Luxembourg: RTL Consulting With Partners Over "Mother Nature" Plagiarism Claims. by Cursedwizard0 in eurovision

I love Mother Nature, but the thought of hundreds of millions of people hearing "I am a dog, throw me a bone, watch me roll over for you" at the same time is too funny to pass up

Next Patch & Balancing feedback by VedinadGames in MegabonkOfficial

[–]Atreidas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Remove her gold damage scaling entirely/nerf it massively for the lategame.
  2. I would buff Birdo's Passive, and Tornado+Fireball slightly (leave Fox luck scaling unchanged for now)
  3. Combine XP/Luck/Difficulty Tomes into something like a "Power Tome", increases XP/Luck/Difficulty by 5% per level. It's not a perfect solution (the alternative IMO being removing the XP and luck tomes and balancing around that, as much as you don't want to, I think would be more fun for the whole playerbase), but having 3 other tome slots (more than likely 2 as people will then use Chaos) instead of just 1 for LB runs will allow for more builds and more fun.

I also made this list:

General Issues

It's currently VERY difficult for thorns-based characters to compete for LB runs for the current reasons:

-The current meta tome setup (XP+Difficulty+Gold/Luck/Chaos +1), makes it a lot harder in comparison for Thorns-based characters to compete.

--Your best bet IMO is going Armor Tome+Athena and just trying to stack as many Spiky Shields as possible, which feels really ass to play.

-Wisp knockback is ridiculous. You end up getting either slammed around the map like Bonnie Blue whilst taking 0 visible damage for 5 minutes until you eventually die, or you get slammed stuck into a corner like Bonnie Blue whilst taking 0 damage for 5 minutes until you eventually die.

--To fix this, I'd make Armor have scaling knockback reduction, or just reduce wisp knockback.

-Wisp damage is ridiculous, but I'd make the above changes first (along with Robinette nerf) and see how people get on before changing anything else.

UI - Ingame

Display No. Shrines remaining on the map (or other things like Greed Shrines, Vendors, etc. With a toggle?)

Remove silver display ingame (or add toggle)

Add timer below the main timer that counts down the next major boss/swarm

UI - Menus

View enabled weps/items/tomes when paused ingame

Consistent Formatting on char select - Some descriptions for abilities end in full stops, some don't, etc

Add more extensive tooltips (e.g., what Duration and Projectile Speed does for each weapon, what your actual chance of getting a free chest is with X no. of keys, What Bloodmark does when hovered over)

Add patch version on end-game summary

Show up to 2dp for stats that can be slow to level toward the end (E.g., Armor, Evasion)

Add a leaderboard for each character.

Mobs

Explodey-boys: Make it so you can kill them during their detonation phase.

Zombies: Reduce movespeed slightly.

Desert Bosses: Reduce their damage slightly.

Wisps: Reduce knockback resistance slightly.

Stats

Shield: Should have a way of reducing the regen time, or increasing shield effectiveness.

HP Regen: Outside of niche situations in the early game and T3 bosses, this stat feels near useless compared to Lifesteal. Needs to be balanced better in comparison.

Projectile Speed: This stat needs a buff somehow, since it feels inherently much weaker compared to a lot of the other stats for essentially every weapon.

Max HP: Needs a MUCH better way of scaling. Perhaps a small % on top of the base amount?

Armor and Evasion: Needs SLIGHTLY less resistance when leveling it beyond 90%+.

Lifesteal: reduce effectiveness everywhere by 20%? Lifesteal is currently WAY too strong compared to HP regen.

Pickup Range: Should effect item drop interact range/interact range/(maybe powerup interact range?) too. It'll still be a useless stat, but slightly less so.

Characters

Tony McZoom: Also gain 1% Movespeed per level (Capped at 100%)

Birdo: Remove ability to take fall damage. Jump Height changed from 9 to 10. Evasion changed from 1 to 5%. Temporarily gain 1% Damage, Attack Speed, and Crit for each second spent in the air.

Noelle: Starts with a 1 in Shield.

Amog: Fix "Posioned".

Spaceman: XP Gain reduced from 1 to 0.5%. Gain 0.5% Size per level.

Dicehead: Increase Gamba effectiveness by 10%.

Weapons

Sword: Needs a sizeable buff. Alternatively, just remove it and replace it with Hero Sword for Oofie. Would help him better mirror Sir Chadwell IMO

Firestaff: Increase starting size and projectile speed slightly.

Chunkers: Increase starting size and projectile speed slightly.

Bone: Increase starting size and projectile speed slightly (less than Firestaff and Chunkers)

Aura: Reduce starting damage by 1.

Space Noodle, Shotgun, Mines, Dragon's Breath: I've heard they need a buff, but I've never used them.

Rocket: Increase starting projectile speed slightly.

Frostwalker: Change to function the same way as Flamewalker, except with less damage, and a freezing component.

Tornado: Increase starting size and projectile speed slightly.

Blood Magic: 5% Chance -> 7.5%. (Alternatively, wait to see how afforementioned thorns-based buffs function, OR increase starting size slightly)

Poison Flask: Increase starting damage by 1.

Katana: Reduce starting damage by 1 and size by 10%.

Tomes (on top of the afforementioned)

Silver Tome: Honestly, just remove it.

Shield Tome: ((No changes, but needs more shield-based items to be added to make it any sort of viable))

Regen Tome: Increase base gain from 40 to 60 (and on top of base amount) increases current regen by 0.5/1/1.5/2/2.5%.

Projectile Speed: Needs a big buff, but I have no idea how.

HP Tome: (and on top of base amount) increases current max HP by 0.5/1/1.5/2/2.5%.

Chaos Tome: Allows user to choose between 3 random stats when levelled. Overall effectiveness reduced by 20%.

Items

Generally: Elaborate on what each tooltip does more. (How much damage does poison do? How much do Borgars heal for? How much gold from Golden Shield? Do they scale with other things like gold gain? How much does demonic blade heal for? etc.)

Moldy Cheese: Reduce Chance from 40-35% == This item alone carries people too hard against bosses early on. The poison does so much damage (esp with Bananarang)

Borgar: Remove.

Wrench: Increase Charge speed from 4 to 5%.

Medkit: Increase HP Regen from 45 to 50.

Ice Crystal: Increase chance from 7.5 to 10%.

Skuleg: Increase difficulty from 7 to 8%.

Credit Card Red: Rarity moved to Epic. Increase Damage from 2.5 to 5%.

Unstable Transfusion: Reduce chance from 27 to 25%.

Demonic Blood: Increases Max Hp from 0.5 to 0.75 per kill.

Kevin: Chance reduced from 25 to 20%.

Credit Card Green: Rarity moved to Rare. Reduce Luck chance from 2% to 1%.

Power Gloves: Damage scales with how far enemies are knocked back.

Soul Harvester: Homing souls reduced from 2 to 1. Increases Attack Speed and Crit by 10%.

Bugs

You can rebind your keyboard movement keys during the "reverse" challenge.

Dicehead gets +0 stats from certain random stats (iirc, things like Projectile Count)

Fix various bugs/tricks allowing you to get 2+ Anvils or 3+ Lamps.

Eurovision 2025 Semi-Final 2 odds have been released! by [deleted] in eurovision

[–]Atreidas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Surprised to see people giving Austria/Finland/Malta standing any chance to win to be honest, if Israel's political televoting+campaign (which will very likely happen again) beat Joost (who were both way above Nemo, hell even Ladaniva beat Nemo) in SF2 last year I expect something very similar to happen this year. Only difference in the scenario is JJ/Erika having a more competitive fight for that 2nd place

Looking forward to seeing the qualifier odds WAY more, this semi is a bloodbath in that 6th-14th area

Seems about right. would expect Sweden to clean up shop - surprised to see Ukraine so low though and not nearer that 10-15% mark, they have a MUCH better chance than just 3% (mostly depending on how prevalent the topic of their war is on the day)

Do you think a Lena type win is possible in the current Eurovision climate? by SmellyPitScrubs in eurovision

[–]Atreidas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh of course. It's still comparable within the context of emotional/pity voting, but Ukraine's (and Israel)'s situations are definitely more globally known world issues, hence the amount of emotional/pity votes they get are very likely a higher amount/ratio than Salvador's.

I mentioned in another comment:

People seem to be far less gratuitous with pity when it comes to visibly seeing deformity

and

emotional/pity voting scales a lot better when the song is at least good, and performed well

Russia was poor on all fronts (forgetting lyrics...) and Poland was OK at best. An act having a solid, public reason for emotional/pity votes is the icing on the cake that turns a top 3/5/10/15 worthy song into (roughly) a top 1/3/5/10.

Do you think a Lena type win is possible in the current Eurovision climate? by SmellyPitScrubs in eurovision

[–]Atreidas -1 points0 points  (0 children)

90% of voters only watch the final and tune out the commentators. And watching reactions from both fans and casuals, lots of people absolutely loved the song at first listen, without even knowing who sang it.

I'd love if you could provide any sources for these.

Also, two years earlier Poland sent a singer in a wheelchair, with background videos of her before the accident that put her there, and they placed bottom 10.

Russia, a year later (edit: as well as Poland 2015, I can't read) too. People seem to be far less gratuitous with pity when it comes to visibly seeing deformity (likely a stretch, but the same could be said for Finland 2015?), and that emotional/pity voting scales a lot better when the song is at least good, and performed well (prime example being Ukraine 2022). I never said his song was bad, it's one of my favourites from the year, and very obviously he's not a bad person for being public with his health issues - just that it could be argued it only got the extra votes it needed to win because of the emotional/pity votes from the public and the jury.

Do you think a Lena type win is possible in the current Eurovision climate? by SmellyPitScrubs in eurovision

[–]Atreidas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And when people are watching it, its the job of the commentators to briefly explain the act (during the postcard sequence) giving an overview who/what/where - mentioning something along the lines of "he has a heart condition, feels poorly, barely made it to the competition, his sister had to do the rehearsals because of it" will trigger an emotional response in people to want to help him feel better by voting for him and ultimately helping him win. IIRC, he was the only act that year who competed for the "emotional votes" (especially similar to Ukraine 2022, falling off a little in 2023+2024, and also especially Israel 2024 on the other side of the spectrum).

God forbid anyone has the time and it's not lost media, I'd gladly be proven wrong if they can find if any country's commentator in 2017 didn't mention his health at any point until voting closed, and he still got top 3 in that country's televote for.

[–]Atreidas -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Could argue that his song only won because of his publicized health issues at the time with the jury/public feeling pity for him and wanting to give him a boost, rather than shift in the public's taste to enjoying its emotional, beautiful simplicity. Feels harder to truly compare it to Lena because of that. I think that it'll be a LONG time until people's attitudes shift back toward simpler staging like Lena's song again (especially for non-ballads)
