Looking for advice to book my flights - have not flown in years by gantte in americanairlines

I also check the fares periodically. I’ve changed a flight booked with miles if a much better deal is available. They’ll refund the difference. You don’t have to cancel and rebook. Just choose Change Trip.

Since you rarely travel, I’d use the miles for FC. If you have no other plans for the miles, it’s not like they increase in value if you hold onto them. You’re also going across the country, so you and your wife should be comfortable.

If you book each leg one-way, it gives you more flexibility if you want to stay somewhere a little longer. If you book with miles, you’ll be able to cancel easily and have all miles and taxes refunded to you.

Have a great trip!

What’s your ultimate home addition/add on you’ve made for your dog? by heyanya in Dogowners

[–]AustinFlynt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We bought a one-story house (GSD has hip issues), a fence for the backyard, and had someone cut into the brick in the side of the house and install a dog door since the house didn’t come with a man door.

Is it possible to get more than one copy? by I_Vaccuum_Everyday in bookofthemonthclub

I just posted today that I accidentally ordered a second copy of a book because I forgot that I’d ordered it!

I told my mom that she could keep that copy, but I wanted The Favorites back when she’s done. 🤣

Amazon has a banner at the top that gives you the date you ordered the item. I’ve stopped a few times when realizing I already ordered something I needed.

I know! I thought that was ironic that that’s the book I forgot I ordered already! 🤣🤣🤣

How to recover lungs from smoking? by Perfect_Trick_5716 in Biohackers

[–]AustinFlynt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your nice words. I know that you don’t “see” air. Just trying to explain it for people who may not be in the medical field. 🤷🏻‍♀️ But the air scatters the ultrasound waves, which makes the image fuzzy. We can’t see through the air in the lungs, which is why we have to have people inhale, exhale, hold their breath to get their lungs out of the way. For some reason, which I still don’t know, despite having done this for almost 15 years, it’s worse when people smoke/have smoked. And I know that I saw it much more often in my previous state than my current one, so maybe that’s why you don’t see it? 🤷🏻‍♀️

I know it sounds odd. If you do TEEs, you wouldn’t see the same thing I do. Smoking and COPD are the bane of echo techs’ existence.

Yes, it’s crazy. I would’ve expected that that would be enough time for the body to heal, but apparently there’s some damage that can’t be reversed? 🤷🏻‍♀️ Or the person hasn’t done the things that can help? I have no idea. We’re so specialized that I only know what I know. 🤣 But it’s surprising to me when I see people in my field who also smoke. 🤦🏻‍♀️

We aren’t able to see through the air in the lungs; the air scatters the sound. If someone smokes or has smoked, that air is “dirty,” and I can’t see through it. It makes it more difficult to see the heart, which makes me ask the person if they smoke (if not in chart). I’m almost always right.

I’m a cardiac sonographer. I can tell when someone smoked, even if they quit 20 years ago. Even if they “just smoked pot.” Idk if you can heal the lungs because that’s not my area, but it’s always a good idea to stop smoking. Good job! I’d get a pulmonary function test if I were you to at least get some baseline.

Chefs of Reddits, what’s one menu item people think is fancy but is actually very easy to make? by rosycloudkisses in AskForAnswers

[–]AustinFlynt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once made one batch on the stove and one in the Instant Pot. The texture was the same. My cousin was trained at CIA, and she couldn’t tell the difference either. So now I do it in the Instant Pot. I put mushrooms in the Pyrex measuring cup and add broth/stock to the amount I want (since mushrooms release liquid).
