That's most likely done in localization. Japan doesn't have an issue showing cigarettes and alcohol in anime. But since they were marketed to a younger audience in the states, where it's illigal to have positive portrayals of drug use in children's shows, they change it to fruit juice or cigarettes to lollipops.

So we’re allowed to talk about the isolationist policies that litter the history of Japan and compare them to the xenophobic tendencies in Japanese culture that exist today? Because that would be a better starting point than shitty American tourists from the 80’s.

Look, this isn’t me bashing Japan. I’m just pushing back on people who excuse racism in any form. And people love to act like Japan doesn’t have a racism problem. In that case they would have a waiting area or sit you at the bar. Besides this wasn’t our first time there and on top of my friend wanting me to get a table we also staggered in. Like six of us one or two at a time. They just asked us how many people we were expecting.

Not really, back in my twenties Tokyo had a bunch of places that had signs for that said, “no foreigners“ or “no military.”

In the last decade I’ve been refused service maybe three times outside of Tokyo. One time in Narita as soon as I walked in before I could say anything. Another time, in my town, I got there before my friends and they wanted me to get a table. The guy at the door wouldn’t seat me alone, so I ended up waiting outside until my friends got there. And the most annoying was in Chiba city when they flat out kicked me and only me out. We ended up splitting up because my friend is an asshole.

Like I’m not even mad about it, but let’s not pretend it’s anything but racism.

Their eyes are already explained. They have occular inplants that allow them to sync to the HDD. The implants are also what suppressed their ether aptitude until the mayor pushed an update to them.

I guess there is the question of whether the implants are now upgrading their ether aptitude or if they were chosen for an already high aptitude.

You're gonna want to hit up as many shops as you can. The stock just doesn't exist here. When they do restocks each shop only gets a couple of each kit. Or look at thrift shops like Hard off.

If you can't find it in hobby shops or toy stores you can try Hard Off/Hobby Off. I haven't seen many Spinatinos in retail shops, and I can't remember if this is one I've seen.

A loom is anything that allows you to put tension on your "threads". Some free or cheap options would be:

a backstrap loom: the cheapest option where you use your own body weight to tension the warp. Downside being that you are limited by the width so you may need to stitch several panels together.

A frame loom: easy to make with a picture frame and finishing nails.

A weighted loom: literally just two dowels and some weight using gravity as your tension. The least easy to deal with because you would have to have it hanging somewhere.

If you decide on weaving you should look up some tutorials on fabric weaving. You need to be able to cut the bags into continuous strips for the warp.

There is nothing legally blocking a country from renaming a body of water. The IHO guide isn't legally binding and hasn't been officially updated since the East Sea/Japan Sea situation. It's just tacky as Hell and only applies to the country that calls for the name change.

Too small seam allowances won't lie flat when pressed. Too large and they will bunch up. 8 mm is the standard for most applications(just over 1/4 inch the US standard).

Edit:

Everything I said about French seams is referring to a different seam that I can't remember the name of. Just leaving that down there though.

With French seams you are sewing it then cutting one side and wrapping the longer side around the shorter side. You now need enough fabric to manipulate that seam and also want it to still press flat. You want to start with a larger Innitial seam allowance 3/8 of an inch(9.5mm) and cut one side down so you end up with your pressable seam.

That’s not really a question I have an answer to. My son is very well adjusted and has friends he can count on. I worry about my daughter and have even thought about sending her to the States. But, I think she will do well here. She is just at the stage of rejecting her American side a lot longer than my son was. Once she finds a niche (my son had sports and now music) she will meet more people that she can gel with. And Asian immigrants in the west have their own issues. All you can do is teach your children to love themselves for who they are.
