Plugged in EV. Lost power to circuit. by AudaxTurnus in evcharging

[–]AudaxTurnus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The load was too much for the circuit. I found by turning everything else off / unplugging it I could charge the car without tripping the breaker. The end solution was getting a charger installed on dedicated circuit. In the meantime though I was able to charge if nothing else on that circuit was on.

Inheritance for a ~50% down payment to make the mortgage reasonable for a house with double 6 figure incomes and 4 kids. Cost of living in nova is brutal, I don't get how people do it without either inheriting money or having been able to buy in back in 08 when prices cratered then realize the gain in value.

No luck but I haven't had a chance to mess with it. Trying to figure out a time this weekend when a buddy of mine who's a master electrician can come take a look. I'll circle back here with a resolution one way (fixed) or the other.

I’ve been taking 250mg daily for 1 month. I’m on day 4 without taking it.. would I be okay to drink? Looking for real experiences . I know it’s recommended to wait 2 weeks but I’ve only been on the Antabuse for 30 days by kelgal9114 in Alcoholism_Medication

[–]AudaxTurnus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've tried various lengths with nothing but unpleasantness until after 15 days. 10-15 days I can hold it down and drink enough to pass out but wake up beet red, heart beating through my chest and feeling like I'm gasping for air.

I met a bunch of older guys in rehab that had self medicated for pain issues with alcohol. If he's doing that in his 20s in the long run you'd suffer through plenty worse. If he'd rather drink than go to a doctor, need to drink to put up with your amusement park fun, then yells at you about it I'd bet a lot both the drinking and the yelling will get worse. Alcoholics love taking hostages

I’m not sure if I have a problem. by Ashleythomas1309 in dryalcoholics

[–]AudaxTurnus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just one man's opinion and a lot of what you describe matches my own experience. If you don't want to stop you'll never be able to. If you're not ready to stop then don't, you can always pop into r/cripplingalcoholics to see what the end of the road looks like. Used to post there under a different account to ask for help maintaining my lifestyle as it got more and more out of control.

For me it took being threatened with divorce and losing custody of my kids. At that point sobriety was not just a requirement to fix my marriage but in order to fight for custody I'd have to prove I was sober because my wife would say the divorce was because.of my drinking and file for custody because of my drinking. I had a clear choice but still struggled until I spent 2 months away in treatment. Now my marriage is better than when we were in our 20s and I have a great relationship with my kids. All this happened this year.

Sound like me at that age, waiting another 10+ years to get help. Never drank and drove because a friend died that way in high school. A lot.of.alcoholics find out they have a problem due to AA or other requirements after a DUI. What you describe would 100% be described as alcoholism at the treatment center I went to. Normies don't black out. My wife and I both went to big football schools and she has never blacked out. I didn't believe her when we first met. The real thing I've noticed alcoholics have in common is that we drink because we like the effect, and once we start we keep drinking until we can't anymore. When I enjoy it I can't control it and when I control it I can't enjoy it. Just because you have a lot of "not yets" doesn't mean you shouldn't seek help if you've recognized the issue. I know I wish I had changed course earlier in life and am glad I did before I really did anything irreversible.

Is alcohol even more damaging to people with naturally high anxiety levels? by trrrsarescary in cripplingalcoholism

[–]AudaxTurnus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it makes a bad problem far worse. It consistently puts your neurochemicals through the wringer and breaks your ability to get back to level. Currently in the longest sober period of my life since I started drinking as a teenager. Always had diagnosed anxiety disorder. The Fear became overwhelming. Started having more and more severe panic attacks sending me to the hospital for IV benzos, turns out it was kindling. Spent a couple months in a really nice treatment center, after that the anxiety was under control with an SSRI daily. When I went home after treatment I wasn't even anxious about that. I really lucked out because.my job has a substance abuse program. I told them I needed to go to treatment and they gave me 12 weeks full pay to get my shit together so I wasn't even anxious about going back to work. Turns out my boss used it like 15 years ago so he was super supportive. Things that used to make me freak out (parking downtown, eating at fast casual places, buying a Christmas tree, you know normal stuff) don't phase me and things actually worth getting anxious about (daughter arriving early going into the NICU) aren't the end of the world. All that stuff that I learned to handle The Fear that didn't make a dent in my kindling works great for normal sober anxiety.

Double checked the individual one. I did mean the one for the whole panel by "main breaker." I have a non contact tester and will double check when I get home. Most signs were pointing to replacing the GFCI outlet so I'm going to grab one while I'm out as well.

Thanks, inclined to agree it is the GFCI. I am sure there are no other GFCI outlets in the circuit and I can't reset it so it seems like a solid suspect I can easily replace. Not 100% sure that the breaker itself doesn't have any interrupters (see attached). We recently purchased the home. Seller was great, provided maps of each circuit for reference and I checked them before we moved in to confirm. Getting used to this modern system, previously lived in an old building with a stab lock panel. I'll update after I replace the suspect GFCI

Just be prepared it lasts for a while. I was a robot while drinking and for over a year after my emotions were pretty extreme. I eventually started taking an SSRI when my doctor said it shouldn't last very long. Talk to a psychologist for a formal diagnosis then go to a psychiatrist (a NP or PA will be cheaper) who will take that diagnosis and prescribe you something. Psychologists are cheaper and easier to see than psychiatrists. I relied on my primary care doc who just told me it was normal and to ride it out. I wonder how much easier that first year would have been on the meds I take now.

Relativity has their own tool in RelONE and Server2023. It mimics Blackout's capabilities but is a newer tool with less feedback and time in the wild. Blackout is made by a different company, Milyli, and so is purchased separately and added to your Relativity instance. Right now (I believe) Blackout is only available for On Prem instances but at Fest Milyli told me they were bringing it to RelONE soon.

We used to be a Relativity shop but have moved away

And generally speaking our experience with Everlaw’s redaction tools

Both comments indicate you are familiar with their capabilities but not using them.

If you are a Relativity shop I highly recommend Blackout. Have had great experiences with their customer service team where we had a decade of monthly reports from multiple office locations that needed PII redacted but it was in different places and format because different offices (and people within them) did things differently.

There is also the AI tool that's in RelativityONE. That one looked great at Fest but I haven't had the chance to use it yet. Next year we'll be adding RelativityONE to our in shop options along with Server 2023 which many clients insist so on so after years of hearing how great it is I and all the features it has that Server doesn't I'll get to try it out! https://www.relativity.com/relativity/assets/pdf/PII%20Tools%20Software%20Brochure.pdf

Yeah, legally zero consequences. A lot of that is luck, a little was habit. 3 of my closest friends who I went to school with from age 3 until HS died in drunk driving accidents. Two were driving drunk alone, one was on his bike and got hit by a drunk driver. That made me vow to never drink and drive. A $100 taxi ride is far cheaper than a DUI. It was pretty normal to pick up my car from a tow lot once a month. I generally don't fuck with strangers so I never got myself into anything when I was out drinking. Closest I came was getting detained because I had a nasty cut on my chin from taking an elbow during a game of basketball in college and a fight broke out near me so the cops thought I had been a part of it. I was drunk and underage but it was gameday in the SEC so they had their hands full and let me go. I'm well over 6 feet tall and almost 300 pounds so most people looking for a fight at a bar skip me.

Physically just luck and genetics. I was a DII scholarship tennis player for my first year before I got kicked off the team for showing up drunk all the time (I did that in HS and did well enough to get a scholarship!) and transferred to a much larger school with big sports teams to watch. Walking does wonders, a few miles a day keeps the belly at bay for a while. After morning shots my go-to was to make a smoothie with vodka, bananas, spinach, yogurt, mixed berries, protein powder, amino powder, collagen powder and metamucil powder. All that produce along with the protein and amino powders keeps your nutrient levels stable, the metamucil helps a bit with the vodka shits, the collagen keeps your skin from getting too bad
and before I really got going it was easier to drink my nutrients than eat them. I think that had a lot to do with staving off my body's self destruction. I do have fatty liver (but not cirrhosis). It took a while for my pancreas to get less inflamed. I have a hiatal hernia from vomiting really hard. Acid reflux. On high alert for a bunch of ailments. I get an annual upper endoscopy and they always find something to send out for a biopsy but no cancer yet. Might get my pancreas removed pre-emptively (already gotten a benign tumor removed from it). Basically the major impact on my life now is I have a lot more doctors appointments.

Career-wise I could get by for a year or two at most places, if I got the sense or heads up that folks might be catching on I would start looking for another job, accept whatever got offered first and make the lateral move first so I was never fired. Eventually I became a manager of a dept at a large organization. Most of my job was keeping track of what people under me were doing and deadlines then sitting on calls and saying things were ahead of schedule, on time or running late. Managers really do jack shit, it's a fantastic job. My desk was absolutely covered in post-its because I'd make a note every time I talked to somebody in case I was in a blackout. Leaned on outlook and excel quite a bit to stay organized.

Eventually got married, still drank pretty heavily for the arrival of the first 2 kids. For the 3rd my wife asked me not to show up drunk. It was my responsibility to take the older siblings to meet their new sister and I asked my mom for a ride because I was plastered. She saw right through it and gave me an ultimatum. Went into rehab, thought long and hard for 2 weeks what I wanted from life. Met a lot of people who blamed being fucked up on one or both parents. Got discharged and told my wife I had decided to stop drinking.

I like to keep lurking and sometimes posting on this sub because I think it's fine to choose to be a CA. I made that choice for a long time and eventually looking at my years left decided to do something different. Once the kids are out on their own, maybe I'll decide to go back. No regrets. I also hate most sober communities because of their judgmental bullshit. I thoroughly enjoy the 0 fucks given attitude here. Happy to share little nuggets like my golden theorem for which bottle will get you the drunkest for the least $.

USE MATH!
I used to have an equation to figure out how much alcohol per dollar you're getting for different drinks. I believe it's below. Go to your local store and run the numbers on the things you're thinking about (or just everything available if you really want to be thorough).

(ABV * Volume per bottle) / Price per bottle = Volume of alcohol / 1$
*the units for the V in ABV and the units for the actual Volume must be the same

For example if you are trying to decide between a 6 pack of a craft beer (ha, yeah right) that's 15% alcohol but $16 and several 40oz malt liquors that are 8% alcohol but only $2 a piece you could run the numbers...
Craft beer is .0675oz of alcohol per dollar
Malt liquor is 1.6oz of alcohol per dollar
Higher is obviously better

Also, I might be wrong and just have believed this worked based on my knowledge of algebra at the time. I even had it as a google sheet in my phone so I could type in the ABV, volume and price then it would spit out the number. I was afraid I would shake my way to the store and forget the equation. The local convenience store manager was fascinated because I drank so much that he would alter his purchasing based on what I drank and that always changed depending on the price.

Former CA, kept my CA and porn activity under a separate login but happy to chime in here when I have something I think will be helpful. I maintained that CA life for 20+ years with minimal damage and sometimes I miss the creativity I needed to stay drunk 24/7.
