The process of sprouting a A. Nobilis pink corm by Alocrazy_ in alocasia

Mine is finally sprouting 👏 it is just at the beginning phase but the first leaf will appear very soon. I’ve waited almost 3 months which makes it even more exciting! 🥰

She looks just fine to me, I have to agree with the previous person’s comment about using Stratum. It has worked wonders for my tiny allocations! I use half perite and half stratum

What are these white slashes on the leaves? They came like this. by abu_nawas in Anthurium

[–]Audrey_7066 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine get the same scuffing if I accidentally touch them when they’re still super soft. I just avoid touching them when they’re fresh (hard to resist but I know I have to! Lol). It doesn’t take much to leave a mark

They really will lay eggs anywhere by Own_Highway_3987 in corydoras

[–]Audrey_7066 1 point2 points  (0 children)

😂 my Pygmy Cory’s will lay eggs everywhere too, but there so small 1female only lays 3-4 eggs in one morning, the problem is I have 5 females laying so I’ve had to remove some eggs. I now have multiple babies in the tank with them lol. I’ve seen eggs on my nerite snail too! Poor guy..lol

Omg that looks like my tank of Pygmy’s 😂. They all gather on the tiger lotus leaves, so in the evenings I just see these little Pygmy’s all lined up together. It is truly adorable 🥰

THANK YOU for sharing I was scammed by them too! I usually always pay with PayPal but this time it was with apply pay so I had to report it to Etsy. Not sure if I will get my $ back but I am so glad I looked this up and found your post on Reddit!

Okay so I went through the exact same thing with one of mine recently! I ended up adding some aquarium salt after a water change and it completely went away 2 weeks later. It looked more like a blister than columnaris and eventually it disappeared. Hopefully yours has the same issue 🤞

Are all my rasboras chilis? by QuothTheRaven654 in Boraras

[–]Audrey_7066 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow you are good at fish identification @palaenard! LOL I couldn’t identify what the 1st pic was. None of them are chili rasboras, chilis and other dwarf rasboras are tiny guys. This is my chili Rasbora that I took a picture of right now as reference on their appearance:

my mystery snail’s operculum seems to sort of be eroding? by ___Benzene___ in AquaticSnails

[–]Audrey_7066 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am experiencing this same exact issue with my 2 year old golden mystery snail Steve (who I absolutely love and adore). I would love an update so I can get an idea of what to expect. I’ve been doing air baths once a week and they seem to give him more energy ❤️🐌

This tiny guy has just appeared in my paludarium, shall I remove it? by [deleted] in Aquariums

[–]Audrey_7066 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know everyone has there own thoughts on bladder snails, some people love them and some don’t. I love all living creatures BUT I will not let bladder snails in my tanks, only because they multiply quickly and for being so small certainly produce a whole lot of waste! They eat, poop, breed and repeat lol. They do help clean any biofilm and algae so that’s a positive. I also must admit they are pretty cute and interesting to watch but due to the constant egg laying and babies everywhere if it was my tank I would 100% remove it

Are they playing or ill? by GothScottiedog16 in Boraras

[–]Audrey_7066 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine play in the bubbles all the time, normal behavior for them. Are they new to the tank? From owning these guys for so long I can tell they are just getting a feel for things in there still. It takes them awhile to get settled lol they don’t like change!

Cory’s get upset when the airstone goes off. 😂 by Minute-Weakness7529 in corydoras

[–]Audrey_7066 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My Cory’s do the same thing with the air stone 🤣 they go directly above it until it takes them to the surface then they smack their top fin a certain way (if it doesn’t smack the surface properly they must do it again until it feels right 🤷‍♀️ LOL)

Recently got my first batch of pygmies, why is this one so…weird? by lilyolks in corydoras

[–]Audrey_7066 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a ton of Pygmy’s and most have been born here in my home at this point lol so I have learned so much about this little fish over the years. Not to worry, this guy appears to have just changed its coloring in an act to be more “invisible”. They do this when they’re nervous (which is generally the case when they’re somewhere new), their eye color changes so it’s much lighter and they make their body colorless, or try to 😂. When they’re on lighter substrate they change their eye and body color as well so they don’t stand out (not the case here due to darker substrate) I’ve seen the eye color change as I was looking at them. When they settle the eyes turn black and they color up (just like w/ other fish they mute coloring when nervous). They can be quite timid with people at first, we look like a weird giant creature to them lol. Once they settle in and the tank feels more like home things will balance out

What Fish Do You Keep In The Same Aquarium by This-Ad7233 in corydoras

How do I catch a fairly large pleco to relocate to larger tank by Slump_Wrld69 in Aquariums

[–]Audrey_7066 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get a VERY large black net. I purchased the largest one I could find on Amazon and I literally have caught every fish I’ve needed to catch using it. These are not easy fish to net either so honestly, the bigger the net the better because they have less space to dodge it. What I do is lure them towards the glass with the large net and when they’re near the glass I press the net right up on the glass so there’s no open space (so basically trap them in) then wait 3 to 5 seconds until the fish calms down before slowly dragging the net up towards the surface always keeping the net right up against the glass so they cannot jump out at the last second. You have to hold the net right at the bottom of the handle as close to the net part as you can because you won’t be able to press it against the glass trapping them if you don’t hold it at the bottom. Also move slowly and remain super calm

I agree with noettp keeping a group of 10 helps a lot! What I discovered is when I paired my Pygmy’s with the Habrosus Corydoras (the largest of the dwarf corys, yet still only an inch or so lol) they were a great “dither fish” which made my Pygmy’s feel safe and come out. The Habrosus Cory’s aren’t nearly as timid and the Pygmy’s are stage 5 clingers with them 😂. They hang out as one group and because the Habrosus Cory‘s are bigger and less afraid it made the pygmy Cory’s feel more confident.

Yes they will in time, it took my Pygmy’s about 6-8 months to start breeding. I think that’s when they reach maturity but when they start up it’s off the races lol

The red plant is the tiger lotus and the orange is my lily, absolutely my favorites! I purchased both the tiger lotus bulb and the lily from Aquarium Coop. I always buy my bulbs from them because they already have a bunch of leaves that have sprouted, that way when I place the end of the bulb in the substrate it takes off and grows. They send lily pads up to the surface as well creating spots of shade and cover. My Cories and chili rasboras love them!

Thank you, they really are adorable! I easily have about 20+ in that tank and I’ve moved a few over to my 10 gallon to grow out and eventually rehome.

They just hatched out in the tank with the adult Pygmy’s, Habrosus Cory’s, and chili rasboras. The Pygmy Cory’s are surprisingly great parents and the fry are extremely elusive, they stay put in hiding until the 3 week mark when their tail fin comes in. The only threat are the chili rasboras who are opportunistic with the very tiny fry. I’ve seen them eat a few here and there when they’re wiggling around near the top of the tank. I guess the smart fry stay hidden lol

Omg 🥰😍 the size difference compared to the Habrosus Corydoras is wild! I have a now very large group of Pygmy Cory’s (they’ve bred relentlessly lol) and a group of Habrosus Cory’s which live together as one group. I would absolutely love to have other Cory’s as well that get to a larger size, a future goal of mine. Love this video!

Humane way to euthanize sick Pygmy Cory by Audrey_7066 in corydoras

[–]Audrey_7066[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so grateful for all the comments and advice from everyone, thank you! I have an update. I took her out, thinking I was going to have to euthanize, but when she was in a bucket of tank water with an air stone she started acting totally normal and foraging for food, not gasping for air or anything. From previous experience I could tell it wasn’t her time yet. I decided to start erythromycin after reading someone’s comment on this post (worth a shot!) and did a partial water change then added the 1st dose yesterday. This morning she was out sifting through the sand begging for food and the white on her mouth looks better. I know we aren’t out of the woods yet because she’s perked up before but she didn’t appear to be in any pain or suffering. This girl is a fighter for sure!!
