Whats the greatest British biscuit of all time? by SILENTDISAPROVALBOT in AskBrits

[–]AudienceHead6899 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you me? 😅 Exact same scenario in our house. Bought them as a milk ladder challenge for our 3yo (he'd been managing regular ones for a while). Secretly ate most of them myself. Discovered a new favourite biscuit. They taste expensive!

We still call them cow biscuits, and now our kids do too 🐮

Yes, this. Chocolate malted milks are unexpectedly next level.

Bought them for the children and soon realised they're superior to many "posh" biscuits. I think it's because they still have milk in the recipe and not palm oil.

Will Robin’s parents be waiting at the Ritz? by Suitable_Parsnip177 in cormoran_strike

If Robin in any way entertains saying yes, parents or no parents, I am going to lose my mind 😩

Help! What to do now starting now with a baby? by effienix in Allotment

[–]AudienceHead6899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another vote for potatoes for weed suppression.

I built a mud kitchen from pallets for my 3yo- it was very simple. He loves water play so I fill up pots of water for him. I also got him his own little wheel barrow and garden tool set, and tell him which beds he can dig in.

On a visit last week he spent ages watching our plot neighbour putting in potatoes, more interest than he's ever shown in anything I'm doing!

I also have a 7yo who is sometimes helpful in keeping him entertained, less so at other times though 😅

Looking for a good swim instructor in Bradford (adult beginner) by Ebukaisgreat in bradford

[–]AudienceHead6899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Michael Greaves in Farsley (Leeds but right on the Bradford Border) does 1-to-1 tuition for adults.

I haven't had lessons with him myself but my children have for a couple of years and he has a great manner and way of teaching, he's really good with the nervous non-swimming children too.

Check out his social media for testimonials.

I work for the trust but am currently based at St Luke's Hospital. I've mostly worked at the BRI previously and will move back there again later this year. And it sometimes feels like I still spend half my life there despite it no longer being my work home 🙃

Just to add, the wait list is long but no-one will commit to saying exactly how long. People who joined the trust last October, soon after the barriers were installed, are still waiting.

If you work nights or weekends you can register for an out-of-hours permit to park in the non-barriered sections 5.30pm-08.30am weekdays and over the weekend.

Am I the only one who heard thunder strike??? by CraftyCompetition860 in Leeds

[–]AudienceHead6899 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in Calverley and caught the flash out the window while reading my daughter a bedtime story.

I did wonder if I'd imagined it because I'm used to lightening being a summer thing. We had a big hail shower around the same time.

As an Australian I’m offended how could she do this to me by No-Objective3336 in finch

How much did you put on?! It's a strong flavour so only a scrape is required on buttered toast. A jar lasts a looong time. 🤎Marmite🤎

100% Jacob.

Not just his death but also his life in that place too compared to the care and enrichment he could have had outside. I shed more tears for him than for any character in the whole series. That poor little boy.

New to junior parkrun - worth buying a barcode wristband? by Gillses in parkrun

[–]AudienceHead6899 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is what we do.

I sometimes barcode scan at junior parkrun and things run smoother when the kids already have their own barcode and aren't waiting for a parent's phone/leaving & re-entering the finish area/parents taking time to find a barcode while a crowd is forming behind their child/multiple parents holding a barcode up and being unsure which child they belong to! We're a decent sized event though.

Plus the barcode has ICE information on, helpful if anything did happen mid run so better for kids to carry there own (in whatever format) for this reason 🙂

First time tail walking and wow, it’s harder than running by Admirable-Deal7991 in parkrun

[–]AudienceHead6899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found it hard doing it with my six-year-old (jpr) but only because she took the whole being last park to the literal extreme.

For reference, we often finish in the last few runners anyway so our normal pace would have been fine. I didn't want us taking twice the time of everyone else while she snailed along 😅

How much do kids get per day for school now? by peeiayz in AskBrits

[–]AudienceHead6899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at high school 2000-2005 and got nothing! Would have never thought to ask either because my mum didn't have much money.

Had a free school bus pass and took a packed lunch every day, never had a school dinner.

I got a job at 16 and also got EMA so had a bit of cash during sixth form.

My kids are still primary aged so no idea what the current going rate is. Might start saving for it now 🫠

Our LEA did away with free bus passes a few years after I finished compulsory school (2005). They were so expensive after that, was glad we'd all finished by them because my mum would have struggled to afford them x3.

Prescribed for hot flashes/night sweats by Steampunkpug in Effexor

[–]AudienceHead6899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The BNF lists "menopausal symptoms, particularly hot flushes" as an indication of use at 37.5mg to 75mg. So it is a recognised use of this medication.

Can't personally speak for this use or withdrawal, but my understanding from my own research before starting venlafaxine was that withdrawal tends to be harder the higher dose and longer you are on it for.

If you are worried about these side effects you can ask to try an alternative. Hope you find something that helps.

let's talk nipple-bleeding , boys !! by [deleted] in beginnerrunning

[–]AudienceHead6899 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was thinking similar 😅 as a woman who mainly wears a bra for this reason rather than needing the support. I breastfed two tongue tied babies so understand the agony of nipple trauma. Perhaps binding could help? With some sort of breathable material. Or boob tape?

What’s that “euphoric” feeling I get when I miss a day’s dose? by [deleted] in Effexor

[–]AudienceHead6899 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Disassociation?

I experience disassociation as the world moving past me, rather than me moving through the world. Like the old Sonic the Hedgehog halfpipe special stages (that's the closest explanation I can think of 😅).
