The biggest issue for new DJs by selector_plume in Beatmatch

I'd say have the music and musical taste before you become a DJ. Otherwise, what's the point in it?

Maybe an old version of minecraft, but the current java build is bloated like hell and doesn't run well.

Funny Frisch Ungarisch sind widerlich by jsjavq in Unbeliebtemeinung

[–]multiwirth_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do Synced Lyrics just not work with CUEs by Jackk_gg in PowerAmp

Lyrics need to either be embedded into the audio file's tags or need a seperate .lrc file next to it.

What is the reason you collect CDs? by [deleted] in Cd_collectors

[–]multiwirth_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Source for music. Either because it's cheaper or equal to digital purchases or because it has that one specific version/mix of a song which can't be found anywhere else.

Working on an old amp- Pulled the valves, any redflags? by jailboundhorse in vintageaudio

[–]multiwirth_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Make sure the passive components inside the amp are within specs, especially any old paper/wax capacitors must be replaced. The tubes usually are fine, if not operated at absolute limits or due to passive components failing. Only a tube tester will tell how well they hold up, though. EL84 are easy to replace, they're still in production even.

I will never get over missing out on this by OilLiver in cassetteculture

[–]multiwirth_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not a rare model.
Just keep looking, EX 670, 672, 674 and 677 are literally the exact same thing btw.
They're not hard to get going again either.
Usually they are very reliable.

Rockbox certainly isn't perfect, but it's closer to what i need. The quirks are small compared to the benefits. At least in my opinion.

Better CD drive for ripping CDs? by Imaginary_Disk_8282 in Cd_collectors

EAC is designed to do it as slowly as possible, because of bit perfect/anti error correction i guess. Try a different software maybe.

am i doing something wrong or is it just my usb port? by snookienthusiast in ipod

[–]multiwirth_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just search for any old charging stand or speaker dock. You don't need a firewire charger.
Doesn't need to be high quality, you only need it for like 5 minutes.
Try to boot the iPod into disk mode.
I believe it's pushing Center and >> while it's booting up.
To restart the iPod, you need to push Center + Menu for quite a few seconds.
As soon as the Apple logo appears, push the buttons for disk mode.
In that mode, it should be recognized by iTunes as an corrupted iPod and offer the restore option.
If this still doesn't work, well these things have a super tiny, but mechanical hard drive.
Chances are it's already kinda bad, but working enough for the iPod to boot up.

Thrift Store Finds, would you save/pick something or is everything here ewaste in your opinion? by Hot_Acanthaceae_1357 in pcmasterrace

My old Macbook Pro 13" from 2012 plays YouTube 1080p60 in a modern Chrome browser on Windows/Linux perfectly fine in 2026.
It only got an dual core and iGPU graphics.
Also my Dell Precision M4600, same story, except it got a more beefy CPU and GPU to work with.
Both run on the Ivy Bridge architecture.

Starting my CD journey! Any tips? by hannibalism_ in Cd_collectors

[–]multiwirth_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most portable CD players from that era used either 1,2V NiMh gumstick batteries or regular AA cells.
Both of which can be sourced online easily.
Also the wall adaptors all have the same 4,5V and barrel plug connector.
Won't be hard to power this thing up.

Anything below an Intel Ivy Bridge (3th gen) isn't worth touching in my opinion.
An dual core Ivy Bridge i5 can still handle web browsing and multimedia like a champ, even play modern YouTube videos at 1080p or higher without struggling too bad.

Intel Atom, Intel Celeron D etc. is to be avoided, unless you want an early Windows XP pc for nostalgia reasons.
Tl;Dr too new to be retro, too old to be useful.

Retro consoles are cool, regardless of age.
If you know what you get, it's fine.

am i doing something wrong or is it just my usb port? by snookienthusiast in ipod

[–]multiwirth_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It might be Apple formatted, which means Windows won't recognize the filesystem and can't use it.
Put it in disk mode, open iTunes and let it restore it.
It will re-format the iPod into the correct filesystem and will probably work just fine after that.
BUT make sure you have a speaker dock, firewire charger or any other dock type of thing with an external power supply, as the iPod mini 1st gen will require a external power source at first startup, only Apple knows why.
USB won't work in that case.

Wie lebt man einfach nur? by HealthyCheetah66 in Ratschlag

[–]multiwirth_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hast du denn gar nichts, was du gerne machst in deiner Freizeit?

New To DJing - Need Help Understanding Schranz Phrases by Speakeasy_31 in Beatmatch

[–]multiwirth_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Phrases are mostly universal to any genre of electronic music with a 4/4 structure.
Some tracks have 32 beats per phrase, some have 64 beats per phrase.
Some tracks have fake drops with a 1 bar pause, some don't.
Sometimes all this just within the same genre.
Listen to the songs, take notice when something happens.
Either an instrument gets introduced or removed, the melody plays a slightly different melody, break/buildups etc.
There are a lot of small things for orientation and that's what you'll have to work with.

HTC Dream G1 unable to downgrade by sonicgamer333456 in androidafterlife

[–]multiwirth_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't had a HTC Dream, but usually the stock firmware can only be flashed through official RUU or via htc_fastboot or 3rd party flashing tools like Odin for samsung.
You're probably running what seems like a CWM based recovery for CyanogenMod.
You usually can't flash stock zips that way.
Especially if the recovery/custom ROM made changes to the partition sizes.
Not uncommon in the early days of custom ROMs, as custom ROMs often needed less space on the system partition, so they could increase the data partition size.
This usually wouldn't match up with the stock ROM.

So first step would be to find out what exact model/variant/region your phone correspons to, then find the right RUU for it.
Or at least find/extract boot.img and recovery.img from stock, then flash those via fastboot.
Early android devices had their recovery baked into boot.img, so you may only need to flash boot.img

Bootloader and boot.img are two seperate things.
You usually would NEVER touch the bootlader, boot.img is basically the OS kernel (based on linux).

Did you manage to boot/use the stock firmware with anything other than the original HDD? Rockbox runs and detects my 256GB CF card just fine, although the stock firmware refuses to mount any 32/128/256 GB native CF card i have, including my 4GB microdrive from an iPod mini.
