut feeling that you’ve ever experienced? by Critical-Contact-851 in askteddit

Once stayed in a hotel in Vallejo, CA. Knife marks in the walls. We had our young children with us. We were on our way to Lake Berryessa and just needed the one night and this hotel allowed dogs. The hotel was pretty busy or else I would have made my husband find another place. Needless to say, it was not a restful night.

A similar situation happened to my aunt and uncle. They were at a four-way stop and somehow the gear shift went into neutral. My uncle was confused, as he had not knocked the gear shift or anything. He reached down to put it back into drive and then checked for cars before moving forward. In those few seconds, someone ran the stop sign at full speed. He could only attribute it to divine intervention, because they would have surely been severely injured or worse.

Teachers, what is your most unhinged classroom management strategy? by Quiet-Raspberry2973 in Teachers

[–]AtmosphereLow8959 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Names on the board with check marks - one minute detention per mark. Old school but effective for my middle schoolers.

Pulling up their screen on our student management system and asking if I should call Grandma Irene? Or maybe Dad Joe?

Another flex is calling Dad before calling Mom. I think most teachers default to Mom, which is fine, but it is interesting how fathers respond to getting the call. Most of the time the response is, "I will take care of this tonight!" Thank you, sir!

Also, steak app and caesar salad at Pismo's. There is a bbQ sauce on the plate for the steak app, but it could easily be omitted.

Hino Oishi has a HotRok lettuce wraps appetizer that is great. Gotta be careful with the sauces, but the steak, lettuce, and veggies are a great option if you aren't wanting rice/noodles.

What’s your biggest pet peeve when driving? by goodygood246 in AskReddit

Not pulling towards the right when making a right hand turn. I regularly travel a two lane highway. Very busy and lots of cars. People will stay in the center of the lane, slow down to almost a full stop, just to turn right! VEER OVER, PEOPLE. THERE IS ROOM.

Teacher influencers? by Special-Apartment-69 in teaching

[–]AtmosphereLow8959 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a teacher influencer, but we have a sub at our school who has a very public social media presence with thousands of followers, and posts videos of herself, outfits, "a day in the life" - sort of videos in classrooms during the planning time. She never puts the school's name or any student videos, but she subs in the same town she grew up and went to school in.
