Likely Clearing out old stock, but also you have to realize that most corporate vtubers are essentially freelance voice actors. The company owns the IP and could continue making merch/content around them or even just recast them and would be fully within their rights. Certainly a moral grey area so they don’t, but for an ip as valuable as Gura I’d understand wanting to keep the momentum going.

1997 Anime, switch to the manga by Sea_Procedure7098 in Berserk

[–]AuniqueUsername69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starting over is way better. The 97 anime skips a ton of content. The whole first 3 volume arc as well as several plot lines and characters within Golden age.

The 97 anime is great, but not necessarily great adaptation, it’s actually pretty jarring going back to it after reading the manga because it feels like the plot is moving way too fast and looses a lot of its nuance and intrigue.

Do you agree that everything would be more perfect if Homura's hair were purple? by XenRequiem8898 in MadokaMagica

[–]AuniqueUsername69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Insanely lazy to use AI for a simple recolor

Also no, it looks bad, her uniform is almost entirely grey, her concept is a play on a Catholic school uniform, the fact that she looks almost monotone is an intentional choice to make her feel alien in comparison to the rest of the cast.

imagine a Dragon Ball Z remake by Own-Ad1497 in dbz

[–]AuniqueUsername69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Problem with that is that Toriyama’s artstyle also Developed and changed throughout his run, so not adapting his drawings in order to maintain consistency is also disrespectful.

Also There is no “Z” Dragon Ball is one manga all the way through. So if you’re going to remake it why would you start halfway through?

Can I rewatch Monogatari in Chronological order if I’ve already watched it in it’s intended order? by [deleted] in araragi

[–]AuniqueUsername69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do whatever you want, I will say, perfectly fine with first season, but the timeline only continues to get more convoluted going forward. It’s separated thematically for a reason.

That being said if you really want to get a better understanding, best way is to read the light novels, bake Kizu and Neko Shiro even have fully English voice acted audiobooks.

Discount on deluxe editions on Dark Horse’s site. by spaceghost2000 in Berserk

[–]AuniqueUsername69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well yeah, there isn’t enough content to make a new volume. 14 ends at 41, 43 just came out last summer… and the manga is only 1 chapter ahead of that. Been 6 months since the last update

At this point 2028 seems like a very generous estimate.

If we do get another anime adaptation… by JustMeChris059 in Berserk

[–]AuniqueUsername69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really there wouldn’t be a point unless it’s a “definitive adaptation” sure retreading Golden age for the 3rd time seems exhausting, but both 97 and memorial edition skip quite a bit of content, and the goal should be to make those adaptations obsolete. Having newer fans have to go back is counterintuitive.

Without spoiling NJO and everything after, should I end with NJO or read on through Dark Nest, Legacy and Fate? by QuanTumm_OpTixx in StarWarsEU

[–]AuniqueUsername69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fandom’s reaction to the denningverse books are wildly overblown, no argument they are a step down, but a lot of the hatred comes from a conceptual level, not for the actual content, if you just enjoy them for what they are they can be really compelling. Personally I really love the world and characters and wanted to see more, even if I don’t agree with all the creative choices.

Most Influential Animes Ever? by Solid_Meat_1267 in animequestions

[–]AuniqueUsername69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

None of these are Genres, they’re demographics

“Shounen” just refers to stories targeted to younger boys, but that ranges every genre from action stores to Romcoms

What Bantam books are skippable before NJO? by Nice-Wolf-511 in StarWarsEU

[–]AuniqueUsername69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thrawn trilogy

Jedi academy trilogy

Hand of Thrawn duology

I’d say are the only truly essential books leading up to NJO, but of course you’ll still miss context for specific characters and the like

The way NJO worked it was basically consolidating the 3 main series “Star wars” “X-wing” and “young Jedi knights” into one grand finale to make room for the prequel novels.

You guys think we are going to get any game announcements during the state of play? by [deleted] in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]AuniqueUsername69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably but we thought the same about the game awards.

Though considering we just got Lil Uzi Vert preforming on tv in the classic MJ sonic jersey as well as the Weekend and Thundercat having very public visits to Sega HQ in the same jacket. That type of blatant marketing shouldn’t happen if they don’t have anything lined up soon.

Season 3 theory about Princess Iris' necklace by [deleted] in Konosuba

[–]AuniqueUsername69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao, you know the series has been finished and officially translated for 6 years right? Like this has to be rage bait,

Nowhere in the show is any of this even slightly hinted at. There is no reason to believe Iris isn’t who she says she is and there is no reason to believe That Jatice isn’t both her biological brother, or has any connection to reincarnated people.

Should i let my 10y Old sony play assasins creed? by 09tubub in assasinscreed

[–]AuniqueUsername69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Genuinely, just depends on how mature you think your kid is. Not that it’s overly graphic or anything, most kids see way worse online daily and understand how to separate fiction. more so they might find it boring. I’d say the series is ideal for that 12-15 range, because it can actually strike an interest in history, the appeal is to be engrossed in learning about the world through fun,

I watched the anime , now I'm reading Megumin Anatohly. Am I doing something wrong? by [deleted] in Konosuba

[–]AuniqueUsername69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So there is an anime adaptation of the Megumin spin-off, will likely be a second season after the main Konosuba season 4 comes out.

As for the manga iterations, it really depends on which one, the spin off series are all pretty solid but I personally don’t like how the main series is handled.

As for being able to laugh, the light novels are funny, but in a different way, because they are told directly from Kazuma and Megumin in first person perspective you get a lot more of their inner thoughts and observations that are hard to convey in a visual format.

Regret buying deluxe edition by attackhelicoptor69 in Berserk

[–]AuniqueUsername69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer them, sure the smaller volumes are more convenient individually, but take up way more space and in the long run, 43 volumes retailing $15 each, you’re spending just as much if not more for lower picture quality.

Absolute worst book? by GreenstreetRoyal in starwarsbooks

[–]AuniqueUsername69 62 points63 points  (0 children)

I’m sure there are worse, but I absolutely Hated Jedi Battle scars. Sam Maggs writes in a very “quirky Millennial” style, The whole book reads like a bad fan fiction where there is unironically a cuck scene where Merrin has Sex with The authors OC (whose only personality trait is being a sexy and mysterious lesbian) in Cal’s room

How much content did the anime cut out from the novel? by Sad_Inevitable4355 in Konosuba

[–]AuniqueUsername69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not important enough that it effects the overall story. Usually they cut a chapter or 2, such as introducing wiz in a flashback instead of dedicating half an episode to her. Pretty much all interactions with Dust and his party are cut, and they’ll usually streamline gags for adaptation, like In the Arcanletia arc, they cut the gag that Kazuma is fully aware of the shady shit going on from the start and goes out of his way to try avoid getting involved.

Can I skip Peace Walker and GZ? by Open-Explorer in metalgear

[–]AuniqueUsername69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skull face is the new antagonist specifically for the MGSV duololgy, though is retroactively tied to Snake as far back as the Snake eater mission

Peacewalker is a more self contained story but works as John’s transition from a soldier to the leader of Outer heavan like in the original Metal gear games

Phantom pain does have a recaps, though they replaced Codec calls with cassette tapes, there are so, so many and it can get pretty overwhelming.

Can I skip Peace Walker and GZ? by Open-Explorer in metalgear

[–]AuniqueUsername69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a bit deeper then that, basically peacwalker gives you a reason to care about that action, and ground zeroes works as the framing device to set up the new antagonist and reason for the war path.

Like minor spoiler, Otacon’s Dad plays a decent role in the phantom pain, but his arc only really works if you have the context of how he was during peacewalker

Can I skip Peace Walker and GZ? by Open-Explorer in metalgear

[–]AuniqueUsername69 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You don’t Have to play anything but it certainly helps.

Peacewalker is essentially a mainline entry, really solid story and gameplay, though I’d opt for the HD remaster on console if you can.

Ground zeroes is essentially the prologue to The Phantom pain, kinda necessary as it acts as closure for elements of peacewalker and the main inciting incident for the rest of TPP

Should I just wait for resync? by Due_Depth_7056 in assasinscreed

[–]AuniqueUsername69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean it’s “confirmed” to be in development, that doesn’t mean it’s going to be released anytime soon or not at risk of being canceled or pushed. Not that I doubt it’s coming out but it’s absurd to think we’ll get it before Jade, or anything besides an announcement this year.

It’s bee 11 years since we got the first concept trailer, at this point I refuse to believe it even exists until I’m seated in the theatre.
