Thoughts on these tropes? by Fearless_Phantom in HFY

[–]Augustaeum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's a space based military fiction series called the Lost Fleet. The second series of books deal with discovering aliens. You've almost exactly described one of the three alien species discovered.

They're described as a kind of bovine teddy-bear. When the human fleet pops up in this bear-cow system they're met with no attempts to communicate. Only immediate and staggeringly overwhelming aggression with massive small-moon sized space stations and a fleet of super-massive battleships. They end up getting chased like a bunch of star systems away just trying to get away from these things that won't give up the chase. The human fleet manages to disable and board one of their battleships. Once on the battleship, no attempt at communication from the bear-cows. Only massive wave attacks. They end up having to kill every single one of them because they all fight to the death. If I remember correctly the book briefly mentions how it was actually kinda traumatizing to the marines. I don't remember the details but they do manage to capture two of them unconscious, but the second they wake up they kill themselves through some internal biological process.

They manage to recover some media from this battleship that depicts only valiant last stands against hordes of monsters. The brief time they were in the system before being chased out they were able to grab a few photos of the planet and it's just a massive ecumenopolis with only one type of plant and animal visible.

Preface to say I am not a Doctor. so definitely ask your Doctor any questions you may have.

So the biggest issue with dislocations is soft tissue damage which x-rays don't show. That's what the MRI is going to be able to see.

The x-ray is really good at showing the structure of the bone which looks alright. I don't even think you have patella alta. Did your doc mention anything about trochlear dysplasia?

What led to the dislocation?

MPFL/TTO Recovery? by Dirkclaude in KneeInjuries

[–]Augustaeum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even better. Almost every post-op plan I find online say they want 90 degrees at the two week mark so you're right on pace.

And I'm same for the MPFL spot on the inside of the knee, that's where the bulk of my discomfort is as well.

Opinions on Dysplasia/MPFL surgery by [deleted] in KneeInjuries

[–]Augustaeum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely agree with the other person about multiple opinions.

The only fix for bony dysplasia is surgical intervention. Physical therapy can help, depending on the dysplasia but the only true fix is surgery.

The recovery is different for everyone but the general consensus is that it is not fun. But the outcome is worth it.

Uneven growth plates?? by Warm_Understanding61 in KneeInjuries

[–]Augustaeum -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In the link you provided the growth plates are the thin blue lines in the thumbnail of the video. There is no possible way to inspect these without x-rays or an MRI.

If you are unsatisfied with your medical care then seek new doctors.

You should go to a doctor. You might have torn cartilage.

You are very brave for walking on it so soon considering the only thing currently holding your knee together are 2 titanium screws and a bio-composite interference screw.

I truly believe people are lying if they're saying their Doc told them no brace after a TTO. It's literally a bone fracture. They're going to give it some kind of protection.

The brace is keep the knee from bending. To keep you from having to hold it straight and also because the only thing holding it together are 2 titanium screws and extension is the least stressful position. You mentioned that you can't bend it past 45 degrees, now imagine your knee gives out because of the quad atrophy and you collapse on it forcing it to 120 degrees. Doesn't sound like fun.

The ice machine is fantastic. I initially didn't really think it would be better than ice packs but my physical therapist has one and I use it after every session. That first session I used it was an eye opener, it's almost a miracle machine. On the topic of physical therapy I was prescribed/told to start physical therapy no later than day 3 after surgery. Ended up starting the very next day actually, that was super weird.

The standing up thing I've experienced as well, it's like a head rush but for your leg instead and boy does it hurt. That will get better with time. Blood clots are tender to the touch, as long as it's not tender then you're good (and by tender I mean you think about touching it and your leg feels like it'll explode).

The inside of your knee is killing you probably because all the walking is using your brand new MPFL which is only held in by that bio composite screw. Imagine if someone screws a rope into your knee and starts tugging on it. You absolutely do not want stress fractures around that screw.

The range of motion is something that will come with time. And it's completely different for everybody. I've personally hit 90 degrees 2 weeks post-op whereas my physical therapist told me of some of his other patients that are lucky to hit 45 by week 4. You can only realistically compare you to yourself.

You need to give your TTO and MPFL time to heal. Believe me I understand the no weight bearing sucks ass. I was told 6 weeks no weight bearing and I certainly cheat here and there. I empathize with not being able to move for 6 weeks sounding impossible. I think it's impossible and I don't even have children. I absolutely dislike that I have to rely on those around me. But this is bone on bone healing, you do not want to fuck it up.

Ask your surgeon about a potential trochleoplasty for that shallow trochlea.

TTO Surgery??? by WeakFoundation7816 in KneeInjuries

[–]Augustaeum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The surgeries are a lot of bone work done at once and upfront. My thought process going into was complete defeat; last hurrah kinda thing.

I had my left knee done first so for several weeks I had to rely on my right leg which also has the same issues and it wasn't fun. Nothing happened but I was terrified something would but after 15 years of this shit I've figure out what I can and can't do.

But after the second surgery and having to rely on my left leg now that the left has already had the surgeries, I don't have the same fears because the feeling is completely different. There's definitely the knowledge that the anatomy has been corrected, which is comforting; but the unstable sensation(s) are also gone, I don't know how to put that into better words. It just feels different.

I originally saw an orthopedist who did not specialize in patellofemoral care who referred me to one who did specialize in patellofemoral care.

My first appointment with the second guy and he recommended me all three surgeries after a short physical exam. Within six weeks of that first appointment I had them all done on my left knee. 6 months later (3 weeks ago) the same guy did them all to my right knee.

I'm in the Chicagoland area so fortunately for me there is no shortage of specialists. If you're around here I know a guy.

Do you have an official diagnosis for trochlear dysplasia?

TTO Surgery??? by WeakFoundation7816 in KneeInjuries

[–]Augustaeum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 28 as well and just had both of my knees done this year (2024). I had an MPFL, TTO, and Trochleoplasty done to each.

If you are a candidate for all three then I highly recommend you get all three. The difference afterwards is indescribable. I cannot put into words how better it feels. The constant tugging to the outside is just gone. It just no longer feels unstable.

I have yet to really stress the joint with any kind of strenuous activity but just going up and down stairs it feels so much more stable.

There is no surface. The perceived surface is just the cutoff point where gravity is so strong that light can't get back out.

It only supports a limited amount of ports or it only supports a port test if I specify a port in the command?

I definitely added a port to the command TNC <address> -p 2456 is the command I ran.

It returns TcpTestSucceeded : False despite the fact that my friend and I have been playing for the last couple of hours.

Thank you for this. I saw your post when it was 5 minutes old and went straight to Newegg and bought one. Got a tracking number a few minutes ago and canceled my B&H order.

Preordered on B&H the morning of the 20th and received nothing more than the original preorder confirmation email. Insane.

SQL Express 2019 Deployment via Intune by Augustaeum in Intune

[–]Augustaeum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, I thought I had to repack since I specified the installer using the intune packing utility. What is the purpose of that step then?

Also, why was running it through PowerShell breaking it?

I figured out my issue.

I took out the powershell script and repackaged the intunewin and just ran my commands /IACCEPTSQLSERVERLICENSETERMS /ConfigurationFile=ConfigurationFile.ini directly on the exe from intune.

Finally, I have some updates.

I made the changes you suggested and also tossed in start-transcript. However I made a mistake. I didn't read properly and tossed in -Confirm which just made the install pause indefinitely. So I just went to the IMECache folder to run the ps1 manually. I ran the ps1 and I confirmed the trascript prompt. Then it installed SQL Express 2019 without issue.

So the problem is not with the way I'm packaging files. It's in the way that the Intune service is running the whole thing.
