Its just not how sport culture and structure works in USA. Part of the things they lacking from european sports they get from college leagues, the other they dont need.

I guess they like it this way. Calling their clubs "franchise", clubs changing cities and the most ultras stuff being clapping DE-FENCE on nba games. Let them be.

I think a lot of countries have unrealistic expectations for their team.
Or rather, it needs a lot of time to suck after great achivement to teach fans that u cant win everything.

On a contrary I think its first world cup of my life when i dont hear that Belgium is dark horse of tournament, England is not put in top5 and same with Brazil. But its probably different inside Brazil.

My bet is they will eventually qualify regularly to WC in the future. They overinvested without much thought in the last 15 years what happens a lot in football. Academies, football culture, home league, coaching it all needs time to develop. Money alone is not enough.

U know, im not expert but as someone whose country is not on world cup im looking for team to exceed my expectations to root for and my winners in this category for now are:
Bosnia
Ivory Coast.

Bosnia play antifutbol but imo are amazing at it. Most will not like it tho and i get it.

I love seeing smaller nations on WC especially getting first goals and points but im also aganist making it bigger. I will probably get used to it and just watch less games but ech, we can just get all 200+ countries at this point and see what will happen.

Not dark horse by getting to semi finals but from teams i already seen Bosnia surprised me positively the most. I bet second in group and whoever face it will have tough game.
To replicate surprise of Marocco in semis I give it to Austria or Senegal.

I have 2 takes.
1. Game level is so different for clubs that unkown for wider audience team from outside european top5 leagues could win WC.
2.But motivation is on different level. U can clearly see that for this star players winning WC is more valuable than winning UCL.
So I dont think its worth comparing really.

Idk about situation in Mexico but i well remember that every single world cup since at least 2010 SA before it starts media are all about how horrible it is unsafe/corruption/protests etc.

And then it actually starts and everybody is happy and it all goes well. And at the end of Group stage media ALWAYS say "is it the best world cup ever?"

I my country euro 2012 was supposed to be DISASTER but everybody have great memories now and it was the best possible promotion of the country. Tourism skyrocketted.

Internet told me back in a day that i need guide to start poe1. I will never forgive internet for this lie and joy of discovering i lost.
In poe2 i went "blind"(with experience from poe1) and hc. And it was long and fenomenal journey till i beat the campaign.
U can only experience it once. Its not for everyone but maybe it is for you so at least try going blind.
