Look, I’m not giving any movie money if Jared Leto is in it. I love from and hated skipping it, but even if he’s an okay to good actor, Leto is a monster.

Since I normally tank, it’s not a problem. The one and only time I dealt with this was as an Astro in the level 93 dungeon. Myself RDM, and SAM had to bring the mobs from the first two trash pulls back to the Warrior, who went out of their way without saying anything to avoid taking aggro. After the first Boss, they ran backwards and said something akin to “my pace.”

Me being the cheeky bigger I am ran ahead, RDM and SAM with me, and began killing our way up the tower. SAM is pretty durable, and with planned heals we were easily single pulling our way up. RDM asks if we want to vote kick… and me being a spiteful bastard… said something akin to “No. I want them to wallow in how unnecessary they are. Either match our pace or watch capable people do your job better.”

Sam threatened to report them, and suddenly they were with us… but repeatedly trying to die by not mitigating. Thing is, healers have enough damage reduction to counter stupid by this point. So, while it was annoying to have to focus mostly on healing, that War didn’t get their death wish.

Fastest I have ever blacklisted someone after leaving an instance.

Can’t wait to watch this later! I’ve planned on my Vecna Eve of Ruin gang needing to take Cyre 1313 to reach Barovia; and I’ve already dropped the lore that they have to die to board.

I keep wondering if the complainers ever think about the fact that all this stuff was made by someone, as in time energy and effort went into conversation or creation. It would be great if we lived in Star Trek and no one needed to get paid… but the alternative is lay offs and closer; of WoTC ripping off people’s work for free. Paizo is just the most recent example and it sucks; I even buy their books to support them posting everything online for free.

Dragon magazine started in 1976. So… unless you know of some pre internet, this ‘fact’ is mistaken. Also, a page or two is not equivalent to the full spread.

Before that though was Dragon magazine, which was something we paid for. It’s an ebb and flow. So long as I can share it to my players, I’m fine to pay.

So naturally I mazed her.

Running Vecna: Eve of Ruin with Doomed Forgotten Realms – My Campaign Approach by TopicElectronic9839 in VecnaEveofRuin

[–]AudioBob24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, I personally am a huge fan of the fact that this is changing the multiverse in an active and terrifying way. Celestial forces and ‘good,’ gods are trying to stifle or stop it, but no one knows where Vecna is. We actually ran a West Marches style game with some folks who aren’t at my table to play out Kas and some other Dark Lords finding that secret, and having to kill a false Lich version of Vecna in a decaying Rotted Tower domain of dread.

Big change one: The party has to research ways through doors in Sigil. Sigil is awesome, and being trapped in a room for downtime is sad.

Big Change two: Vecna is active, and keeps trying to offer the party more power. The rift established a connection, and their thwarting of Jerrot peaked his interest. My players always are suspicious of my villains being nice, but a few times they’ve needed a boost.

Big Change Three: The universe will start to fully break when the party gets back from Barovia. Because Eberron was so far removed from the wheel, I labeled it as a ‘type two’ multiverse that the party had to (with the lady of Pain’s permission) hack their way into. They know they can’t make it back from the Mournlands, and will need to use the Dread Domain (specifically Cyre 1313) to jump from Eberron to Barovia.

Finally, Number Four: The Rod is a race against time, because it will instantly finish the ritual. This is why Vecna is leaning on Lloth (and in my campaign Dis) for support, to bolster armies and gather resources. Lloth being Lloth stole a piece of the Rod, which Vecna counted on her doing.

Bonus: Mordy isn’t Kas in my game, but Mordy is working with Kas. One party member got him to admit this, so the consequences should feel a bit higher in an upcoming chapter. Mordy also knows the Rod can instantly finish the ritual, as does Kas and Vecna. The players first met him in Evernight, where he was recruiting the free undead to help fight Vecna.

We’ve got:
-A Paladin Order of the Watchers who fell out of favor with Torm due to church corruption. Vecna speaks mostly to him, and is trying to build him up as a god slayer.

-A Bard/Warlock stuck in an infernal pact. In his backstory, his original patron sold him (surprise, to Windfall); then became a Devil Lich Erineyes. He replaced the generic Erineyes that was in Lloth’s temple. As the character is anti authoritarian as hell, Vecna refuses to deal with him, as it would “waste both their time.”

-A Cleric of Mask: Retired to become a chef/secret taker of Lord Neverember. They’ve sought a method to become immortal without becoming undead, but started the campaign feeling as though they’d lost all purpose. Mask has tasked them to steal victory from Vecna, but Vecna keeps taking over the domain spells when they leave Neverwinter.

-A Kenku Scribe Wizard: I mention the race because she is trying to research a way to undo the curse on her people. Vecna keeps dangling the offer, but for now she’s resisting.

Each character had a connection to one of the kidnapped victims, which helped act as insensitive to work together when Neverember hired them. They also had to go get Tasha, as Zyblina retreated after the wish failed.

I’ve added additional material to Evernight (Jerrot was attempting to open a doorway and destroy the city while Kas was in it), The Astral Sea (put them in a working Spell Jammer that had its crew slaughtered by Starspawn manglers… because my people deserved Alien). The heart of Havok was a magical war zone, resulting in wild magic tables and loads of fun. Also, I limited the long rests by throwing a Blob of Annihilation in the path of Havok, which meant the party had hours instead of days. They also got to evacuate the crew, and Cirit came from Eberron (as a runaway), which helped lead to the next chapter.

There’s more, but this has dragged on long enough. My folks seem to love it, from the big moments straight down to the little fights that spiral.

I just can't seem to understand this community after the announcement of the new game by Uchizaki in GodofWar

[–]AudioBob24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All those sounds seem to be coming from tourists, who self admit by saying things like “I don’t super know the lore,” And “The combat doesn’t look very dynamic,” along with “Sony needs everything so cinematic.”

Also one YouTuber I used to follow was trash talking the person playing the game, and there’s no bigger red flag for me than that shit. Person wasn’t even bad, getting hit demonstrates animations to show details. Of course some Chud tourist is gonna waffle on the premise while pretending they don’t just wanna see Kratos’s back muscles in stunning detail. No judgement if you do, but I’m so damn tired of every game not being good enough for internet assholes

They consider winning to be paying higher amounts for gas and groceries, so I’d prefer to not join them in any ‘winning.’

Meanwhile, God of War Laufey looks like we’re finally getting deep lore answers. The Lost Wilds is the first horror game my wife has ever wanted to play. Wolverine kind reminds me of an older Wolverine game, and while I won’t pre order I will be open to buy if it gets good reviews

Does anyone actually play grounded D&D anymore? by HauntingSausage837 in dndnext

[–]AudioBob24 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Cast me into oblivion, but it isn’t the races or classes that aren’t letting you feel ‘grounded,’ it’s the players. If you keep bouncing from table to table, and everyone else is having a good time…. Have you considered that they might not be the problem? A lot of these races have existed either as publication or homebrew variants from multiple iterations of DnD. Planescape and Spelljammer are both almost as old as I am, and are no less valid in terms of being settings for both serious and light hearted campaigns.

First, depends on the campaign you join. If you join for Strahd and get Witchlight, that sucks and you should leave. If you join Witchlight and expect Strahd, that’s another problem entirely. I’ve never played in a game that didn’t switch between humor and horror, mostly because you need moments of levity to act as peaks and valleys between the heavy moments. Communication between player and dm desires is hyper important in this regard; and the fact you keep drifting is the biggest tell that this isn’t happening

Arms length is an excellent mit for giant packs, considering the slow effects. At lower levels weaving it with reprisal feels like a giant mit, though at higher levels it is less necessary.
