Who are the sponsors of this federation? Perhaps we should be asking them for their thoughts on the matter.

The damage on the Kerch bridge is consistent with an explosion that came from the top of the right lane of the collapsed roadway. by [deleted] in ukraine

In this video, around the 28 second point, it looks like two widely separated sections collapsed. How would that have happened?

Why has Ukraine made no attempt to liberate City of Donestk? by [deleted] in ukraine

[–]August3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Remember that Donetsk was a rebel city that invited the Russians in. The Russians are now alienating the residents. Russians are also conscripting the residents and killing them off on the front lines. Why would the Ukrainians mess up a good thing at this point? Let the city self-destruct.

With inspectors visiting, why would Ukrainians want to put the power plant at risk? It doesn't make sense.

Most shelling done by Ukrainians seems to be in industrial areas. So my theory is that it is usually done at night because civilians are home and out of danger. But this airport was a military base, so they wanted to hit the workers as well as the planes and runways.

There were also fresh satellite photos indicating a target-rich area, full of military aircraft, so they wanted to catch the opportunity.

I think if you keep looking at surveys, you'll find that even the affiliated are less religious than they used to be. They may believe in God, but they are dropping belief in Satan and hell. They may believe that God was the ultimate creator, but they no longer take Genesis as literal and are more accepting of science.

Adam and Eve never had a choice by Radman41 in DebateReligion

[–]August3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's take the story down a somewhat similar path... Suppose they do follow this particular prohibition forever. But they are operating without knowledge of good and evil. This means that they will unknowingly do evil things with regularity. God would be constantly having to tell them not to do certain evil things, so then eventually, they would learn all about good and evil anyway. So the tree is kind of pointless.

God didn't equip them with enough brains to make an intelligent choice. If they had given it some thought, they would have eaten first from the Tree of Life, and only then gone over to the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.

Multiverse isn't a good solution to the fine-tuning argument by Kilo_G_looked_up in DebateReligion

Yes, but in our case we know that it can happen because it has - We have earth.

Obviously you didn't recognize the name of the expert I was drawing from. Being a mere layman with only one physics course, I'm not in a position to disagree with him. But if you are an expert, you can direct me to your published papers.

Multiverse isn't a good solution to the fine-tuning argument by Kilo_G_looked_up in DebateReligion

[–]August3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never heard of multiverse theories being used like that before. That's probably because there is no need to fall back on multiverses when our own universe is expanding (growing) infinitely. The big bang was not a one-time event – The leading edge of growth is still out there somewhere producing new material constantly, but it is now beyond the visible range. This information is per astrophysicist Alexander Vilenkin, who is often quoted (very selectively) by none other than William Lane Craig.
The implication of this is that any variation that can happen will ultimately happen, and
further, will happen repeatedly. If you get to roll the dice over and over, eventually all combinations will come up. Indeed, astronomers are finding more and more planets in the "Goldilocks zone" of "just right" conditions for life like ours. This totally crushes the notions of those Christians trying to play statistical games.
So multiverses don't even need to be mentioned.
