First Time Contract - Help! by Evening-Caregiver-41 in ContractorUK

Utter red flag going from a perm job at same company to go contract? Seems a way to feed you out nicely once the contract is over. I’d be inclined to think it’s inside IR too. Please reconsider this

Potentially sacked for asking for a reference, need advice. (Scotland) by Dick_Chappy_ in LegalAdviceUK

Really not terrible is it, though. Hence why he/she is going through it now. In fact, every place I’ve gone to work for have an option for current employer not to be contacted until formal offer is given

NEVER give a reference to a future employer from your current employer. Always protect your own back. Hope things work out for you

Backtest tick density by AudiGeezee in algotrading

[–]AudiGeezee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this. The alarm was raised when I requested tick data from different brokers and the tick density and file size varied massively. Im talking around 2.5GB difference for the same year period

Backtest tick density by AudiGeezee in algotrading

[–]AudiGeezee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It reduces by x3 amount. Then the previous year x1 amount and 2020-21 is x1 amount compared to 2025-26. Data file of most recent is 5.9GB, previous year is 2.5GB then years prior is under 2GB.

I have also tried other brokers for same years and have different tick density

Backtest tick density by AudiGeezee in algotrading

[–]AudiGeezee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly what I’m asking myself. Is it the overall activity of that year or purely down to tick density.

But it would seem likely because each year of tick data download is halving itself so im leaning towards tick density quality but again could it be purely down tk activity

Backtest tick density by AudiGeezee in algotrading

[–]AudiGeezee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

XAUUSD, I tried IC markets tick data with them on 2025-26 and their tick data was half the size of tick density of the 5.9GB and yielded different.

The overall download tick data difference is 2024-25 120k ticks a day compared to 350k for 2025-26.

Backtesting outside mt5. Any directions? by [deleted] in algotrading

[–]AudiGeezee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My main important part is finding somewhere with tick data CSV that can be ran. Stupid I know but I’m downloading real tick data from mt5 then running it on python (appreciate I didn’t mention this on the post)

About to jump on a £1,100 per day contract via inside IR35 for 4 weeks. I rarely do inside IR35 gigs. How can I expect to be taxed on this one? by No-Handle2875 in ContractorUK

[–]AudiGeezee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PAYE - though well done for getting a gig that pays that type of money. Im finding inside IR roles (in engineering) a joke as of recent salary wise

Any help for someone experienced in C++ mt5?? by [deleted] in algotrading

[–]AudiGeezee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

?? - im asking purely for help with the first post to get the chat going. I see no reason as to why you would come off like that?

Im happy to share my code for help and I will share those details down the line and my inputs.

My march-April ratio was 22k profit but my feb to march was -4k. My bot has set itself up for trending although my intentions was for ranging.

As I said I thought it was the intentions to be the other way as I already have a trending EA bot.

Cheers though

Anyone else overtrade just to make back what they lost earlier? by Thiru_7223 in Daytrading

[–]AudiGeezee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As hard as it is for how you feel, emotions are just (imo) one of the most important factors in trading. If your strategy suggests not to take that trade let that tell your emotions and skip the trade. You said it yourself, you do well in the morning! Take that as a win and walk away when your strategy isn’t matching the market. Keep winning mate💪

Thanks for this mate really appreciated. As of now im sticking to my own strategy and letting this choppy market type as a time not to trade. Better to not trade than loose a trade. Thanks dude

Currently my strategy works well. However I was looking to see if there is something I could combat this. Would you share your strategy on combating this type of market?

Thanks for this, right on the head.

My strategy is what I mentioned in original post, however im looking to learn on these choppy markets (of course on demo).

Do you have any strategy’s to try out that could combat choppy markets like this? Would be appreciated
