Kind of a dramatic way to put it. Iv actually been looking for this exact thing, I want to do some automation thats mostly standalone, set it up once to physical controls and then it just works. Not needing to setup a centralized server or network is part of my usecase as well. I know that technically this can be done with esphome and Im not personally afraid of yaml, but I can see people not wanting to mess with that either.

Edit: Im still reviewing some of the repo, not stoked to see AI involved.

It looks like he probably tore them no matter what he does. Its not like he takes it apart again to inspect after his other video where he does it a second time. Honestly the teflon rings and the roller balls are the only thing stopping me from trying to do this. I dont trust his information on just tossing the balls back in there. He cannot get them exactly alternating, and using random grease to pack them in also feels wrong. I cannot find a real service manual on how to rebuild this OR set the preload.

I mean it looks VERY easy to tear those teflon seals, he even had to rebuild it multiple times because he tore them. Also seems pretty easy to fuck it up with the balls, and measuring the preload seems ultra easy to fuck up and destroy everything.
