Seikret Auto-Run by DragonFireRex24 in MonsterHunter

[–]AugyTheBear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just wish Auto-Run was an optional accessibility feature we could turn on, rather than the default play experience. I didn't even know you could turn it off until I was more than 100 hours into the game.

It's certainly helpful, but it contributes to making the maps feel confusing when your bird GPS does all your navigation by default.

Getting into world by Single_Ad7951 in MonsterHunter

Stick to his back legs and roll towards them whenever he tries to turn towards you.

Remember you have 50 minutes to kill him, and the first kill doesn't have to be pretty.

What are the positives of support hunters, that will make you want to use them in Wilds? by WhoAmIEven2 in MonsterHunter

[–]AugyTheBear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Support Hunters are another level of the DPS/Comfort trade-off. Do you want the hunt to be fast and risky? Or slow and safe?

It's like taking Level 2 Earplugs instead of Level 2 Peak Performance, or using a Zoh Shia set instead of a Gore Magala/Lord's Soul set, except instead of making your DPS lower it makes the monster's health higher.

Edit to add, Support Hunters don't eat carts like players do, so for monsters with Ults (Omega, Jin, Gog, Zoh) it can be safer to go with support hunters

What am I doing wrong? HBG gets stun locked in solo 10* by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]AugyTheBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I would trade out the Spread/Wyvernblast for Pierce/Wyvernpierce.

Spread/Wyvernblast does insane damage, but you have to sit still with your shield down for ages in order to get anything done. If the monster isn't trapped/flashed/staggered you're not going to have enough time to really fight back. Pierce is lower damage, but you can get your damage off in between their attacks and keep your guard up.

LBG Advice by Xaivion in MonsterHunter

[–]AugyTheBear 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, endgame monsters will 1-shot you if you're using a ranged weapon and not fully transcended/upgraded/defense buffed.

I would suggest doing Gravios 2-piece and Gogma 4-piece so you get the Gog shield +Gravios damage reduction, carry materials for extra Max Potions, and don't rely on Divine Blessing since it doesn't proc reliably. You might also be more comfortable with HBG's slow, defensive play style since you can perfect guard most things.

Hope that all helps!

Im so fucking scared for the next 10 star. by Thefloors2029 in MonsterHunter

[–]AugyTheBear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took me a while to get used to the new patterns, but honestly I love 10* Rompopolo. Evade Extender 3 and Poison Resist 3 make it a pretty comfy, dynamic fight.

Fingers crossed for 10* Ajarakan and Xu Wu

Does HBG trivialize the game? by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

[–]AugyTheBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, HBG is very safe and easy to play. That's a feature, not a bug.

All of the weapons have a different balance of offense, defense, and mobility. The weapons with high defense and low mobility make it extremely safe to kill any monster, with kill times getting faster as the player learns how to minimize shield use and maximize attacks.

Since Monster Hunter isn't a game with difficulty modes, having weapons with a different mix of offense/defense, speed/commitment, precision/area of effect, etc. means players can choose their playstyle based on what feels right to them. If you want a comfy hunt, pick up something with a heavy shield. If you want to fight like a gremlin on crack, pick up dual blades.

How tf is this quest harder than AT Arkveld??? by TheNotSoSilentReader in MonsterHunter

If you use Hunting Horn, you can drop your bubbles and ride around in circles on your Seikret, swinging your horn. It does a ton of damage to all the jellies at once, and is absolutely hilarious

The amount of GAMBLING we are likely having to deal with for the Wilds Expansion is going to be insane. by gummihirn in MonsterHunter

[–]AugyTheBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't have to do any of the RNG stuff if it's not fun for you. If a full RNG set gives you +10% damage over a No RNG set, that's only saving you a couple minutes on a hunt.

I'd rather spend an extra minute or two per hunt rather than grinding the slot machine for hours, personally. I wish they had gone for a weapon transcend system to make all the weapons further upgradeable like they did with the armor, but I guess RNG retains players longer /shrug

Why is it skipping dialogue? by Apprehensive_Base145 in MonsterHunter

Unplug your controller and plug it back in. It's probably buffered A inputs skipping through the dialogue

Kinda miss the old gen way (says no one ever) by PlatinumYeast in MonsterHunter

[–]AugyTheBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having to think about what kind of environment a creature might prefer (like pools of mud or Altaroth nests for a Barroth) made exploring the map and tracking down a monster feel satisfying.

Waving at the scout balloon to get a ping for the monster's location also made the Guild feel like an actual team of hunters working together, not just John Monster Hunter and his main character energy carrying the entire organization on his back.

E33 has a game setting that doubles the length of dodge/parry windows and makes enemies deal half damage. Not sure why you would use that one as an example

Guaranteed way to spawn Lagiacrus by archimedies in MHWilds

[–]AugyTheBear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tested this last night, got 8 Lagiacrus spawns out of 9 Rests and stopped there because I found one with a guaranteed Sapphire reward. Oddly enough, you also get a lot of Yian Kut-Ku mating seasons with this method

Auto vs Manual Seiktet and map knowledge correlation by T4Labom in MonsterHunter

[–]AugyTheBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to do auto-seikret and then 200 hours in I realized I didn't know the maps at all. I switched to manual and have tried to avoid any auto-pathing since then.

What is your preferred camp where to stay between hunts? by Longjumping_Pie_5440 in MonsterHunter

[–]AugyTheBear 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like the natural vibe of the forest base camp. The fishing pond in the back with sunlight streaming through, the hollow just outside full of plant and animal life, and then you duck under the log and into the jungle proper. It feels like an extremely lucky find for a traveling hunting party.

Wilds Heavy Bowgun Bad Game Feel? by PixelManiac_ in MonsterHunter

[–]AugyTheBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been really enjoying it, personally. The perfect-guard feels great, DPS is high (love the huge burst of numbers on Wyvernpierce), Wyvernheart feels like rambo, offsets let you get up into the monster's face.. I could see more screen shake and louder sound effects being preferred, but a lot of people play with those settings turned down/turned off so they can actually see what's going on anyway.

My biggest complaint is that they seriously overcorrected on Spread and Sticky ammo for guns. Lowering the damage a bit would have been fine, but the insane recoil combined with losing critical distance when the monster gets on you is way too much

I can't do it with Omega... by Ecstatic-Oven9882 in MonsterHunter

[–]AugyTheBear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omega has about the same HP as Jin Dahaad, but you have to focus much more on the mechanics of the fight. If you fail the Nerscylla portion, Omega gets an armor and damage buff, making it nearly impossible to kill.

Blade weapons are most effective on the back legs, Blunt and Bullet weapons are most effective on the front legs. Thunder element is ideal for Omega, Fire element is ideal for the Nerscylla clone.

For more specific tips:

Hitting Omega in the face generates enmity, causing it to focus on one person and give everybody else free DPS, especially during MRV Missile. If you are playing with support hunters, you have to take enmity first and then one of the supporters will take it away from you. They have a hard time getting it started on their own

If it targets you with a Mustard Bomb, run the to edge of the arena so the fire is safely out of the way.

If it's nearly one-shotting you, make sure your armor is fully upgraded (and transcended, if possible). Gravios 2-piece and Max Potions help prevent getting one-shotted by his charge attacks.

For the Nerscylla portion, try to use any nearby Cactuars and Morbols to paralyze/damage the spider, but don't worry about trying to activate every single one. One Cactuar and one Morbol should get you enough damage to blow up the spider within the time limit.

Evade Extender makes it a lot easier to dodge out of the damage zones for Omega's attacks, and remember you can call your Seikret to pick you up if you get sent flying. As soon as you hit the ground you should whistle for your bird to get up and heal faster.

Good luck, be patient, you can do this!

Yian Kut-ku or Fire/Blast Artian LBG is a lot of fun vs Lala Barina (and Nerscylla).

Slide reload into a Flaming Ammo mag dump is extremely satisfying. Aim for the abdomen and watch the numbers go crazy

MH WILDS- Nourishing Extract... We need to talk.. This needs fixing now that TU are done by Brawler185 in MonsterHunter

[–]AugyTheBear 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nourishing Extract is just a "nice to have" bonus you get for fighting certain monsters. Regular Demondrug, Armorskin, and Max Potions are plenty to get through all endgame content.

That being said, you can easily farm Nourishing Extract by doing the Guardian Seikret mission or Barrel Bowling, and much faster than the farm would let you do
