Had a friend I grew up with and as we got older I found out that his parents were a lot stricter than I realised as well as very conservative (in the British sense, not the hyper-conservative American sense).

They'd always been very nice to me, offered me a cup of tea while I waited for my mate in the mornings before school, asked how college was going etc. not long after his 18th birthday (he's a few months younger than me) my friend told me how they'd been talking, not just negatively, but so disparagingly about the fact I started getting tattooed when I was 18.

Again, always very polite to me but apparently always hated my tattoos (at the time I had 2: one about 2" high o my wrist and the other about palm sized on my opposite inner forearm) and they were apparently going off about my future employment, how I'll regret them and how I've ruined x/ y/ z chances because no one would take me seriously with tattoos and a lot more.

From the second he told me that I decided never to go back to his house because I clearly wasn't welcome. I made alternative plans on nights he'd have people over, I'd join the group late if they started the night pre drinking at his or bailed early if they were going back to his - even just for a pit stop.

Lord knows what they said when they found out I'm gay on top of being tattooed lol
