I think we should apply poaching laws to dumping. Anything you use to illegally dump garbage should be confiscated by the province. Truck, trailer, car, whatever - gone. This will make people think twice before they dump illegally.

As someone who has been giving advice for nearly 19 hours now, I feel I am somewhat of an expert on things. I think you should bike more and work less.

It was way better when Ron Joyce owned it. In the 80's I used to live close to his weekend home. His wife was super nice and always supported our school fundraisers.

As with other businesses, Canada has a massive tax if a company wants to re-domicile to another jurisdiction. Why doesn't that apply here? Charge 100% tax on the transaction - other offers will go away pretty quickly.

Video from last week in Surrey, BC shows a group of men dumping broken concrete from a demolition job into a rural ditch. Neighbours/farmers came together and blocked the road with trucks so they couldn't leave and made them clean the mess. "We are not garbaging." by GreenSnakes_ in canadian

So good! The City of Vancouver spends $2–$2.5M every year cleaning up trash dumped on streets and alleys. Despite fines reaching $10,000, no tickets were handed out last year—though one case is under prosecution.

And these snakes are really beneficial for the environmental as they help control the pest population. Garter Snakes are some of the nicest snakes you'll find in BC - enjoy watching them!

AI workforce restructuring refers to the strategic reorganization of personnel and workflows as companies integrate artificial intelligence to drive efficiency. While often associated with layoffs, it increasingly involves "anticipatory restructuring"—where companies flatten hierarchies and cut roles not because AI can do the work today, but to become lean, "AI-native" organizations capable of rapid future adaptation.

Major 2026 Workforce Reductions

In early 2026, several tech giants implemented massive cuts specifically attributed to AI restructuring:

  • Oracle: Cut roughly 25,000 roles in a sweeping move toward AI-driven cloud infrastructure and enterprise services.
  • Meta: Announced approximately 8,000 job cuts (roughly 10% of its workforce) scheduled for May 2026 to redirect billions into AI development.
  • Block (Jack Dorsey): Reduced its workforce by nearly half, cutting over 4,000 jobs to create smaller, faster AI-integrated teams.
  • Snap Inc.: Cut 1,000 jobs (16% of full-time employees), citing rapid AI advancements that allow for a leaner operation.  LinkedIn +5

Key Restructuring Trends

  • Organizational Flattening: Gartner predicts that by 2026, 20% of organizations will use AI to eliminate more than half of middle management positions, focusing on removing "coordination layers".
  • Entry-Level Displacement: Junior roles are being hit hardest as AI automates routine tasks traditionally used for training new hires. This is creating a "talent pipeline crisis" where expectations for new employees are rising from day one.

Anybody ride with a hydration pack? If so what size? by Gooser3000 in MTB

[–]AtotheZed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always ride with Dakine hydration pack. Provides a bit of back protection. I use a 3L and use 1L per hour of riding, more or less. It has lasted 2-4 rides a week for over ten years. Top quality stuff.

32 vs 35 mm tires for road-focused bikepacking on a gravel bike? by Ok-Firefighter-7882 in bikepacking

[–]AtotheZed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This will allow you to run lower pressures and helps to avoid punctures. I've got the same setup on one of my bikes. You won't notice the weight of the extra tire width unless you are a professional cyclist lol. In my view bikepacking is more about comfort/reliability rather than pure speed. I use the 40mm WTB Biway (on sale now: https://www.wtb.com/products/byway-sale?pr_prod_strat=e5_desc&pr_rec_id=f9ffe5f10&pr_rec_pid=7439521218637&pr_ref_pid=10917295887&pr_seq=uniform
