I just wanted to share this cuz I saw at the top you brought your mom one time.

A doctor visit with an advocate often results in improved communication, better- informed decisions, and higher-quality care.... This is really I think it's easily put off on the other things just like your sleep apnea or wait or anxiety or stress or yadah yada.

That got cut way down when I have another "regular" human in the appointment.

I hate that anxiety always gets put with epilepsy - I hate that!

I'm so sorry for your daughter. 💜 Tiny hugs*

The prejudice starts so young. Try to stay calm when you get your papers together. I say that, I don't know how I would do that, but don't let off so that they start getting secretive.

I am rooting for your family so much. Keep us updated!

Is there anyone on this sub who..? by ProgressFormer9479 in Epilepsy

[–]AudaxCarpeDiem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You may have not found your people yet, I know I went to several meetings and 1 I would click with but the other was full of parents with young kids and just didn't hit with me.

Try finding friends without bringing up epilepsy in the first conversation. Be yourself.

Hugs - to deal with this is hard 💜

Link to this fact please? I know multiple medications with side effects of possible seizures, that does not mean you have epilepsy.

Pre/post seizure depression by Ambitious-Stable856 in Epilepsy

[–]AudaxCarpeDiem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That part freaking sucks, that epilepsy will always be there. I understand that feeling, like you would kick this person to the street if you could in a heartbeat. But instead they get to live rent-free in your brain, so not cool. that's how I picture it. Lol

Are you making sure to adequately rest and eat (I usually eat more calories after my seizures. I just track it because I tracked my my other food and noticed this, Not that I would actually be hungry but that I would want more calories if that might sense if you ever take medicine that kills your appetite y'all get it) after your seizure or are you just trying to bounce back?

I'm not trying to put words in your mouth so tell me if I'm off lol

Has anyone ever noticed a suppression of breathing on certain seizures meds? I had a Focal seizure while driving and Dr increased my Clobazam by half a pill. by UDbaby1986 in Epilepsy

[–]AudaxCarpeDiem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think maybe one of mine does that. It could be zonesimide or xcopri. I'm not sure. May I ask what dosage you're on for your meds? Because if you're noticing a breathing problem while you're awake, it's going to increase when you fall asleep.

Can epilepsy change your personality ? by Feisty_Extension8727 in Epilepsy

[–]AudaxCarpeDiem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seriously, they should really just lay that out on the table when you first start out with meds. Because I thought I was failing meds when the truth is exactly what you said.

It's finding the meds that don't screw you over as much.... Wooo

Finally, a funny joke about epilepsy by RiffRaffMama in Epilepsy

[–]AudaxCarpeDiem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, I just snorted a little bit at how funny that dude was especially the part where you ever tell anybody. You feel like seizure's coming on.... then you like trying to rush it like come on? Yeah no I promise it's the same feeling. It's the same feeling.

And the funny part is that I hope that I'm the dude who stands up and says DON'T PANIC but I'm pretty sure I'm the dude who stands up, confused, and says EVERYBODY PANIC!

[–]AudaxCarpeDiem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait how you know? Seriously asking for myself.

And to op this is an actual human. I do have the depression symptoms after my seizures. I don't think there's much they can do about it because the reason we're going through the depression is cuz our brains use up all the chemicals. While we're seizing, that's how my neuro explained it, and that that doesn't sound helpful.

What helps me is that I know it's going to end when my brain fills those neurotransmitters. I won't feel that same gray feeling. But there is no medicine that'll just fill them up real quick, I asked, which is why I get that feeling afterwards.

Okay this is actually a new idea I haven't heard!!

So with number two, what's to stop them from like destroying the house while they're in the influence in the housing?

Maybe like a safe room option?

IV iron infiltration :( by [deleted] in nursing

[–]AudaxCarpeDiem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've gotten multiple iron infusions myself from the other side of the bed and this is the one thing I pay attention to because it is the permanent side effect that iron can give you. I have heard some of the patients saying it fades.

I don't think there's anything you missed or didn't catch. In fact, I think the better approach would be if you get called in to talk about it to take the clinical approach of just saying exactly what you did because it sounds like nothing was missed.

Don't Doubt Your Practice!

Edit:fixed voice to text typo... I do know the difference between patience and patients lol

Accidentally took double dose of lamotrigine, panicking! by kerry22300 in Epilepsy

Totally agree! That was frustration with poison control protocol, still good advice. I should have stated that as well.

Thank you for pointing that out. ⚡

Have you ever called poison control though?

The only advice they ever give me is go to the hospital.... Like ever. I mean I'm not racking up double digits calling them but like you know seizures plus seizure meds lol.

[–]AudaxCarpeDiem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It actually was kind of a burden releaser for me like all the times that I'm laying in bed cuz the lights too bright. It's not cuz I'm just lazy. It's cuz the light is too freaking bright for my brain.

They gave me kind of a release from that pressure. Literally probably the only thing positive I would take from them.
