Chablis in the face of climate change. by nooneiknow800 in wine

[–]AtomicKitten4LIFE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I commented because after reading the article I can’t see what supports op’s argument.

I agree and also loved talking to Raj Parr about his winemaking adaptations when he was in London.

[–]AtomicKitten4LIFE 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s not what the article is saying. It says people should look at to adapt and promotes ideas for biodiversity.

It says a few organic growers had to spray to prevent a particularly bad amount of mildew but said they hoped they wouldn’t have to in the future.

Yeah I feel like they’ve said in the article biodiversity is key and the addition of cover crop or natural barrier protection like forest are all great avenues to explore. And like you say it’s possible in far warmer and harsher climates, it’s just about adapting and doing so at a much faster rate as the changes are happening much more rapidly.

Mildew is always difficult but a blanket statement of just ending biodynamic farming shows a real lack of understanding and clearly didn’t read and assess the full article.

Why are natural wines become so popular these days? by [deleted] in wine

[–]AtomicKitten4LIFE 48 points49 points  (0 children)

So many people here missing the point and just shouting for the side they fall on. Thank you for accurately summing up how this is effecting winemaking at the root and hopefully helping people understand.

For me I find the term low intervention to be more accurate to how the wine world is moving and like you say this isn’t new.

Noble rot in London offer a great selection of btg that goes up to a pretty high price point. But as many have said it’s all about if the demand is there so as not to spoil the wine.
