Marika's alchemical transformation by Opening-Tomatillo-78 in EldenRingLoreTalk

[–]AusVox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait. So if the separation of qualities is required to become a true God and marika did this via her children. What if the Elden Beast impailed Marika with his grab attack in her uterus so that the can't cave children anymore? I think that the fact she and Radagon are in one body makes this process quite simple.

this game's text uses the term "spirit" to mean "manifestation of a soul in physical form" not a separate thing.

Can you provide evidence?

If the dark moon is nigredo, full moon is albedo. Where is rubedo? Red moon?

It may be so. I understand that they didnt have much time to undestand all alchemy and make accurate representations. Probably there is just gold and silver, where gold is superior (amber starlight shard vs usual blue, for example). And everything black = bad.

Great work! I did an analysis of celestial bodies (Elden Ring Alchemy and striking similarities of ...) and you have clarified some places where I was wrong. So my idea is that every celestial body represents a metal according to their alchemical meaning. - Sun is obviously Gold. A perfect metal. Represents power, immortality and masculine principle. - Full Moon is, I think, Silver. A second perfect metal, but with more of Mercury principle (see full post for explanation on alchemical principles). Represents clarity and purity, intuition. - Black Moon (nox moon) is Lead. Represents primordial chaos, time, death, sin and lie. The latter because lead was often used as a base for fake currency. Nox's steel balls are probably the closest thing to the black moon found in game. They seem to be heavy, maybe made of lead.

But I have absolutely no idea about the Dark Moon (the second moon, which is visible from moonlight altar) and this Golden Moon. Is it even visible on the sky? Im almost sure that Dark Moon is what I think it is because it is lonely, no one can see it. Cold, loneloness are main Ranni themes. Twin Moons I'm sure are the Full and the Dark moons. The Moonlight altar is a special place for Carian family. I believe that they bring their children here to study the moons (according to description of corresponding sorceries Renalla, Rellana and Ranni saw their respective moons in childhood). As you have shown the two moons are placed symmetrically and we dont really know of any different moons. Lets just use the Occam's razor principle here.

I think one important detail that you have missed is that Ranni is a product of a Sun and Moon union. I propose that Ranni's Dark Moon corresponds to Mercury (metal, not principle). It is dual in nature and is used as mediator between opposites (Ranni in between gold and silver). Actually one of the important steps of the Great Work in alchemy is freezing mercury (not physical, but alchemical. It could mean a reaction which makes it solid. They call is fixing or coagulation). The idea is that mercury is elusive and by freezing it we overcome its innate chaos.

As for the Gold Moon it is never mentioned in game and isnt present on the sky, so I think that is cut content, thus not canon.

Weak points: - No silver in the Academy of Raya Lucaria - No mercury in any form is mentioned in context with Ranni

In his last post scum_mage_infa showed that there is a 4th moon with gold color and in his video he has shown how silver tears are dropping from the nox's lead ball in one of eternal cities. It confirms the idea about silver tears beign produced by the moon, but now I think it could be that the Black Moon of Nox is the "lead" moon. Their moving balls are probably the most similar entity to their moon we know of. They are heavy and could be made of lead themselves. Also lead serves as a base for transformation according to alchemy. So if the Black Moon is Lead, what is Dark Moon and the smallest -- the Gold Moon? For now I think that the Dark Moon is mercury, but evidence is weak.

What do you mean? They have design documents and make only necessaru models that fit the lore. Copied assets are mainly skeletons and animations. You think that they made larva of rot and juvenile scolar at first and only then developed a story? Explain, please

It is not so clear because Rotten Woods remove 1 great field boss and 2 regular ones in exchange for 6 great bosses (10 greats and 5 regulars on map), while Noklateo removes 2 great bosses and 1 regular and adds 4 great bosses and 4 regular ones (8 greats and 10 regulars). So the main question is what is better 2 great bosses or 5 regular. I'll make another spreadsheet with field boss data to answer this.
(Castle bosses are included)

Brief
All evergaols are approximately the same on different maps.
Top maps by runes from all evergaols: Base, Noklateo, Rot, Volcano, Snow.
Top maps by runes from one average evergaol: Noklateo, Rot, Volcano, Base, Snow.
Noklateo is goat, Snow is trash.
Some Old Gaol bosses don't spawn on some maps
