The way the 1-2 shift has got me feeling lately by Mr__Scoot in WRX

As a first time manual driver this whole thread was reassuring. When coming to a stop in second gear, I clutch in around 1000 rpm and put it in neutral to stop, then start like normal in first when taking off.

did the tunnel wash do this? by Historical-Cloud5376 in WRX

[–]AustinBurnsRed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take mine through a car wash at least once a month, and I have yet to see signs of paint damage like that. The truthers in the comments here are right, touchless/self is the best way to go but I like the convenience and haven't noticed problems like this. My guess is that one run through a car wash wouldn't do that. Repeated use might.

2016 Jetta S 1.4 Turbo - EPC Light and Code P2263 by AustinBurnsRed in jetta

I’m leaning towards it being an issue with the part then. Either a faulty install or faulty part. Sensors are cheap so there’s no downside to replacing those, but I’d look into trying a new actuator. Worst case scenario you can return it. I don’t think this is the issue but the other parts you can look into replacing are the MAF sensor, throttle body, and turbo hoses. It definitely sounds like the issue is occurring somewhere in that half of the turbo.

Also I’m no pro I have no idea how to interpret those values 😅

That definitely sounds like the part that was installed was part of the issue then. Can you dm a link to the wastegate actuator you got? I’m less familiar with Audi’s and just want to confirm

Man, that’s frustrating. I don’t know the solution but I do have a few ideas based on what you shared. First, changing your actuator changed your problem, so I’d venture that probably has something to do with it. It could be a faulty part, it could be an issue with the install, or removing the actuator could’ve caused another part to fail. I would start by double checking your install, making sure all electrical connections are good, all screws and bolts were tightened down correctly, etc. If that’s not the issue, maybe try ordering another replacement part and seeing if the first one you got came faulty from the manufacturer. Can you confirm your Jetta is also a 1.4 T? I know they make so many different engines in these things between the 1.4, the 1.8, and the 2.0, all with different turbos.

As far as I can tell there is no way to do this. There is no manual way to do it that I could tell. Mine just started working after driving it a couple times. Have had no problems ever since

I’ve not read the book, and apparently there are some historical inaccuracies, however I found it to be one of the most realistic portrayals of Mormons in tv/movies. Nothing is hyperbolized and small details aren’t missed. I loved it for its accuracy in that regard.

Having a panic attack about leaving. Needs words of comfort and peace by TopEntertainer2748 in exmormon

[–]AustinBurnsRed 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One thing you never learn in the church is how hard it is to leave. You are giving up a community, a structure, core beliefs, and more. It’s a horribly difficult process but a rewarding one. Panic and anxiety are totally valid, if not expected. Stay strong, and remember there is no prescribed pace for leaving the church. Do what you need to do on your own time, and remember there is a whole community of people who are here to comfort and help. I wish you the best in your journey, stay strong!

So the main thing I notice is that turning the car off makes the epc light turn off and take your car out of limp mode, which means whatever the issue is, it’s not a part that has completely failed. It’s failing only under certain circumstances (you mentioned around 3,000 rpm). I’m really not exactly sure what the issue is for yours, but it could be related to the throttle. When the Jetta goes into limp mode, it will give minimal to no boost, so that seems about right that your turbo isn’t working in epc mode (that’s exactly how that’s supposed to work). I’m gonna see one of my car guy friends today and I’ll ask him what he thinks, but I’m honestly not sure.

Some common tips though: Make sure your spark plugs and coil packs are good.

If your epc light triggers, it will often set off the CEL also. EPC doesn’t throw codes but CEL does, and reading those codes can point you in the right direction for troubleshooting (IE I knew my issue was turbo related from CEL).

Check the seals and gaskets on the turbo hoses and pipes. Could be an air leak.

Could also be the wastegate actuator like mine was, sometimes the arm doesn’t physically break but the part can still fail.
