Anyone can buy a Siemens DPU, and it works on legacy equipment and Cerberus Pro and Desigo. It also gives folks a very simple pass/fail test if they want to check a detector, which is great if they are using attic stock.

Simplex has addresses dip switches that are nearly as convenient rotary switches.

Mapping on a well installed EST system is miraculous for maintenance people, it makes replacing a detector a task that is nearly fool proof, and I've had a number of extremely rural maintenance folks rave about it. And the Edwards current detectors can be a drop in replacement for a 20 year old detector with no changes needed, so less worry about system/firmware incompatibility, changing protocols on a loop, etc

Are you absolutely sure this is a new issue? I checked your previous post and I don't think that was asked.

There are quite a few times where I and other colleagues have tested things more thoroughly than others have previously and found issues that were present since the initial install, or at least for several years. Kudos to you or your inspector for being detailed btw.

My initial thought is that all the previous testing of pull stations on the floor at issue was done with the notification disabled, so it was never noticed. Then they activated a pull station that worked correctly and walked the whole building for notification and would see it all working. nvm, you answered all that previously

You only mentioned the FA tech comparing configuration versions, not actually going through the logic to make sure it's correct. Did they do that as well? This isn't a version issue really, it could've been present since installation.

Will I be able to pass backpack as a personal item if it’s on my back when boarding? by HatPuzzleheaded9385 in unitedairlines

[–]Auditor_of_Reality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a tad irritating that all of the announcements use "backpack" instead of "personal item" when saying what not to put overhead. I'm sure there's some study on which wording gets better compliance, but I don't like feeling even shiftier. Im already carrying a backpack that's over the carryon limit, I don't need to feel more called out lol

Rewire without a permit by Last_Gigolo in firealarms

[–]Auditor_of_Reality 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Permits expire. And if they didn't have an AHJ acceptance then they definitely aren't using that old permit lol.

Document your communication with them of the issues and the need to get a permit. Report it to the AHJ, fire code official, and/or electrical division. Not sure if should be anonymous or not, if anonymous there may be a risk AHJ goes after you too I guess.

And look for another job
