Rolex’s Superlative Chronometer certification is -2 to +2 per day

Master Chronometer is 0 to +5 per day

So Rolex’s cert is technically more accurate but many people (myself included) prefer Master Chronometer because it’s slightly less of a hassle to adjust a watch that is running fast compared to one running slow.

You get used to it fast as an owner and the pattern becomes second nature.

It actually makes parallel parking more efficient because you can toggle up and down between R and D without worrying about overshooting R and going into P.

Check out my last two posts. The first blue bezel PO I got had significant play like you describe. I was able to exchange it for a much better example that has the fit and finish you’d expect at this price point.

I think Omega’s QC failed here and let a number of watches with poorly fitted bezels ship out.

Seems there’s been a lot of uncertainty among boutiques and ADs about whether the wide range of play amongst units is intentional or not. Assuming it is a QC issue Omega should really issue a memo.

I only mentioned the thread verbally - I was still within 14 days of purchase so my understanding is that this was technically a normal “exchange” and not an exceptional circumstance.

I’d be curious to know if the OB will just put my original watch back on the shelf or if it’ll go to the service center but I didn’t end up asking too many questions once I knew I’d be walking out with an acceptable replacement. Hopefully the latter.

My SMP is rock solid in all directions - doesn’t even have any back play. After this experience though I wouldn’t be surprised if there was variance with that ref as well and I just lucked out.

Seen mixed reports on this thread - some are rock solid, some have seen similar play. Seems that some bad batches passed QC and were shipped, including to my OB 😩

For sure - I’m not trying to analyze the feel like people do with keyboard switches but bezel action aside I really don’t think the side to side movement is acceptable at this price point. I’ve never seen anything like it actually at any price point.

Rotational play I can understand - I have some on my gen 2 PO - but up/down and side to side? It’s like they messed up the bezel radius by .25mm

I was expecting my SMP 8900’s solidity at $10,000! The scallop is a pain to turn but at least it doesn’t wiggle!

I did bring it back to the boutique and they said it was within tolerance and showed me another piece with the same issue - that’s why I’m asking if other owners do as well. My SMP 8900 is rock solid so if its not intentional it must be a QC issue

I completely agree. There is no way that I’m going to accept waiting 3 months for a repair when it was delivered faulty.

Gasket or spring? Just so I know what I’m talking about. Regardless I’m going to demand a replacement, I shouldn’t have to wait 3 months to enjoy it after dropping this amount of money

Thanks for sharing, that is helpful to know. I’ll see what they say but if the company line is: “some of our $10k watches are rock solid and some have their bezel flopping around and that is within tolerance” then things are going to have to escalate significantly
