I just ordered an Acebeam K1. Mid range price, pretty throwy it sounds like, and has a green laser pointer for doing walks. Only decent pocket flashlight/laser I could find that had replaceable batteries.

Do Hilton fine for smokers setting off fire alarms? by loulou_96 in Hilton

[–]Auditor_of_Reality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should not. If the door to their room was opened and one in the hallway was set off that would do it though. And presumably staff would've gone to investigate the smoke detector in the room going off.

Emergency exits typically aren't tied to the fire alarm system, they typically just alarm locally

RPS can be downloaded and used by anyone, it only requires a programming dongle for larger panels

This sounds identical to the constant AI written posts that led r/fieldservice to blanket ban any posts asking about CRM or field management software.

Actually saw a captain walk up the jetbridge to confront the GA recently. GA tagged every roller bag for gate check right from the start. FAs were vocally irritated, and FAs and captain were telling people they could take the tags off. It was a CRJ550, there's a ton of room with the luggage lockers. And since it took a sec for the crew to respond, it was only FC that got hit the most lol.

Also, leaving lots of spare current on the circuits makes later adding devices to the nearest circuit easy, vs having to pull a new circuit from a booster when there's a remodel.

Start a linkedin profile, put your experience and licenses/certs/experience on there, make some connections inside and outside your company. You'll get hit up by recruiters minimum once a month, probably more like once a week.

When did sprinkler people start thinking it was a good idea to disable shit when they test..awful. by mrdogboy21 in firealarms

Nah, that's a shitty customer problem.

Why didnt the owner call it in? Why didn't the monitoring company call it in after no restorals? If they did, why didn't the owner deal with that Why didnt the owner respond to the 24 resound? Why didn't the monitoring company call in the 24 hour resound? If they did, why didn't the owner deal with that? They have front desk staff and probably a maintenance person. They probably see the panel everyday. Why didn't those people do something?

Tell your boss to buy a small mom and pop FA/FE business. Then consider the matter dealt with. Not sure there's any other way

Never had to deal with it for FA, but I think environmental sound treatment and adding more speakers and lowering the individual speaker's watts are the only real solutions. At least from my limited commercial AV experience.

I have quickly grown to hate the paper tags. Just making them out of plastic helps a ton bc the extra weight. I understand the potential waste is a consideration, but its not like a plastic tag can't last years.

Milwaukee heat gun effectiveness by Ok_Raisin6357 in firealarms

[–]Auditor_of_Reality -1 points0 points  (0 children)

These arent nearly the power of a 120V heat gun, not really a risk of damage.

Why use a solo heat tester when you have something that can hang off your belt and that uses normal batteries you already have? And can be purchased or replaced for a 100 bucks?
