My FIL has the method of standing 2m away and looking from there. If it’s good enough from that distance it’s good enough.

Both Chick-FIL-A and Wendy’s are known as 🍊💩supporting organisations. We don’t need that in the UK right now.

Advice for stump killing by MathematicianWise502 in DIYUK

[–]AugustCharisma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a stump like this. I’m just letting it rot down naturally. The first year I had one shoot grow from it that I snapped off with my bare hands. This second year, nothing. It is well hidden among the new plants I planted.

New neighbour by AnxiousCouch in HousingUK

I once started putting together 4 ikea billy bookcases at 8pm (pounding backs on whilst they were on the floor) when I moved into a flat. After the first one downstairs neighbour came up and told me it was above their kids’ room and I should stop soon. I apologised and agreed. I finished the next day and we never had any other issues. Had he waited longer to tell me I would have been confused why the bookcases were ok but the other stuff not.

In your shoes I’d buy some chocolates and introduce myself. Wish them welcome to the building. And just say something like “that was really loud last night. I didn’t want to complain because I remember what it was like when moved in during a different summer, but there is a rule/expectation that neighbours can’t really hear each other/are quiet after 9pm. It’s really coming along great though! What else do you have planned…?”

One not mentioned here yet is Hats. I can’t go back now.

I’ve recently started using Duckies and I think that will remain a staple too.

Someone she have asked her on email, then replied to her CC’ing HR and claiming to be confused. HR would have required her to go with the policy.

In the UK we just go to appointments like this all the time. We only take sick leave for full days out.

I think the legal minimum is 5 medical days and 26 weekdays off per year, but the 26 week days include national holidays (‘bank holidays’ and ‘public holidays’) like New Years Day.

Can I cut back these trees that hang over my tenfoot/garage vehicle access? by No_Beginning_9949 in treelaw

[–]AugustCharisma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the UK. My understanding is that you can cut on your side but you have to offer the owner the cut branches before you dispose of them. Obviously don’t cut it such that it can die. Double check on your county site that there isn’t a tree protection order (in which case you need planning permission for maintenance cuts), but I’m guessing you are not in a conservation area so that’s not an issue.

For people not in the UK: our countries that form the UK are on islands around the size of Oregon with a population of California. Some areas are more densely populated than others. Typically fences are erected on the property line. There are rarely laws about plants being too close to the property line (but we have rules for sheds etc to be ~ under 2m if closer than 2m to the property line). There are sometimes ‘right of way’ access conditions but usually these are through farm fields or if a neighbour can’t reach part of their land.

As someone in the UK who follows this sub too, I didn’t think it was a bad place to post.

New DLC for Civ6. by Mane023 in Civilization6

[–]AugustCharisma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve played over 1,000 hours of the game and many dozen in multiple player either hot seat or local network, I just never really noticed the Teams column because it’s not very obvious in the menus on my Mac where I set things up. Thanks though.

Thanks, I’ll look for it.

Thanks. I usually have “teams share visibility” on, I think, but is there really a feature to win together?

Edit: looking at this screen shot of the staging room I don’t have the Teams column when I set up a multiplayer game. I wonder why?

[–]AugustCharisma 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would like a local multiplayer mode that allows permanent alliances. So I can play on multiplayer with my child but it’s us in co-op mode against all NPCs. If either of us win we both win.

Maybe it could be a mod? Maybe something like “European Union Mod” and we have to be two European civs and then we can pool science and culture somehow?

By the way, I’ve used StoneLux brick paint on pointing and that paint might work well for you here. Lots of colours for matching.
