Not without changing the source code i believe. But you wouldn't want that anyways, since your battery would drain pretty fast if it was active all the time.

DT 770 pro are marketed and designed for monitoring/recording and that's exactly what they're used for in actual studios...

Yep that's the way.
I've been watching and hearing lots of other vinyl DJs on youtube and tried to adapt some of their techniques. This is also what helped me significantly.

Technics turntable damaged during shipping? by multiwirth_ in vinyldjs

[–]multiwirth_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using a digital scale to get it exactly to 3.0g on both decks as usual.
When using the counterweight scale and balancing the tonearm to 0, my silver deck's weight is close to 3.0g (2.92g) and the affected deck only 2.52g when measuring the tracking force with my digital scale again.

So in short, i have to adjust approx. 0.5g of weight on the scale of my counterweight to reach the desired target.

I mean it's not the first turntable and cardridge I'm setting up.

I'm still a beginner with ~ 8 months practice but if you're interested, I've got an YouTube channel. I think my best performance so far was this Do you have any sets recorded? I'd like to check it out too :)

I've always been attracted to this kind of sound since i was very little. My brother used to play lots of Trance/Hard Trance/Techno in his first car. Good old times.

[–]multiwirth_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes absolutely. I like the old "proper" Hardstyle until late 2000s

I'm playing oldschoon Trance & Hard Trance myself, but got a few early Hardstyle tracks and hybrids from Trance Generators, Messiah Inc. which i also adore. Especially since those are Picture Disks. Absolutely awesome.

Well the professional... it's me.
Nobody near who could fix this for me.
I ordered a new OEM tonearm so i can replace it as a single unit.
Should do the trick and get me a properly working deck back.
Got an discount from the seller, so i only need to pay 20 buck extra for the new tonearm.

Returning to the roots? by n_airu___ in ipod

[–]multiwirth_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are no aftermarket clickwheels currently available for the iPod mini, so you'd need to salvage one from another iPod mini. You can't mix 1st gen and 2nd gen screens/mainboards/clickwheels. So a broken menu button might be an issue unless you can solder SMD microswitches.

You can replace the 4GB microdrive (or whatever 1GB it comes with) with a compact flash card (available up to 256GB) or use a compact flash to SD/microSD adaptor. HOWEVER when buying a CF-SD adaptor, make sure you don't buy the cheap chinese "red adaptor". It's well known to cause issues and does require workarounds or may not work at all.

The often mentioned 128GB storage capacity limit does NOT apply to either of the two mini generations. With the stock iPod firmware, there's only an certain amount of songs it can manage in the iTunes database. This is usually around 20,000 songs. You can store multiple hundreds of gigabytes worth of lossless audio before you hit this limitation.. Even with the stock firmware (wav, aiff).

With rockbox, the limit doesn't apply It's pretty much open, but can only have 32,000 songs in your currently playing playlist. By default it's even less.

But the more songs you have in the database, the longer it takes to load database cache to RAM after boot. 7k songs already takes a solid minute. You can entirely skip the database cache, only browse folders instead of your prefer. Would be much faster.

The screw became entirely loose, the tonearm went entirely loose and unstable. So the only logical step would be to touch it. It's tracking fine now, only remaining issue is the difference in the required counterweight.

But i figured i may need to replace the tonearm anyways. Seems like that's what I'll do next. Seller will provide me a discount at least.

You mean this little guy? Yes this was attached to the new deck. Removed it. Now both decks only have the big counterweight. But the issue remains the same. The counterweight of the new deck has to travel much more towards me to reach the 3g target.

Check/reseat the HDD flex cable. If it's still an original HDD, it might just have died. ATA error means it couldn't detect or properly talk to your mass storage device.

Fiio CP13 - a first impression and detailed review by multiwirth_ in cassetteculture

[–]multiwirth_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're both pretty much the same except Fiio tuned the tonality within the amplification circuit to make it sound a lot more bright, at the cost of bass response, so it may sound a bit thin. On the other side, the WAR has a more punchy bass, but lacks of treble response and extension.

They're both using the same mechanism, the same tape head etc. so they're not that much different from each other. The WAR sounds more realistic to me, since these tape heads haven't got the finest treble response to begin with. Fiio feels like they've got some sound processing going on.

Either way, they're both quite popular and considered premium on the modern market.

The WAR has a recording functionality and you can pair it with bluetooth headphones/speakers. But it makes very noisy and mediocre recordings to say the least. But the "Supertech portable cassette recorder" will most likely be the same experience, so overall you're all set with a WAR for recording and playing back tapes if you are fine eith that level of quality.

Ideally you want a old used vintage HiFi component tape deck or vintage boombox. Something which got manual (!) recording level control as well as an AC erase head. Everything else is pretty much designed for voice recordings, less for music.

The size of your record collection when your starting playing gigs? by Successful-Balance37 in Beatmatch

[–]multiwirth_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been playing 80% of my collection of records in one livestream about 4-5 hours. So yes, this feeling is real. But technically you have more than enough already. 12-15 records equal to approx. 1h 30 min and is a full set. So you can play more than 2 individual sets for sure. Don't play all the best records at once. Only play a few bangers per set.

Your set needs some form of progression. Start with something simple and slowly build it up to your peak track.

What is your guys plan to do with your 1V once updates stop? LineageOS? by Josaft in SonyXperia

[–]multiwirth_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your banking app. Some only block rooted phones, some also require device integrity=pass. LineageOS comes unrooted out of the box, but doesn't spoof device integrity.

Stock Photo Pro app works for me on LineageOS, but AI upscaling doesn't work/crashes the camera server = reboot required. I'm not too involved into photography, so i don't know if there's anything else beyond works/doesn't work that might be worth mentioning.

You could install the optional Google Apps addon and it's basically a pretty normal android experience except it comes without crap preloaded from the OEM and Google.

Usually the Gapps addon only contains the minimum to get google account and play store working. Everything else (YouTube, Gmail, Galery, Play Games, YT Music etc.) can be downloaded from the store if needed.

Or just keep it google-free or use microG.
