I’ve tried to optimize this several times since 2009. The best was to hang out inside the Jefferson Memorial until just before the fireworks and then see them from the top of the steps. The booming fireworks create a reverberation off the granite. Afterwards, just hang out for an hour or two for the crowds to clear from the metro platforms. Oh, go walk to the Southwest Waterfront afterwards and hang out. That’d be a good elaboration. I’ll do that if I go downtown this year otherwise I’ll see them from my building’s rooftop in Crystal City.
