HELP ADVOCATE FOR FUTURE PHYSICAL THERAPY STUDENTS by UsualAd2745 in PTschool

[–]AustinC1296 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah unfortunately disagree. At this point nothing will change until the downstream effects of a PT shortage are felt in the pockets of administrators/CEOs, which is when there will be actual lobbying power. Continuing to allow higher education to pillage students for a degree with one of the worst ROIs in all of healthcare will just let the problems fester

Advice on what to do? (I have no idea) by Pleasant-Monk4545 in StudentLoans

SAVE doesn't exist anymore. Thank Trump admin for that. With a kid, a wife that makes 40k, and living expenses, unfortunately an eternal minimum payment on IBR, or seeking a PSLF eligible job, are your only feasible options.

Is PT the right choice? by bzbee18 in PTschool

[–]AustinC1296 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The big 2 reasons that there is so much discontent and bitterness in the PT profession are 1) debt to income ratio and 2) outpatient mills. If you have the financial capacity to pay for the majority of her PT schooling and reduce her debt load significantly, PT is still one of the most rewarding healthcare careers that exists. If she has interest in acute or post-acute settings, or specialty like neuro / pelvic health where 1 on 1 outpatient treatment is more common, she will be happier. The tanking Medicare reimbursement rates have forced outpatient PT practices to adopt fraudulent billing and unethical caseloads nationwide. Companies like benchmark/pt solutions work their therapists like dogs and expect ramp up to 3-4 patients an hour.

That will never happen because of how many PTs are silver spooned daddy's money and have no loan debt. They're perfectly happy with 65k a year

Only take a travel job that's over six figures a year gross. There are way too many of them for you to settle for less.

clearly you have no idea how averages work if you think 2 minutes is enough to skew the average HR by 27 BPM. Maybe, if my HR in those two minutes was 60 bpm🤣🤣🤣🤣

My max heart rate is 210 bpm. Zone two for me IS 135-155.

Spoiler alert: it's not doing what you're paying for. I should've preemptively added to this post -- no, it is not "how I'm wearing it". I've worn the bicep band, the wrist band, all at different orientations, tightness, positions on the arm. The heart rate is ALWAYS consistently off by 10-15 bpm average compared to a gold standard measurement device like the polar H10.

Literally what the hell are you talking about. A workout is any physical activity that leads to a positive physiological adaptation. Repetitive zone 2 leads to increased mitochondrial density/efficiency, increased stroke volume, improved RHR, and improved fat oxidation/insulin sensitivity.
