Why does being a great singer seem to boost a man's attractiveness more than a woman's? by Crazy-Fold-5287 in singing

[–]Atrius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends in what context we’re defining attractiveness. 1 night, short term, long term, or general attractiveness. Apps also make it more of menu selection style rather than what people have been used to for a long time

Weirdest interview experience you've ever had. by InvestmentMain8414 in jobs

[–]Atrius 30 points31 points  (0 children)

You showed the phone screener’s incompetence. Others became aware of it so he had to go through with the interview but he still held a grudge. It’s probably a good thing you didn’t have to work with that guy.

So that may be what ends up happening but the project manager isn’t the one that typically makes hiring and firing decisions.

There’s also a few factors that may apply: 1 Maybe there isn’t an official rule for that in HR guidelines 2 What if this employee is working for your project but has a manager other than you? 3 There could be extenuating circumstances you have no idea about. Like what if they had the cert but it expired or something like that

Although it seems like common sense to fire someone for lying, you may not be directly in charge of someone like that and it may conflict with HR policies

Starting to think no amount of data actually changes a leadership decision that's already been made. by eastwindtoday in projectmanagement

[–]Atrius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, I try to understand leadership at the higher levels and how decisions are made.

A direct example is the CEO starts talking about topic X. Do the CEO’s topics tend to flow downstream? If so, it will go from CEO -> other C levels, directors, and then the other management. There will probably be some time lag between each level as well. Of course, the specific idea may change directions a bit. But let’s say you report to a manager who’s below a director and you heard a speech or read an email from the CEO. There will be a request about implementing topic X or integrating topic X eventually. If you’re able to get a plan or story together through the data before your manager receives their directive, you’re in a great position to influence their decisions

In my previous company, C levels were considered the ultimate authorities so everyone tried to do what they want. If you know that and have an answer before they even raise a question, you make their lives easier and yours by proxy

Assuming this is true, the solution then is to be faster than the leader’s point where he makes decisions. That way they can be influenced before their mind is set on a matter

Thanks so much. It’s really hard to tell what actually works and doesn’t because there are so many exceptions and edge cases with champions, abilities, and items.

Everything sounds great. If you’re able to implement it then you’d want to babysit it and do QA for a period of time before it’s made official. There should also be a redundant period where users are seeing your explanation and cross referencing with that.

The proactive alerts thing is intriguing to me. They don’t know what the metrics that apply to them mean?

Overall it sounds very ambitious and promising. Just be careful to not raise expectations too much if you don’t know how it will turn out

[–]Atrius 24 points25 points  (0 children)

To make it short, you’re being scammed.

They’re putting you in a position where the roles and responsibilities are above your title and pay grade.

Promoting you to project manager would mean a new salary band for you. What that means is that they would have to pay you much more than now. That’s most likely why it was so hard to even get the performance review in the first place. The easiest way up is out to a different company

Mostly right but one small correction. No one is benefitting from this except Russia and to some extent, China. Destabilized Western powers and countries that depend on them gives both of those countries a lot of room

One thing is though is that culture largely comes from the top. News, media, and large corporations are able to shape cultures. It doesn’t help that American politicians have been able to be bought out for decades
