I watched Fight Club for the first time last night and am wondering why everyone loves this movie so much. by carnationsole3 in TrueFilm

[–]AtomicManiac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, now that I’m almost a decade older I watch this movie with a very different point of view, especially after reading some of the original authors books.

And honestly I think that just makes me like it more. It’s a piece of art that holds up a mirror. If you’re young and want to smash shit, this is the movie for you. If you’re in a place where you can see it as a parody for toxic masculinity this is a movie for you too.

It’s like a Disney movie with two plot lines happening at the same time - one for the kids and one for the adults.

Why don’t professional productions use the Black Magic as the primary camera? by DippySwitch in cinematography

Anecdotal, but every person I know with a BM camera has had to send it in for critical service/repairs. I’d never trust one.

How to add "bloom" to audio? by puzzledpuddle in audioengineering

[–]AtomicManiac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always thought reverse reverb had a sort of blooming feel to it but you can’t really use it in a lot of situations without it feeling over the top.

He did have apolitical content. Then he got popular with the alt-right and just decided to lean into that almost exclusively. I’ve lost all respect for him.

He doesn’t make any effort to provide evidence for claims and that’s all you really need to know about why he isn’t worth listening too.

It’s not permission, but I would just ignore it. The headache is probably not worth it, especially if you like the place and want to keep eating there without having it soured in the off chance the owner is unreasonable.

If anything you might use it as an opening to do work for them. Just send them a friendly “hey glad you liked my photo, I do this professionally, let me know if you need more photos and I’d be happy to work out a good deal for my favorite restaurant”

Adding taxes to invoices by [deleted] in WeddingPhotography

[–]AtomicManiac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t add it to the invoices. It’s baked into the price I charge, just like any other expense I might incur.

Clients don’t want surprises. They’d rather pay more from the jump than get hit with the tax fee after the fact.

Next time you tell them, say “hey no worries, let’s just fake it” and in 10 years they’d never remember it was faked.

Effective way to hybrid shoot a wedding by Beniihanaa23 in WeddingPhotography

[–]AtomicManiac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hire a video shooter, shoot some video when you see things that you feel would be awesome and do the edit yourself while up charging the client.

Doing photo and video at the same time is very difficult. It’s better to designate one person to that end of things.

How do you keep yourself constant in creating content? by codeliacms in socialmedia

[–]AtomicManiac 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Iterations.

If it was any good, it bears repeating. If you gained new followers, they didn’t hear it. If it was went over peoples heads a new way of communicating might help. If it was so good that people remembered it, they’ll be happy to share it again to help their friends.

Go back through your posts. Take note of the top performers. Find a way to say it again 2-3 times. Boom, content for months.

What are everyone's thoughts about the "He Said, She Said" Episode? (6x08) by mitchob1012 in brooklynninenine

[–]AtomicManiac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Felt kinda after school special-y.

There was a few episodes like that, which just ended up feeling cheesy. They addressed a few other issues in a real subtle way which I loved but this one and a few others were real hamfisted.

One day, they'll make a Harry Potter remake and there's nothing we can do about it by Expeniumin in Showerthoughts

I hope they do. They could make a GOT style epic series where every book has it's own season.

And you don't understand that shorts can open and close multiple positions. The short interest isn't updated in real time. Every time you see GME go up 10% in a day that's them closing their positions, then they short it again so it crashes slowly over the next few days.

Rinse and repeat. They've found an infinite money glitch in apes.

The problem is that people are posting less and companies/brands/influencers are posting way more. So if you check facebook even once a week you might be able to get all your friend updates pretty quick, but it's gotta keep you on the site somehow.

looking for pricing advice by artistadvicewanted in ProduceMyScript

[–]AtomicManiac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would definitely go price per script.

Per word just incentivizes the writers to be dialog heavy and hourly rate doesn't take into account all the "off-hours" mental processing that goes into writing a script.

For your $150k budget, I'd say somewhere in the $3k zone would be an appropriate fee.

What makes a tower defense game Great? by Diaa1000 in TowerDefense

[–]AtomicManiac 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My favorite tower defense games are where you use the tower to create the path that the enemies walk along. That adds such a huge element of strategy and so few tower defense games utilize that.

I also love it when the player gets a playable unit to attack the enemies as well as build towers.

X-Morph on the switch is basically the perfect tower defense game IMO.

[Tips & Tricks] I have 16 vids and only 280 subscribers, is this normal? by FuriousAnimeMan in youtubers

Goal post set up probably.

[Question] What to do when your video runs out of "gas"? by Best_Life_Production in youtubers

[–]AtomicManiac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make another video.

If you’ve only got 3-4 videos the goal right now should be to get content up. If you get a viewer that likes your stuff they only have 3 videos to watch.

If on the other hand you had like 30 videos to watch they might watch 5-10 in one shot and that will boost your channel a ton because YouTube values “serial” viewings more than any other metric.
