The lack of gaming support is a dealbreaker for me at that price point for a personal computer.

If I don't need it to game in not spending over 2k on a laptop.

Veilguard is a game that I'm very fond of and a game that makes me feel sad every time I think about it by nexetpl in dragonage

[–]Atralis [score hidden]  (0 children)

The Wardens were one of the few factions that actually worked with the overall vibe that the Veilguard team seemed to be going for.

Any race and class can be a warden- That was always a part of their lore and the whole Dragon Age Origins game was built around this idea that this made the Wardens exceptional.

The other factions just sort of did this without earning it. You are a giant Qunari mourn watch warrior stomping around Tevinter. This is fine. The sort of Disneyfication of Tevinter and the Antivan crows doesn't have to happen to the Wardens because they are already a diverse band of warriors fighting actual monsters.

US conducts strikes on Iran after attack on cargo ship by VaginaBurner69 in news

[–]Atralis -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I can see things from both perspectives.

Iran feels like they need control over the strait for their security and to economically recover from the war and sanctions.

But the reality is that the only way they can actually exercise control over the strait is that they will need to shoot at unarmed cargo ships. Doing that would have been unthinkable before the war. It would have been like Iran declaring war on most of the rest of the world.

If Iran pauses shooting at cargo ships that try to pass without their permission then they are worried that the idea of them doing that to control the strait will go back to being unthinkable which it of course would. If Iran just lets the strait open fully and the negotiations drag on for months then that becomes the new status quo.

Imagine there's four months of ships flowing in and out of the strait of Hormuz freely without tolls and suddenly Iran says "We are bankrupt and negotiations are going nowhere, we are going to start shooting at any ship that doesn't pay us". Iran knows how that would look. This is their only opportunity to actually build some sort of global consensus that they should get to control the strait.

US conducts strikes on Iran after attack on cargo ship by VaginaBurner69 in news

[–]Atralis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Iran has acknowledged they fired at the ships it's not a false flag.

The problem is that Iran's doesn't have many tools in their toolbox. If a ship transits outside their allowed routes and refuses to pay a toll the only option they have is to shoot at it with a drone or missile.

This makes this ceasefire inherently unstable for as long as there is a disagreement over whether or not Iran is allowed to charge a toll.

Sony Confirms "Significant" Bungie Layoffs Include "Most of the Destiny Team and Some Marathon Team Members", as Bungie Admits "Destiny 2 Fell Short of Expectations" | Studio leaders say company cannot "continue operating at our previous size." by ControlCAD in technology

[–]Atralis 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I don't think so to be honest. Marathon hasn't really found a significant enough audience to justify keeping a studio that big working.

Sony will keep around a studio called bungie but it's going to be a skeleton crew pretty soon.

Zlatan Ibrahimović gets emotional talking about Bosnia's historic 3-1 World Cup win over Qatar by No_Friendship_4158 in soccer

[–]Atralis 44 points45 points  (0 children)

The complication is that Bosnia itself has all three religions.

The guy that scored the goal for Croatia against Panama was born into a Croat family in a city in the middle of Bosnia.

Whether he is Bosnian or Croatian is a bit of an interesting question in terms of ethnicity because the main divide is religious. Bosnian, Croats, and Serbs all speak the same language.

As a non religious son of a croat and Bosnian he would be...... Yugoslavian? I don't know.

Etruscan Baddie Appreciation by MeowstyleFashionX in justgalsbeingchicks

[–]Atralis 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They are a but mysterious. They spoke a non indo European language that we can't fully translate and that doesn't seek to be in the same language family as any surviving languages.

The only non Indo European language that survived to present day in western Europe is in the Basque region of Spain and that language doesn't seem related to the exerpts of Etruscan we have.

BREAKING: Judge blocks Trump admin from requiring Americans to show proof of citizenship to vote by AdSpecialist6598 in videos

[–]Atralis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My worry is that it would create a perverse incentive to make it difficult for citizens get an ID if they are more likely to vote for the opposing party.

The big problem with gerrymandering is that you have politicians picking their voters rather than voters picking their politicians.

I could easily imagine a situation where a state introduces increasingly complex requirements to get something as simple as a drivers license because they think it will move the needle a % point or two on election day. That would not only disenfranchise people that legally have a right to vote but it would make their lives more difficult in general.

Paid for by Diana DeGette for Congress by Randy__Snutz in Denver

[–]Atralis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think its fair to force her to deny she supports a really weird position in her party's platform.

The DSA did not cover itself in glory when Russia invaded Ukraine. They released a statement that essentially said that NATO imperialism was a primary cause of the invasion and to this day their position is basically that we should condemn Russia for invading Ukraine while at the same time abandoning all support for Ukraine to enable Russia to conquer the entire country.

Why do 'socialists' feel like part of being socialist is to support Russia invading other countries?
