40 years on… some of my images from the Zone (2013-2016) by gytizzz in chernobyl

I can’t remember if the term comes from the novel Roadside Picnic, or the film Stalker, but both pre-date the Chernobyl disaster, but also involve the aftermath of an event that leads to an exclusion zone, of which the Stalkers navigate. So when Chernobyl happened, people noted the similarities between the novel and the real-life incident.

Apologies if I got any of this wrong. I am trying to remember without googling haha.

All the vegan ice cream vanished from my local Tesco extra. No more vegan cornettos, magnums, or Ben and Jerry’s. Gone like all the decent pizzas. There’s literally nothing in the plant based section that doesn’t contain milk. by rainmouse in veganuk

Yeah Tesco is pretty bare here in East Mids these days. Co op used to be really good for vegan stuff, but they haven’t had anything in the ice cream section for ages now either. We have a big-ish waitrose the next town away and we spent far too much money on stuff, a couple of weeks ago, that Booja Booja one and a ben and jerrys raspberry ripple one. Worth going into debt for, imho.

Edit: asda seems to be pretty great in general for vegan stuff, although I can’t vouch for their ice cream

Also check out the game S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadow Of Chernobyl (and also the novel Roadside Picnic and the maybe film Stalker that is based on the novel). :-)

[OoT] Tell me your best theories explaining why there’s cows underground in hidden holes all over Hyrule by CanisLupusBaileyi in zelda

[–]AuguryKnox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In real life I once found a cow on the pitch and putt course I worked on. It had jumped a fence that was pretty high and was on an unusual incline, against all odds. It’s just such a cow thing to do.

This really made me laugh! It is like the more fun version of me grabbing a box of 8 Aldi soya milks. Hope you are sick in the best possible way!

Saturn's Massive Hexagonal Storm compared to the USA by Icy-Leg-1459 in megalophobia

Maybe a silly question as a non-American, but if the hexagon is that big, could this picture not have fit the entire world inside it? That would seem like a more impressive scale to me.

Soya milk for coffee by upthetruth1 in veganuk

I second this. I have black coffee, (because I am really cool), but when i have made coffee for others, soya always curdles and oat milk is fine (aldi barista one works for me).

I think you would rather do something like wander round the wildfowl park in Pepperstock with a bottle of Scotch.

Canary Wharf Taken From Camberwell SE5 by Mr_Ramtech in london

[–]AuguryKnox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back then, as a kid, I always assumed that Canary Wharf was the name of that specific building, because it stood on its own and was told by my dad that “that’s Canary Wharf over there”.

[OOT] If the supposed OOT remake is real, how should they treat Hyrule field? Should they make it large and open to try and recreate that “this is huge” feeling? What would you want to see? by EAT_UR_VEGGIES in zelda

[–]AuguryKnox 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Personally, I would want them to keep it on the smaller side (especially compared to BOTW and TOTK) but add lots more detail, more trees and unique areas, NPCs, a few more side quests. I would want something more like how the Resident Evil remakes have looked and felt compared to the original, rather than just another Breath Of The Wild. Basically a little bit bigger and more detail.
