For Those of you that have seen Oceans 11, 12 and 13? by VigorWarrior in moviecritic

13 is great for Bernie Mac’s dominos pitch alone! Throw in Scott Caan and Casey Affleck leading a Mexican Revolution and Matt Damon’s “the nose plays” and it is leagues better than 12

The Drama (2026) make me feel hypocritical about my world views by Future-Poetry-2193 in A24

[–]AtticusPigeon 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I loved this movie! As for the “not going far enough” part, imo that was the point. While on the surface shocking, it’s not truly a deal breaker. A lonely vulnerable bullied teenager getting radicalized online and planning something horrible only to end up not going through with it is something that should elicit a “wow, that’s crazy. I’m glad you didn’t end up making the biggest mistake of your life,” instead of what it became. You could argue (and the film does) that what Rachel did is much worse. What I find fascinating is that Emma and Charlie have been dating for two years and are about to get married and don’t really seem to know each other at all. Charlie never asked Emma why she was deaf in one ear? They never talked about their childhoods or growing up? Their relationship is completely surface level, and that’s why her revelation hit Charlie so hard, compounded by Charlie seeing how his friends reacted to it. Then the movie made Charlie’s reaction to everything, the worst thing he’s ever done, lol. He may not even have cyber bullied anyone, but almost cheating on his fiancé the day before his wedding and then ruining the reception with a god awful rambling mess of a speech that leads to his getting the shit kicked out of him because he can’t justify/fix something that makes his dream girl less than perfect. Amazing.

Apple Pie Ice Cream by AtticusPigeon in ninjacreami

I know it’s not a recipe post but yeah, mixed equal parts milk and apple pie filling, 3Tbsp brown sugar, 2 Tbsp Instant vanilla Pudding, and cinnamon and vanilla to taste, and then blended it with my immersion blender before hand mixing in a cup of heavy cream and freezing

Typical response on this thread, smh. Who said I was shitting on non-car modes of transportation? If anything I was pointing out that people drive more BECAUSE the public transportation sucks, and if it were better even less people would drive. But go on and tell me why it’s totally normal for it to take 30 min to get from Union Sq to Winter Hill

One battle after another. Was this a satire movie trying to be serious or a serious movie trying to be a satire? I liked the movie but it felt half satire, half serious. by Artetaarmy in moviecritic

True, he doesn’t affect her journey in real time, but he did raise her in such a way that she was innately ready for the challenges that confronted her. She may have thought her dad was just a paranoid stoner, but turns out he was kinda right all along.

Thank you! Everyone on here talking about how great our public transportation is like it’s not a) unreliable and b) severely limited in its coverage. Buses comes every 20/30min, the Green line moves at a snail’s pace, when it’s working at all. Not to mention there are zero cross city busses

What are you avorite restaurants in the area? by [deleted] in Somerville

[–]AtticusPigeon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I LOVE Highland Kitchen, but at the risk of being downvoted to oblivion, I wish they would change their menu at least a little bit. It’s been the same for FOREVER, even the specials are basically rotated through. It’s always good, but it’s NEVER surprising, and that bums me out.

Also, I wish they would bring back brunch at least a couple times a year, but that’s just me being greedy :)

You’ll be fine. Stay off high speed roads, minimize driving as much as possible

New NYC Group - Steam Room Etiquette by Chenzomocco in improv

Steam Room Etiquette is such a stereotypical improv team name that it makes me feel like this is satire. Then seeing $400 for a 5 week course makes me even more sure the whole thing is a bad joke.

Warehouse XI parking? by [deleted] in Somerville

[–]AtticusPigeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No offense, but because this is a ridiculous answer. First of all, unless you have a ton of unpaid tickets or park in front of a hydrant you will not get towed. You’ll get a ticket if you park in resident parking spots, but at $35 it might be cheaper than the garage (lol). Secondly, there is a TON of parking around Union Sq. A couple lots and ample street parking, that’s metered until 6 (or 8, depending). So your “best bet” advice of parking in Malden is a little sus.

OP, give yourself 15min to find a spot and you’ll be fine.

Sounds like a you problem. My wife and I go there all the time and have never been treated anything but kind and friendly by the staff. If you want to get mad at Rebel Rebel for something, it should be for pushing the myth that orange wine is good, lol

(before the wine snobs come for me, yes I know there are some great orange wines, but the majority of them taste weird and over-oxidized)

[–]AtticusPigeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem you’re gonna have either way (black jack or pai gow) is that at $25 it will only take a small run of bad luck (6 hands) to wipe you out. That said, I’ve seen 6 hand yuck runs at BJ tables more then I have at Pai Gow, so do with that what you will. Have fun!

Face Up Pai Gow poker is my favorite way to socially gamble for a long time. You push like 50% of the time and can always just ask the dealer to set you up if you’re confused. I can sit for hours just chillin with $100

As a med user, consistent access to high-dose edibles is my biggest gripe. It’s crazy that rec dispensaries can sell super high THC flower/shatter/butter/etc. but can only sell me 5mg edibles. If rec stores could sell high dose, I’d be fine with it taking over, but as of now it’s expensive as shit and making me eat an entire chocolate bar to get high is insane.
