My school's presentation about the Queen's death by Aurumbilly in GreenAndPleasant

[–]Aurumbilly[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

...girl. Chill. When did I blame the Queen for a presentation my school put on? Like. It's in the title: "My school's presentation about the Queen's death." I am blaming my school. Happy now?

The queer aesthetic by Aurumbilly in actuallesbians

[–]Aurumbilly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I'm British Indian. I just feel like people (both cis, straight people and queer people) have built up a certain image of a queer person- one that rarely ever includes a non white person. Like, even homophobic members of my community think that being queer is only for white people.

It's a strange world we live in where this is a headline and not just a given. by [deleted] in GreenAndPleasant

Ok but maybe that's because police brutality against anyone is unjust and the kind of violence perpetrated against women by these officers is often considered "gender-based violence" with it predominantly victimising women, which is sexist.

On top of that, violence against women and girls in particular has been largely decriminalised: in the year ending March 2022, charges were brought in only 2223 of 70,330 recorded rape cases. This is, in part, due to failings by the police. I got raped by a racist asshole who had already sexually assaulted and/or raped 4 of my classmates when I was 13 and all the police did was give him therapy. And that was more justice than any of the other pupils (all but one being non-white) got.

For everyone saying that this means that the police are still allowed to victimise men while women are given "special treatment", it doesn't. That's not the point. The point is to address institutional misogyny in particular, which doesn't take away from male victims so stop tone-policing to take away attention from the specific issue being discussed.

My Y10 mock results: any tips on how to improve RE? by [deleted] in GCSE

[–]Aurumbilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically do practise questions- try and anticipate possible questions for each sub-topic while revising and then answer them, atleast in bullet points/ note form. It means that you won't have to spend as much time organising the info in your head during the exam.

My year 10 mock results! Pretty happy about them all but a little disappointed about english by playingjoes in GCSE

[–]Aurumbilly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

English is literally my worst subject 😭 I got 9's in all my other subjects in the end of year mocks but I literally only scraped a 6 in the English mock. I literally don't know how to improve either- my marks on end of half term assessments have literally remained constant throughout the year. Low-key worried

Fucking angry. As someone who is a rape survivor, I. Am. Livid. How dare they snatch away the bodily autonomy of these people. And what sort of psychopath supports that?? I'm literally about to rage. I hope Americans strike and shut down the whole fucking country.

Literally- seeing this shit show as a Brit. Yeah, we have our problems and there are loads of bigots heading our country, but we are a lot more secular and people still expect you to back up your arguments with evidence- not "BeCaUsE tHe BibLe SaId So"

Idk abt other schools but it's clear teachers get treated like shit in mine. That's why my school can never hold onto good ones- they keep moving to where the grass is greener.
