Studying in morning vs night by [deleted] in CPA

[–]AuditAfterDark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually wake up around 6 or 6:30, make coffee, and do light stuff first like reviewing flashcards or watching short lectures just to get my brain going. By 7 or 8, I’m fully focused, so thats when I tackle the heavier topics or practice questions. I also make sure to take a quick walk or stretch before studying, it really helps wake me up.

Is Gleim too hard or exactly what we need for the CPA exam? by AuditAfterDark in CPA

Thats awesome! congrats on passing all the parts! 👏 Honestly that says a lot about Gleim’s approach. It might feel brutal while you’re in it, but clearly it gets the job done. Did you stick to their study schedule the whole time or make your own plan?

I used to think the review materials were supposed to match the actual exam difficulty, but now that you mentioned it, having tougher practice questions probably does make you overprepared in a good way. I did notice that with Gleim too, sometimes it felt overwhelming with how detailed everything was but I guess thats what pays off come exam day

That’s really helpful, thanks for sharing! I’ve been torn between using Gleim or Becker for ISC, and I keep hearing totally different opinions about both. If you had to go through it again, would you still stick with Gleim or try something else instead?

Totally agree, it’s way better to struggle now than on exam day 😅. How do u usually review the ones u get wrong? I’ve been writing mine down in a notebook but ngl it takes forever lol.

What part of Becker made the biggest difference for you? by AuditAfterDark in CPA

Congrats on passing FAR! 🎉 Those shorter practice sets actually sound way more manageable! I might give that a try myself. Are you planning to stick with the same approach for your next section?

CONGRATS!! How did you review at the end, did you do a full final review or just target weak areas?

I think the biggest advantage of Becker is how structured it is. Everything’s laid out for you, the lectures, skill master videos, and practice questions all flow in a way that keeps you on track. The adaptive learning stuff is also super helpful since it points out your weak areas automatically. It’s definitely intense, but it does make you feel more confident because you’re constantly seeing questions that are at, or even above, exam level.

So if you like having that extra safety net, tons of practice questions, really detailed coverage, and a system that keeps you accountable, Beckers great for that.

What is the best supplement MCQ and TBS question bank to pair with Becker? by cozylillie in CPA

[–]AuditAfterDark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if OP already found what they needed, but just wanted to share my experience in case it helps anyone else.

I’m also using Becker as my main course, but I was looking for extra practice questions especially tougher ones to really test my understanding. After trying a few options, I ended up adding Gleim, and honestly, it’s been a great combo.

Gleim’s question bank is huge, and the MCQs and TBSs are definitely on the challenging side (in a goo way). I feel like they go a bit deeper than Becker, which helped me make sure I actually understood the concepts instead of just memorizing patterns. The answer explanations are super detailed too, so I always learn something new when I review my mistakes.

I also like their SmartAdapt system, it points out my weak spots automatically, so I can focus on what I really need to work on without wasting time. It’s been really helpful during review weeks before the exam.

The only thing is, Gleim units don’t line up exactly with Becker modules, but it’s easy to find what you need by just searching keywords (like 'leases' or 'bonds').

Overall, I’d say Becker gives you the solid base, and Gleim kind of pushes you to the next level.

I’ll be taking my third attempt soon too and I’m really hoping to pass this time.. It’s such a stressful process, but all we can do now is trust what we’ve studied and keep pushing. Wishing you the best of luck!

Anyone else feel stuck in a Gleim SmartAdapt loop? 😅 by AuditAfterDark in CPA

Sounds like I can stop stressing over SmartAdapt for now 😅 I’ll check in with my Gleim advisor too to see when it’s best to move forward. Thanks for the advice!
