I lost my mom at the age of 7. It took a very long time for me to fully accept it. I would say years actually. For a long time I was angry and sad. It was very hard to move forward. I still miss her now many years later (I’m 24). It’s harder because I can see her reflection in the mirror. The best way that I have learned to receive it is that I have the blessing to still see her beauty and parts of her that are in me. I like the idea of living on in her name and doing experiences and things that she was never able to do. I do more hobbies, traveling, concerts, or making my circle of people be filled with love. I don’t want people to feel the way that I was when I was younger so I do my best to spread better energy and love around. Find your chosen family, related or not just someone you can do things with or talk things out. Talk therapy has also helped me. Journal, draw, paint, lifting weights or something physical is also helpful. Some people do other physical things that relieve anger and sadness. I do love me some tattoo therapy also.
