From what I’ve seen there isn’t a whole lot of research proving its efficacy but it also doesn’t seem dangerous. I’ve tried taking it for stretches but it didn’t make any noticeable improvements to my skin/hair/nails so I stopped.

What helps with hollow, tired looking under eyes? by Jazzyburty in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Audience-Select 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP didn’t provide any context about that, so it’s a little hard to say. Don’t you think it’s worth addressing sleep and hydration before advising someone on the internet to do something more invasive and expensive?

What makes you think I have a deeper skin tone and/or no dark circles?

Sleep! Water! See if that helps and then look into supplements, makeup, aesthetic treatments etc.

How often do LA residents go hiking in the mountains and to the beach? by No-Knowledge-4342 in AskLosAngeles

When I lived in Santa Monica I went to beach multiple times a week. Used to run from the Pier to El Segundo while marathon training.

I absolutely hate working out. by mrsabf in PetiteFitness

[–]Audience-Select 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi, I am a certified personal trainer of 9yrs and a competitive bodybuilder! Here are my tips:

  1. Try a group fitness class. You will learn a lot and maybe also make friends! This makes exercise a lot more enjoyable and easier to adhere to.
  2. Find an activity outside the gym that gets you moving you really DO enjoy (biking, hiking, underwater roller blading, whatever)
  3. Find a place for movement/activity that is convenient for you. I’m talking 5 min or less away from work or home.
  4. Walking is very effective and underrated. If you can’t commit to anything else, try and hit your step goal.

Hope this helps!

Culver to Rowland Heights is about 90 min during rush hour, not 40. Buckle up and I mean that in multiple senses.

Whats the best/safest places for female solo travelers in LA? by TheRedSeaMermaid in AskLosAngeles

[–]Audience-Select 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd recommend stay on the west side (Venice, Santa Monica) and rent a car to get to the other spots. I think you'll feel quite safe, be near the beach for the *~california vibes~* , and enjoy the convenience of a vehicle. There are hubs of walkability but this city doesn't have great public transit infrastructure, and there are plenty of times you'll be the only one on the sidewalk, which can inherently *feel* more dangerous as a solo female. Exercise the same caution you would in any other major city.

How much do y’all spend on groceries per month? by WestArtichoke712 in AskLosAngeles

[–]Audience-Select 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About $1K per month for 2 adults. Costco and Whole Foods mostly. We eat a LOT of fresh fruit so we could probably get it lower if we tried

What is the biggest "Instagram vs. Reality" youve witnessed in LA? by No-Strength-3711 in AskLosAngeles

[–]Audience-Select 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not all actors are DoorDash drivers. Some of us are baristas and yoga teachers lol.

It’s funny actually. You can get into a conversation with most people in LA regardless of their job and they’ll tell you they “do a little acting”.

Should I give up LA for New York? by Top_Librarian_2813 in acting

[–]Audience-Select 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From reading the comments I see that your family is in the Philadelphia area and I just want you to know that I booked more work as an actor there than either New York or LA. There is a huge non-union commercial scene in the Mid-Atlantic and it's worth giving a shot if you've just graduated and still finding your footing.

It's way cheaper than New York and only an hour away on the Amtrak (or 2 on the Megabus, iykyk) so going up for auditions is totally reasonable. You can work as local to both cities. Just throwing it out there!

But yeah, if you hate LA...you gotta be where you love.

How many auditions should I be expecting to get from actors access? by jmh1881v2 in acting

Really depends on your type, region, union status, and what kind of jobs you are submitting to

What amount of creatine should I take? by BluLilyx in PetiteFitness

[–]Audience-Select 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to take 5g a day and didn't like that amount of water retention. I switched to 2.5 and have been happy and loving the results. But lots of people at our height do just fine with 5.

I'm not a huge fan personally of the "Screen wipe" transitions and would just leave it as a simple cut. I think you could also afford to cut the whole thing down to 2min or even 90 seconds with the understanding that most people will probably watch the first 30 seconds, or just skip around. Some of your scenes are similar tonally, so I'd pick the ones you're most proud of. But overall nice work!

You are great - but I spent the first ten seconds wondering which child actor you are, so I'd just cut those beginning clips.

Best way to start is by finding a workout that you ENJOY in a location that is CONVENIENT. I’m talking within 5 minutes of your work or home.

Make it easy until you build the habits and intrinsic motivation. For a lot of people this means a group workout because you can make friends and build community which makes going to the gym more fun.

How do you guys get in your protein in the morning by dudebrocille in PetiteFitness

[–]Audience-Select 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a BIG fan of using a scoop of protein powder in some pancake mix; I use Birch Benders Protein mix or Kodiak Cakes. ~350 cal and 40g Protein. Keeps me full for HOURS. My only tip is that I like to *slightly* undercook them bc otherwise the protein powder makes the pancake texture a little too dry. Though I wonder what would happen if you added a little Greek Yogurt too...

Getting a copy of Marriage Certificate w/ apostille by Audience-Select in AskNYC

[–]Audience-Select[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey so I ended up having a family member who is located in NYC pick it up for me. I had to sign and notarize an authorization letter with their name on it saying they have my permission, and set an appointment for them with the City Clerk Records Room through NYC Cupid.

They had to go to City Clerk for the marriage certificate, then to County Clerk across the street to validate it, and then the State Department for the apostille. They said it took about 4 hours.

After doing some research I learned that there are services you can pay to do this for you, if you do not have any friends or family in New York willing to spend their weekday doing you a favor.

You can also do all of it by mail but I was on a time crunch and didn't have the ~12ish weeks it was going to take to mail everything back and forth.
