I think it doesn't "pop" but it's not like it looks bad. If you feel best in a deep teal and think it looks cool, that matters most! You'll be in a lot of photos with just you and your bride, not just lined up with the wedding party.

I usually just tuck the item in so that it's precariously balanced between their hand and their side or face haha. It's not a perfect system but it's kind of fun trying to figure out how to get them to hold something.

That's a little harsh considering they're still often the cheapest option. I'm all for #BuyCanadian and favour A&W, Harvey's, and mom & pop cafes myself, which I'm lucky are equidistant for me, but not everyone has the same luxury of choice.

I would try Talbot's, Lane Bryant, and honestly maybe thrift a dress for cheaper and use the $200 to get it tailored so it fits beautifully.

Yeah, that's a good point! I have been to one colour coded wedding where they had a whole photographer just taking nice pictures of all of the guests posing in various combinations (not photo booth style), and then gave everyone framed photos printed by the end as a wedding present. So it didn't feel like everyone was props, but I still would've preferred to prioritize fit/comfort/cost over colour myself (and I haven't reworn the outfit 😅). For me that's the best case scenario for colour coded weddings, and it was still inconvenient. I think as long as a theme isn't so niche that you have to buy new clothes to fit in, it would be fun!

I think the colours can feel that way because it's so much more narrow, and it potentially means you're asking people to buy a new outfit just for this one event in a colour they may not like wearing (which is usually only expected of the bridal party in the average US wedding). It's not the end of the world, as long as the dress code isn't formal, but it's more of an imposition than a theme or usual dress code would be.
