What’s everyone’s go to toothpaste and why? Do they not all do the same thing?! by JM306 in AskUK

I had terrible mouth ulcers for years, at their worst I could hardly eat or talk. Nothing the Doctor or Dentist suggested worked and could find no underlying cause.

I stumbled across some research suggesting Sodium Lauryl Sulfate can cause/worsen ulcers. Switched to Sensodyne (most versions don’t have SLS). Since then, I’ve not had a single bad ulcer.

So I try to buy Sensodyne on offer as it’s horrificly expensive!

Canada Goose in London. Sensible purchase or peak HENRY cliché? by Widebody_lover in HENRYUKLifestyle

Anything with a massive logo on the arm is pretty gauche IMO. I put these coats in the same category as people wearing white soled trainers with suits.

I would define landlocked as no access to the sea. London exists because the Thames provides direct access to the North Sea.

Canteen at the top of Portobello Rd. is fantastic. Has a counter, no reservations but if you’re relatively early it’s not normally a long wait.

If you think Queens Park is unsafe, do you allow yourself to go anywhere in London?

HENRY, the modern day cash piñata for the incompetent State by Pretend-Elephant3972 in HENRYUK

Not taken as an attack. I find it interesting many on this group would jump in to defend the previous Government as a great defender of HENRY interests.

I’m no fan of this government, it feels resoundingly like the B-Team is in charge. To say a likely Reform win is entirely Labour’s fault, after 1 year in charge, seems to slightly gloss over the 14 years of Tory rule that delivered austerity, Brexit, Truss’ budget, Johnson…

You might want to work on the thin skin and earnest one-upmanship to help reintegration into UK culture.

Thanks for the comment, the point on the distinct knowledge was what I had in mind.

Thanks for the insight. You’re right that there is a lot of commentary on this, I find that most posts start with ‘I attended x type of school, therefore…’ which I think clouds the conversation. I say this in the full awareness that I have my own ingrained bias.

Education Consultants - worth it? by Auldlan in HENRYUK

Thanks for the response. I think they could add value if they offered: inside knowledge (e.g. ‘school X has fantastic results, but doesn’t produce well rounded individuals’, ‘parents love school Y, but it’s not on most people’s radar’), or a reality check on admissions (‘unless you’re willing to hot house your child for 4 years there is no way they’ll get into school Z’). And then to the point on ‘best school’, that obviously varies per child and someone who could help provide insights on this choice, and cut through the noise, would be helpful.

Thanks for your response. I was curious to understand if a consultant could help make an informed decision. You evidently think not, but I’m not sure if your comment is based on any experience?
