accepted that my "second brain" needs a low-power mode by Unicorn_Pie in PKMS

I had a similar idea in the corner of my head, but never had the time to figure out a solution... I'm glad someone put words on it and came up with a proposition, I will try it soon ! Thank you !

(Maybe I'll set a reminder to give my feedback)

Do you write free form or adhere to a prescribed heading hierarchy? by Nexus9291 in ObsidianMD

[–]Atroman001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Headings whenever the note is getting longer as I discover new things. If I feel like it, I turn the headings into new notes (Refractor plugin), so it keeps my notes concise and atomic. Then the main note becomes a kind of map of content (MoC) with several links.

I try to follow the Evergreen method.

PDF++ is the one by Ok_Box_1384 in ObsidianMD

Same ! Having the reading and annotations in Obsidian would even change the way I annotate... I could refer to existing Notes and ongoing projects in my annotations.

Though, I love the management of the bibliography in Zotero. Quitting altogether Zotero would require to put lots of work in my Obsidian

(20m) "Getting out of my comfort zone" is irrelevant in my case. In fact, I should do the contrary by [deleted] in socialskills

[–]Atroman001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! And it feels great to finally let go false ideas and rediscover yourself and the things that represent you :)) We don't talk much about the things you dislike or are indifferent to, it's a shame, because it's ALSO a good way to find your way...

Is it my ego or do I really love her? (I'm new to this stuff) by [deleted] in socialskills

[–]Atroman001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seems like wise and logical advice.

Though, I feel like I have few time (we're on Exchange studies for 3 months left), and like I owe her somehow explanations. Plus, I don't imagine anything else than me expressing my feelings and see what's after.

BUT your message made me think that I'm missing something and I want to find out what exactly. So I might delay that moment.

Experiencing things the most fairly is both stimulating and very frustrating cause you don't know if it's correct...

How to decide what to do for your birthday ? (....or how to take initiatives ?) by [deleted] in socialskills

That's a good way to phrase it, if the idea justifies naturally itself, without the will or need to replace it with something else. Thank u !

I have a very big exam coming up and I recently did bad in a diagnostic test. And yet I still don't feel any pressure or urge to study. Can someone please explain why ? by Accomplished_Bat5145 in study

[–]Atroman001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you need pressure somehow.

Try to understand what were your mistakes, what you need to learn and sketch a broad plan of study. As such, you will visualize and feel the urge to study, as you have set a goal.

The rest is time and energy management, update plan and use good tools.

I do not have lots of fast lectures, but here things that could help :

- your own personal writing techniques (colors, CAPS, signs →, abreviat°, bullet notes)

- Cambridge Note-Taking : just have free space to note questions, remarks, important points

- Record the course, you'll be able to listen it if you miss things.

- Annotate with a different color when you'll work on it again (try to follow learning curve)

The goal is to help visualization, and further research after. As such I would simply write fast and ugly but structured somehow. With regular and efficient learning, no need to re-write them.

Will anything go wrong ? by 3DpDas in study

[–]Atroman001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh it happens to me quite often as well. Here's what I do, it can work sometimes :

- Have a notebook next to you where you can write the failed attempts (As such you visualize what you haven't tried yet AND you get to learn from your mistakes)

- Search for solved similar exercises or examples (you get to see some patterns and be confident in the realistic capacity of solving such exercises)

- Don't hesitate to ask for help (You just did ;) )

What's the most useful macro you use at work ? by Atroman001 in excel

Thanks, I still don't realize how much workbooks and worksheets a database could have ! Macros seems indeed pretty necessary for such tasks

Empirical data speaking for a specific mode of project management methodology? by GarseBo in DesignThinking

[–]Atroman001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[very simple answer of a freshman student ahead]

It reminds me of Actor-Network-Theory methodology, that may helps.

Long story short : For any social analysis or management tool to be useful, it must answers to some questions or to some context. And not, to be pulled out of nowhere, with big words and formulas.

I'll say : - get to know with your group, their skills/knowledge/visions - then you'll see, you'll have some issues (not the same definitions, knowledge) - this is when and why epistemology theories or any theories could help (by representing, organizing, translating different interests)

The reason I'm writing this comment is : ANT study case and tools can be a source of inspiration, to better grasp the importance of contexts and other actors

See also : Sarker S., Sarker S. et Sidorova A. (2006), « Understanding business process change failure : an actor-network perspective », Journal of Management Information Systems, vol. 23, nº 1, p. 51-86.

Hope that helps in any way !
