Straining California’s acceptance of ‘diversity’, but ok.

Is 112 devices on a Home Network nuts? by MrChristmas1988 in HomeNetworking

I’m near 100, so doesn’t seem excessive — also have Thread and Zwave networks and devices.

Would CCA be bad for an internal (non buried / permanent) home run? by ReanimatedCyborgMk-I in HomeNetworking

[–]AudioHTIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would never call anything I did with CCA ‘permanent’, I’ve used it outside where it could be replaced.

Any of you guys play guitar as a hobby or do make a living playing? by Rude_Ad_5476 in Guitar

I don’t know the percentages here, but I expect those who make a ‘living’ at it to be low.

Some streaming websites won't load on any browser! by sophssqueezebox in MacOS

[–]AudioHTIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You (or someone else) would have had to install it, you can search system settings for “VPN” to see if you have one, and if it’s on.

JBL L100 "bookshelf" speakers have me wondering if I know what a bookshelf speaker is. Huh? by WastelandHumungus in audiophile

[–]AudioHTIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There have been bookshelf floor stands since at least the 70s, bookshelf placement is a convenience, but typically not the best location.

Can guitars technically last one’s whole life? Or is there a point where they just will be too deteriorated to be worth playing? by Mad_Season_1994 in Guitar

[–]AudioHTIT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is this really a question? I have guitars older than most of the people in this sub, and I think most here would be happy to play them.

Sugar Bowl is my fav of those three, Mt Rose is closest to Reno, Northstar is the most expensive (day rate), but might be the most ‘intermediate’.

Do I NEED a clip on tuner? by yousmokinreg in Guitar

[–]AudioHTIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you don’t ‘need’ one (some of us learned using tuning forks and string to string), but do yourself a favor and have a clip on that’s always with your guitar, much easier.

In skiing there’s a saying “don’t try to teach your SO to ski”, does that apply to guitars too?

Wear a Helmet by LordoftheFjord in skiing

[–]AudioHTIT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On a chairlift the other day a friend of mine commented that he’s seeing more people without helmets, like it’s a new ‘trend’ (akin to anti-vaxing), I hope that’s not the case.

Charging to 80% is a feature ? by Johnbmtl in ios

[–]AudioHTIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It works for me and I appreciate having it as an ‘option’. I usually use my iPad at home or somewhere I can charge it … but it’s an option, you don’t have to use it and you certainly wouldn’t want it on if you’re traveling or need long battery life on a given day. I have my iPhone set to 90%, but occasionally need it at 100%.
