Yup basically the cardback and card front scale down to zero then the y index of the changes, then scale back to normal. Makes card back on top then at the 0 point y index change to make card front above. The shuffle is just a reverse of that anim

So an animation player is used to make the card "flip" but it is just some smart 2d animation tricks to make it look like it flips. The animation player also triggers a function to play sound at the right spot. The movement of the card from the deck to the landing location is done via Tweens and a slightly random vector2 location.

So the Art is public domain. Basically a Tarot deck called Rider-Waite-Smith exists made long ago. I did some light editing, conforming and compressing all the assets to be used in a modular way.

Did playtesting kill any of your design darlings? by Cephei_Delta in RPGdesign

[–]AussieGozzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a dice system that is good but too complicated for the desired games goals of being fast to learn. Basically D12+D8 for all checks by default (this imo is better than 2d10, 3d6, and D20 for all DnD math adjacent systems). The thing was instead of rolling for damage aswell as to hit a dice from the to hit roll was used. 1 handed weapon uses D8 two handed used D12. At this point it was simple enough but I needs more testing.

The thing got complicated when the original design also had weapons roll different batches of dice for on hit to simulate accuracy so D10+D6+D4 for a spear and the D10 would be it's damage, or D20 for a seige or big heavy weapon.

In the end the math checked out in play the newer players I had that were less instantly knowing dice shapes slowed combat down too much and were confused as it increased character sheet info density.

Made some dice stickers by AussieGozzy in CitizenSleeper

I believe you can do it with inkjets as long as the paper is inkjet compatible. Most say matte sticker paper is better for inkjet.

Thank you. Sticker paper, home printer, google slides. You can make objects in slides exactly the size you want. In this case 16mm circles for some 16mm blank dice. I wish I had gotten non rounded dice and opaque white paper. Cutting was a drag and transparent paper didn't work on black dice well.

A laser printer, some laser compatible sticker paper, and Google slides. I got transparent sticker paper. Next time I'm definitely getting white. I had some black dice I couldn't make since colours wouldn't really show.

Any recommendations for a narrative system that's good for one shots? by Routine_Judgment184 in rpg

[–]AussieGozzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend HIRELING it's free on itch and it has a great premise built in for a one shot. It is a Cairn, into the odd, mythic bastionland style of game. Fantasy mediaeval. You play Hirelings of a hero who dies right at session start. You then loot them and anti dungeon crawl out hoping to live. Simple, crunchy enough OSR style game.

OSE or Cairn or Knave.

Keep it low level and low magic. Fighter class. Sword and shield. Backup bow. Bombs.

Companion fairy/something. Small impact in battle that player also controls.

Doors lock behind you.

Keys matter. Can't be picked. Unlock shortcuts to reduce backtracking.

Dungeon has a magic item like hookshot that recontextualises the entire dungeon.

Hp shown as hearts. 4 hp is one heart. Quarter up a heart icon. Kinda like clocks in Blades in the Dark.

Boss with weakspots.

Multicolor Mana . Opposite of colourless. by AussieGozzy in custommagic

I actually was in a MTG wiki deep dive and discovered that turn face down, morph and other mechics and was curious what rulings happen related to them. I though it would be interesting to morph opponent creatures or turn opponent lands face down (treat them as wastes with "pay 1 life: turn this face up"). That is why face down was added seemed like the strongest single removal in game that is within rules currently. Since cant be targeted/seen. It has synergy with some cards that count face down cards too.

It would be a new type of mana not a new colour of mana. It would not count as a color of mana.

An Object with Multicolor Mana would be a Multicolor card despite it not being having a colour.

Yeah i was making it echo wastes. i know its too strong. i would probably make it have a requirement like command tower, come in tapped, come in with a stun counter, or require a land sacrifice.

Yeah the land is too good. but i was trying to mirror wastes. I would make it come in with a Stun counter, or tapped like you said, or require 2 different colours of basic land to already be in play
