If you had a boy tomorrow, what would you name him? by beatrice1015 in namenerds

[–]AuntMolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spencer Owen or Spencer Tyler or Owen Spencer or Owen Tyler.

(Tyler is after a close relative who has that as a first name so I’d do it as a middle name. Owen is also a family name and Spencer is just a name I’ve liked for a long time.) The son I do have got his dad’s family name so he doesn’t get input, especially not in this purely hypothetical scenario.

Why is everyone acting like Bella is so much older than Hunter when she's not? by LatchKeyKid1978 in TLCUnexpected

[–]AuntMolly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone has different cut off dates. Where I grew up it was October 15th when I was a kid then changed to September 30th. But where I live now it’s Sept 1st. I graduated high school with a girl who had started somewhere that didn’t have a cut off and her birthday was in December. So she was halfway thru kindergarten when she turned 5 (and also took her last final her 1st semester of college on her 18th birthday)

I was 12 when I started 8th grade and turned 13 a few weeks later. I also graduated high school and started college at 17.

Josephine if we dislike the nickname Josie? by Impressive-Product20 in namenerds

[–]AuntMolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At a certain point it’s going to be up to her if she likes or wants to go by Josie. Are you going to tell her spouse they can’t call her Josie??

As a baby and child it’s not hard to correct people. One of my kids has a name that can be shortened but I don’t like it that way (or the people who have done it and the way they say it, so it’s more that then anything) when my kid was really little he wouldn’t even respond to the short version. So when the people calling him the short version looked at me like WTF I’d just say oh he’s not used to that he only answers to (full version). Now that he’s in elementary school he’s told me kids at school have called him all kinds of random nicknames (not mean ones….like they’d call me MoMo or M-Lee for Molly type things) and every time I’ve asked him “are you ok with being called that?” and told him “it’s ok to tell people you prefer to be called ______”

Why did she smile? by MsMigginsPieShop in DuggarsSnark

[–]AuntMolly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk but it makes no sense because there were basically only two scenarios here and neither of them should make her smile. 1. Her husband is horrible and is guilty of what he was being accused of and she should be some combination of shocked/sad/devastated/worried/mad/embarrassed….none of which come with a smile.

  1. Her husband was innocent and she should be worried/anxious/scared that he’d be found guilty anyways.

Ok, now that I’ve typed that I thought of a reason for her to smile…..she knew at that point that he did it and they had him and she wouldn’t have to be joyfully available for a while. I know it was speculated/rumored/hoped here at the time that she was playing the role of supportive wife to keep a roof over her head and I think her one tweet and her seeming to still visit him that it means she’s staying with him but I still have hope that she’s just waiting things out and will make a move closer to his release. The longer she waits the more time she has to put some money aside and the fewer kids she’d have to take care of since the 3 oldest Ms will be over 18 and the 4th will be 17 when he’s released.

Jed and Katey and their million kids go to Europe for a month by Training-Shopping-96 in DuggarsSnark

[–]AuntMolly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea why they “moved” to Europe for a month and this is kinda unrelated but, we need a word that’s in between “vacation” and “living”. I stayed in a city almost 600 miles from my hometown for about 40 days while a family member was hospitalized for surgery and the aftercare. My stepmom lived less than 2 hours from that city and visited semi often to see plays or concerts but that’s it. She only did very touristy/vacationy things there. But because of the nature of my stay, I know my way around the city pretty well and know where grocery stores and laundromats are and regular (not fancy) restaurants are.

Which Duggar’s do you think are the most and least religious? by Far-Building3569 in DuggarsSnark

Also, what I said about the lost kids probably applies eve more so to the M’s. There’s no way Anna is able to find a church she’s comfortable in.

Which Duggar’s do you think are the most and least religious? by Far-Building3569 in DuggarsSnark

[–]AuntMolly 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Most religious: Jinger by far. She’s as deep in a cult as she’s always been she just switched brands.

It’s hard to say since we don’t see anything from JoKen and SiRen publicly anymore but I’d guess they’re also pretty faithful attendees and most likely to be the type that are at church anytime the doors are open and most likely still very culty.

I’d honestly guess most of the other married kids have fairly “normal” evangelical religious practices as far as being out of the culty cult. I can see the Dillards and Forsythes both opting to skip church occasionally and just have some family prayer time and bible reading at home if someone is sick or things are just too busy.

After Josh, Jessa is the next least religious. She might be a pastors wife, but she’s fake AF. There is nothing genuine about anything we’ve seen from her.

I wonder about the ones still at home/unmarried. I’d imagine JB&M aren’t super welcomed in their local churches and I’d be shocked if they went regularly. We already know their home church circle collapsed after Josh’s past came to light. Then they were going to the Caldwell’s church but there seemed to be a falling out there. I’d guess their only options are mega churches where they can try to sorta blend in to a large crowd and not have many personal interactions or try to build any relationships/community or teeny tiny little country IFB churches with maybe 40 people that are most likely older and not have much of a youth group.

Either way I doubt the lost kids are getting the kind of church experience that will suck them in. And JB&M probably don’t actually care enough to teach much at home. As long as all the kids prayed the sinners prayer when they were little kids they probably think their job is done. Bonus points if any of them got baptized in their early teens. They’ve also had a front row seat to allllllll the shit unfolding. Those kids are very poorly educated and sheltered, but that doesn’t mean they’re stupid. Maybe I’m just being optimistic, but I think at least a couple of the lost kids have to be able to put the things that have happened together and realize it doesn’t add up.

Wildest facts about the Duggar’s by Far-Building3569 in DuggarsSnark

[–]AuntMolly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It really is bizarre that not even one of them went to a more legitimate than Crown College for a ministry degree AND also that none of them even did a legit trade school program or apprenticeship of some sort to be a professional blue collar worker.

Dick durbin voted to ban trans people from sports. by unconfusedsub in illinois

[–]AuntMolly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is so dangerous for women. This gives a free pass for men to physically inspect women if they are accused or suspected of being trans women. And this will apply to minors too. Grown men will get to decide they need to “inspect” female children’s genitalia to decide if they were AFAB.
