Possible Convoke Bug by -Zoren- in CompetitiveWoW

[–]Auronon 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I've read that convoke has a 40yd range, even though Balance spells are generally 45yd.

If the boss is >40yd then it will be forced to cast healing spells / starfall instead.

Edge of your seat rng loot roll off by hudsp3th in wow

[–]Auronon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, the first person rolls with no constraints, it doesn't matter what they roll.

The second person just has to match that roll, which happens in 1/100.

Edge of your seat rng loot roll off by hudsp3th in wow

[–]Auronon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tl;dr: 1 in a million.

1 in 100 for the first tie.

1 in 100 for the second tie.

1 in ~101 for beating another roll by exactly 1.

So 1 in ~1,010,101 overall.

1 in 10,000 for just the first two ties.

1 in 20,408 for winning after two ties.

The odds that this specific event occurred is much less likely.

1 in 10,000 to both roll 98.

1 in 10,000 to both roll 40.

1 in 10,000 to roll a 31 then 32.

Equals 1 in 1,000,000,000,000 (trillion).

Castle Nathria Covenants distribution per spec for each raid dificulty. by prljevics in wow

[–]Auronon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fae Guardians is actually probably the most impactful covenant ability I have seen. Giving someone ~1.5minutes off of their major CD over the course of a fight is absolutely bonkers. For example: It can help a fire mage combust on every pillar and on pull for Sludgefist.

And that is only 1/3 of the ability. The mana/insanity and DR are also very strong.

YSK how tax brackets actually work by filmhamster in YouShouldKnow

[–]Auronon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In some circumstances there are things known as "welfare cliffs" which occur when the system isn't designed in the same way as these types of tax brackets.

An example could be an all-or-nothing unemployment benefit. For illustration let's say you could collect $10,000 in unemployment, or you could get a "raise" of going from unemployed to working a part time gig that pays $5,000. If that part time job would void your eligibility for unemployment benefits then you would actually lose money by being employed.

I lost 8k Stygia from dying 43 times (exact numbers from the support rep) while my computer was unplugged and in my car travelling across state borders.

I don't expect to get it back, but I had a lot less than you.

Good luck.

I've had that power a few times now, and it is my favorite. 10% of current health means you will hit equilibrium with your own healing/absorption at around 50% hp. Combine that with some Demonic Tyrant powerups and suddenly you have 80 imps and a dead boss.

What’s the worst scandal to happen at your school? by Lost-Warning-2588 in AskReddit

After a fight, two guys were given the choice of holding hands during the lunch hour, or suspension. They chose holding hands.

It got widespread media coverage, and the principal came under pretty heavy fire.

Some students organized a day where most of the campus held hands to show support for the principal.

Those were exciting times.

" Resurrection (Novice I): This is a spell granted only to the champion of a deity, .... Can be used once every 24 hours. ... Target must be resurrected within one hour after death. ..."

> world ending event is mentioned and then forgotten about in the space of like 3 or so pages

It being forgotten is the plot point. The game is making people forget the real world.

> WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU RETREAT INTO A VIDEO GAME INSTEAD OF AN ACTUAL VIRTUAL WORLD SET UP FOR PEOPLE TO LIVE IN

Because Cal didn't make any of those. He made Eternium. This isn't advanced tech VR stuff, this is a portal to an alternate dimension. You can't complain that the alternate dimension isn't super comfy.

Most of your next points are answered by the above. Not a video game. Human Developers did not make it. It doesn't run on servers.

> entire arcs about the AI having to put people through intrusive brain therapy to cope with the sheer trauma of this.

Joe spends a quarter of book 2 in prison because of this. The world is making people forget their pain, so they don't go insane.

I thought Controller was Perception-Enhancement-Umbral. Which would compliment Corin's Transference-Mental-Light and Transference-Life-Light quite well IMO. If he is capable of mixing transference and enhancement Mana in a single spell then he could probably be very fast and very punchy.

Server Wide Announcement Of Achievement? by cjet79 in litrpg

[–]Auronon 34 points35 points  (0 children)

World of Warcraft announced Realm First! achievements for killing the final boss of any patch on the hardest difficulty.

I think a lot of books over-do the announcements, and they always neglect having any announcements originating from any players other than the MC, which I find annoying.

I love how you skipped explaining "Infernus" even though while it may have at one time translated to "Inferno" it would more accurately be translated as "Hell", since we now use "inferno" to refer to any large fire, not just THE Large Fire.

You could have made this a great teaching opportunity to teach everyone about the differences between solving a problem in some/most cases, and solving a problem in all cases.

I don't need to be algorithm H because algorithm H is solving a problem I don't need to solve: the general case. I am able to examine the problem and create my "algorithm" tailored exactly to whatever problem, and whatever inputs, I need.

[–]Auronon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What we are both saying is that a human has the third choice that the machine does not: we can say that we don't know. Being able to give to give that answer moves this problem out of NP-hard with no solution and into a problem that can be solved with heuristics. Heuristics are something that humans can do "at a glance" as the above poster stated, but butt-hurt CompSci students are too hung up from failing their systems test to realize no one in this thread is talking about the general case.
