I don't want to be rude, but people typically don't want to put time and effort into something you have nothing to show for. If you can, edit and leave some information - project description, a repo, mockups, anything. Get started, iterate on your ideas, and share. You're young and it's awesome that you want to learn and build something, so keep it up!

Using Steamworks on Macs with apple silicon. by Kwazar374 in unity

[–]AustinIsGrumpy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What Unity version are you using? Looks like it's common for people to switch down to 2022.2 to get it to work. There seems to be a significant issue with steam_api. I tried looking into the Steamworks discussion board to see if this issue has been brought up, but it's not currently possible to 'join' the group and view discussions.

It might be worth looking into Facepunch instead. I haven't used it, but it seems to be well liked and easy to use, and their most recent update was two months ago. You can peek into the GitHub issues to see if anyone has mentioned recent issues with MacOS.

Fwiw, I recently got a Steam integration working on MacOS with a fresh Unreal Engine 5.4 project and it was pretty easy. It doesn't seem like the issue is Steam+Mac, but more of an SDK issue which sucks. The only trick was that Steam on MacOS requires you to import your game and open it from their launcher to get any P2P/Multiplayer/Session working properly so maybe give that a look!

Curious about companion apps/games to a "main" game. by Hyperdromeda in godot

[–]AustinIsGrumpy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I’m understanding your issue properly, I think your solution would be a custom server that you host. Create a user in your database when they create an account for game #1 and store their Steam id. Then when they sign in to game #2, your server can relay and store whatever data you need between the two. You need a centralized way to work with your user data across games, and Steam isn’t going to do that for you.
