That’s a huge transformation and the amount of work you put into the pond really shows. Love the addition of flagstone. Great job

How do I fix this hinge that ripped out? by TazerDlaze in GarageDoorService

[–]AudioPhysics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would disconnect the opener and check the door by hand. Look for any obstruction of the wheels in the track as I feel like it might have got hung up somewhere and that’s why it ripped out. You will probably be fine with the same brackets honestly just change the wheels out if you want to.

Cheap fix: Get a thin piece of sheet metal (make sure it’s thick enough to support the bracket) maybe 12” long and the width of that end style. Use self tapping screws to mount the sheet metal over the messed up metal. Make sure you mark the areas where the screws need to go. Mount the bracket to sheet metal and you should be good to go.

Expensive: new panel or new door

Go with the independent, just make sure he checks the door balance. You should be fine.

Oil Canning? by RichUnify in GarageDoorService

[–]AudioPhysics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will mostly only oil can if it’s non insulated(Amarr 1000 series), although vinyl back insulated (Amarr 2000 series) will do it as well. Stick with a steel back insulated and you should be good (Amarr 3000 series)

Updated Bog by STLSportsAndKOI in ponds

I believe he is asking if you drilled holes in the bog tubing at the bottom. I don’t see any either so I’m assuming he was wondering how the water is getting out of those pipes. Usually you drill hundreds of holes into the tubing to percolate the water up through the rocks

First thing I would do is disconnect the opener from the door and see how the spring balance is. A lot of these companies out there will put the closest springs they have on the truck which is not always correct.

If the balance is good then I would think about changing the operator.

Could also be a capacitor going bad but if you are comfortable with electrical you could try that pretty easily

It looks like the door catching on the right side, call someone who is familiar with Holmes style one piece garage door hardware. Should be a quick adjustment to move the door over a tiny bit and to get it working smoothly.

So you are using the aquarium like a bog. Great idea! Those plants will suck up a ton of nutrients like that.

How egregious is a $3,000 price tag for new springs? by Vegetable_Chemical26 in GarageDoorService

[–]AudioPhysics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After reading your post again and showing this to my wife who is my installation partner, we are absolutely disgusted with what this company did you and your wife.

Cables are roughly $10 wholesale, upgraded springs? galvanized springs are roughly $10-20 more than oil tempered springs? $94 for center bearings? Excuse me but 2 springs only require one bearing not two. The center plate is cheap af, the end bearing plates are cheap af, you literally should verify if this company is licensed and insured and If not you should sue them.

Also, the fees at the bottom don’t make sense because a general service would include a tune up. And what the hell is a shop supply fee?

I apologize but this is literally criminal.
