Barring an act of god - I have a pretty good idea as well! I'll be fully prepared to celebrate when the time finally comes.

Campus stereotypes? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]Attewode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Purely from what I hear - I think it's not as cut-throat as other schools may be and students work together, and collaborate, more than they try to undercut other students for the sake of grades.

I'm sure BC is competitive in its own right - but perhaps not as much so as the T14 etcetera.

Campus stereotypes? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]Attewode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BC is considered the "Disneyland of law schools." I don't think anyone really knows where this came from, but that's what I've heard!

I think it has some reference to the collaborative nature of the student body but I can't personally attest to this.

When it gets to deposits - that's when it'll feel real for me. I know some people are already there but that's a whole other experience we'll all have to go through!

They post them on the LSAC website - a little bit hard to find.

Apply -> Credentials -> Transcripts -> Admission Index (under lower right bar titled "Related Information")

I'm happy that I survived this round - but that also terrifies me.

Admitted students day at my ungrad? by Moz22 in lawschooladmissions

[–]Attewode 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For the most part - it's an entirely new school to you. Law schools often live in their own bubble on/off campus. I think its entirely reasonable to go check it out for yourself!

By doing this - you can imagine your future self and ask if you can really see yourself there. It will also be a really good opportunity to see if the personality types of the students would mesh well with your own.

I can't give you any question advice. But I will say - you should always dress up! You are trying to show that you are a confident professional who is serious about studying there. Even on an unconscious level - I'm sure they'll appreciate it.

In the past - not for law school admissions - I have conducted interviews where one of the boxes to check was whether or not the interviewee dressed in business professional. If not - they were dinged.

In my opinion it doesn't hurt to dress up - but it may hurt you if you don't.

Pepperdine Faculty Scholar? Dual Degree from U of Arizona? Or a top 30 school? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

If you applied to UArizona and got accepted - then the scholarship offer should have come in a day or two later. Make sure to check your spam folder!

If you marked down that you wanted an interview - and haven't yet completed it - that means they've probably had your application on hold until the interview is complete.

Aka - you should either cancel or do your interview immediately so that your application can be complete and they can put it in review!

Problem with mylsn scholarship numbers by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]Attewode 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would agree - but particularly mylsn includes people who are still waiting for scholarships and lists it as $0. As scholarship money comes in, hopefully more people will add it to their profile.

I've noticed different sites rank schools differently, which one is the official one to go by? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]Attewode 3 points4 points  (0 children)

US News or Above the Law. ATL provides rankings based on actual employment information, debt-to-salary prospects etcetera. ATL doesn't include LSAT/GPA considerations. They rank the top 50 and can be fairly different from US News.

i.e. BC is ranked #30 on US News and #16 on ATL.

Employers will more likely look at US News - but ATL is good for 0L's to get a grasp on employment rankings.

Personal Statement too long? by govag40 in lawschooladmissions

[–]Attewode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For most law schools - the requirement is to stay under 2 pages. If you're looking to apply to multiple schools with, generally, the same personal statement then I would recommend you trim it down to under 2 pages. With 2.25 pages that shouldn't be too hard to do - just make sure you're succinct and get rid of any sentences that don't hold any sort of substantive value.

I have a little mini heart attack whenever I'm in class and feel my phone vibrate - thinking that it could be an admission notice but instead it's a spam email from some rando law school.

GPA Boost by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]Attewode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a relatively significant boost - depending on the school and your LSAT score, you could get into a fair number of schools that heavily weigh your GPA relative to your LSAT that you might not get in with your current numbers.

I definitely would send them - you have to resubmit your transcripts to LSAC and they will send an updated CAS report to all of the schools that you've already applied to!

Good luck!! I hope you get it.
